"Pennywise"
is also an evil clown in a Stephen King book that can look into people's
souls & turn into their worst fears. The only way to stop it is to
confront that fear.
Pennywise
are from HERMOSA BEACH CA, a small beach community that is the birthplace
of other notorious punk bands BLACK FLAG, DESCENDENTS and the CIRCLE JERKS.
They
formed in 1988 & "WORD FROM THE WISE" (1989) was Pennywise's first
release, a 5 song EP on Theologian Records.
"FULL
CIRCLE" is the new record, their fourth for Epitaph. In-stores April 22,
1997
It
has 13 new songs & a live in-studio version of BRO HYMN, which originally
appeared on their first album.
"Full
Circle" is dedicated to the life, music & memory of JASON THIRSK, original
bass player & founding member of PW, who died in July 1996.
It
was produced by Pennywise with Eddie Ashworth (Sublime) at TOTAL ACCESS
studio in Redondo Beach because "that's where Black Flag recorded."
Co-headlined
1996's WARPED TOUR with NOFX. Co-headlined 1997's WARPED TOUR with SOCIAL
DISTORTION & HELMET.
Pennywise
turned down an offer to play the main stage on LOLLAPALOOZA in 1995 because
the ticket price was too high.
FLETCHER
once threw-up all over Dr. Drew (and tried for, but missed, Rikki Rachman)
while hosting KROQ's "LOVELINE."
Pennywise
have never had a manager or taken a meeting with a major label.
Pennywise
did lots of comps last year:
"Astro
Zombies" for the MISFITS tribute album, "Violent World." Black Flag's "Nervous
Breakdown" for "Generations" -a benefit for Amnesty Int'l. Circle Jerk's
"Live Fast, Die Young" for "Bored Generation," Epitaph's xtreme sports
enhanced CD. "Surfin USA" for "M.O.M, Music for Our Mother ocean" -a benefit
album for the Surf Rider Foundation that also included tracks from Pearl
Jam, the Beastie Boys & No Doubt among others.
Pennywise
play fast, aggressive So Cal HARDCORE with a positive message.
Pennywise
also sell a lot of records & play sold-out shows around the world...
...so,
get behind them or get the fuck out of the way.
