By far the best album this year.Nothing else to say.

i think it's not their best, but they weren't aiming for it to be compared to SD or MCIS. Or Gish or Adore. With every album they were deliberately aiming for something different from their previos ones. If they had tried to recreate the magic of SD or the magic of MCIS, THEN they would truly have been assh***s. They could haf easily turned all the sceptics into believers again, but Corgan's aim was not to follow f***ers like-oh my goodness-limp bizkit and others. Ever wonder why they haf never gone back to Gish-style? Or why Mellon Collie was made so differently from the successful SD, with Flood instead of Vig as producer? Boybands follow formulas. Do the SPs follow a sure-sell formula? NO. They simply follow their hearts and souls to create music that they feel would be the best for them to create. i'm sure they haf no regrets about making machina despite its slugish sales. who the f*** wants big money if it comes only because a cliched formula was followed? machina is actually a CONCEPT album, more so than MellonCollie. Some fans haf figured that out already. The sleeve, music & lyrics are telling a story. For an explanation of the story, see the official SP website.

stop being jackasses about the album dammit, it was an awesome album and anyone who thinks it sucks is probably comparing it to limp bizkit or the other crap that came out this year

smashing pumpkins Rule
this alblum is good, but their others were better like Sieamese and Mellon Collie. TO BAD THEY'RE GONE!!!!!! :(

Joe Mama
Anyone who says thi cd sucks either: a) was expecting another mellon collie or siamese or b) hate good rock music. I'll admit that Corgan's voice isin't exactly that good, but it just blends in with the songs. I persoanlly love it. This cd is some very fine work. Standouts include the energetic "Everlasting Gaze", the fantastic "Sacred and Profane" and... ah hell BUY THIS DAMN CD NOW.

April
They did an excellent job like always. I love The Smashing Pumpkins, there isn't one song of theirs that I don't absolutely love! Billy Corgan is the best damn singer alive. He would calm even satan himself. I hate knowing that this great band, that will now be a legend in my book, will be no more. But, the music will always be strong and I will always love The Smashing Pumpkins. My favorite song on Machina was Stand Inside Your Love.

Alt-man
Nice. Very nice. Listen to the Pumpkins they f*ckin' wreck it.

tim
smash the cd,not just pumpkins.

Greener
The ONLY tolerable song in their entire lousy career is "Zero".

RidahNY
Billy Corgan's horrid voice will soon be silenced forever. This band is a sad case of good musicians being ruined by a singer? who should just have his vocal cords pulled out! If you want to fry the midrange drivers in your speakers as well as damage your ears, Billy Corgan is your man!

name withheld
Some good songs on here but too much filler. The Everlasting Gaze, Stand Inside Your Love, I Of The Mourning, This Time, The Imploding Voice, and Age Of Innocence would have made a good EP. The rest is trash.

ace
This is a top album smashing pumpkins are god!!!

Farewell & Goodnight...
Since you already know that THIS is their last album(it`s suppose to be), Corgan tried one last TRY to destroy those annoying boy/girl group. Machina is a decent good try. At least on this album he`s not trying to drown us in sadness like the other albums(even though we liked it)... more like WE can get on with our lives by TRYING!****/5.

Mr. Anamonous
It wasnt as good as their earlier albums but they were, like.. uh kinda the best ever. Mechina rules.

Morguean
How can I live without more Pumpkins' Music? I need it like I need food and water. What is this would coming to???????

Michael
This is probably the worst music I've ever heard I'm not kidding I am not flaming I give a few reasons The music sounds just horrible It doesn't even sound like guitars and they just bang away like really loud heavy metal but aren't too loud. The singer Billy Corgan has got one of the worst voices I've ever heard and you can't every hear him It sounds like he just talks like a little kid or something. I recommend AC/DC's STIFF UPPER LIP over this one At least they play guitar and MAN does it ever sound like a guitar Brian Johnson from AC/DC's voice is shot to pieces and can't hit the mids and high's but blows away the vocalist of the pumpkins any day of the week (Johnson from AC/DC has probably screamed at over 3000 concerts from 28 years including geordie and is over 50 years old and smokes heavily and BLOWS this Billy Corgan away!!!!!!!!!!!!

Michael
I was very impressed, back to the older days and thats what we wanna hear!!!!

Fan
Geez...this album is incredible!! I haven't been able to take it out of my CD player since I got it! This album oozes with emotions of all different types, as on all of the Pumpkin's albums. The writing, performance, and production are all way over the top. This is the best album that has come out in the last 5 years. If people would listen to this record....it could save rock.

33
compare this album to most of the music on TRL's top ten. the thong song... bad touch... anything by backstreet boys, n sync, britney spears or any of those other clones... when that music gets constant airplay and machina is almost totally ignored... why do you think music and society is in such a bad state?

Nick C
Very solid rock songs that would sound great on the radio - that just about sums up the album. Not reaching the impossible standards of Siamese Dream but still worth purchasing for Age Of Innocence alone.

Tom
Just average. The first half of the album is good but the second half drags.

Zer<0>
God!This is the most brilliant album Pumpkins ever had. When i listen to The Everlasting Gaze i get mad,in stand inside your love i love everyone,in raindrops+sunshowers i getting alive again, and in age of innocense i remember my childhood! The best album of 2000 since now!A good proof that WE KNOW(pumpkins)THEY'RE NOT DEAD!

Nathan
What can i say..i have been a follower since gish....SP has never let me down...great album for a great band...

Stuart Kirkby
This album is very nearly as good as Oasis new one. Why don't they do very well in the charts in Britian? They are massive in America and probably the second best band in the world at the moment behind of course...Oasis

Crestfallen
This album is an awesome proof that there's still good music out there. Pumpkins 4ever!!!!!

Jeff
This is the album that should have followed mellon collie instead of Ava Adore. From the first track you can tell that the return of Jimmy Chamberlin has had an effect on the band. The album is amazing. Right in line with the rest of the Pumpkins catalog.

Spumpkin
A classic Pumpkins album. It's a nice day so get off your butt and get it!

hells disciple
CRAP, CRAP, CRAP, CRAP, CRAP

weserman
this album is on a par with both mellon collie and siamese dream. no other band can produce music as good as this. the smashing pumpkins are the best. enough said

leo
this album sux ass...siamese dream was their moment in the sun...i hate those whiny ballads and fake-ass techno songs they try to do..."the everlasting gaze" is a cool song though...ONE

syee-fah
another great album from them..especially corgan ! the cool one for the new millenium ! worth to listen to !

Unimpressed
A true return to form. Corgan's writing at its best, and a much clearer and thundering production than on the underrated Adore. The album to bring them back to the spotlight. I've never been a fan, but these guys ooze talent.

Shan
Why do people feel that just because they don't really like a certain band, they have to put it down? Just because you don't like something, doesn't mean other people can't, a**hole!

exsqueeze me
more fudgepacker music. corgan is the queen fudgepacker

Blu
This album really pleased me. I feel it was an excellent followup to a horrible album. This album is worth a listen if you are a pumpkins fan, but if you don't like them then this album just like any of their other albums isn't for you

The Dennis
This album is the best F***in' Album in the World
