What kind of weak attitude is this. To complain about a having matured and changed. I too love the old cds, but how can you be mad at a band trying to do something new, insteat of getting stuck!

Posted by Viki:
i love metalica.it rocks

Posted by Jason:
Can't enough of any of their albums since I started listening from day one. I love jamm'n -Human

Posted by Patty :
My husband is a huge metalica fan and for Christmas I am trying to locate a X-mas song they did with an orchestra. We heard soem time ago and really liked it. If anybody knows the title, please let me know - Thanks.

Posted by metsux:
mega sh*t metallica should have after justace

Posted by Wackedout:
I'd call it a good album, with some qualifications. Some of the old songs came out great, especially Call of the Ktulu which sounded fantastic. The two new songs, No Leaf Clover and -Human, were also excellent- some of their best new songs in years. On many of the songs, though, the orchestra doesnt come thruogh much, and a couple of them they pulled off wrong and messed up horribly. Altogether though it was pretty good and if you like Metallica, get it.

Super!!!

Posted by #1 metallica fan:
This album rocks from beginning to end. I think it was the best $20 that I have ever spent. Hammet's guitar solos were some of the best I've ever heard. Hettfield's voice from this album will be suck in my head forever. I loved to hear the fans interacted with the band too. I rate this album a million out of 10 because they took a risk combing to different generas and it paid off. This is a truely unique album. If you don't have it buy it immediately.

This album was GREAT. This was a MASTERPIECE. Their best album yet. The SF symphony added to an already great group of musicians. 10/10 without a doubt!

Metallica rules. They are the bomb. Nothing else matters.

lamia
incrideble! unbelievable! master piece!

The MAN
S&M is one of the greatest albums ever. The SanFransico Symphony really adds to Metallica's already great music. Hetfield's singing is better than an other album, and The two new songs, Human and No Leaf Clover, are epic songs. Overall, I rate this album a 9 out of a 10, and the only reason I don't give it a 10 is because they messed up Battery and destroyed it and they did not play either "Unforgiven" or "The Unforgiven II". :(

Flavia
It rules

The Fifth Horseman
In my mind this is the most in your face, kick ass album ever released by an amazing metal band with an orchestra ever.Hetfield and Hammett show why they are the best metal guitarists.

desposable hero
S&M, what does it mean again for those unaware? It means bondage sex, the kind with whips and chains, where the girl whips the guy to turn him on while he lick her warm nice cliterus, oh I am jacking off to the thought of this right now, yes there is my Asian porn stash, oh yes ah ahh ahhhhhh...

Superior1
Basically, S&M is just good music, plain and simple. If you don't like it, you probably can't appreciate good music, no matter what type it is. Personally, I play the first CD to death...songs 1-3 are perfect for driving for some reason...start "The Ecstacy of Gold" when you leave the house, and "Call of the Ktulu" should start as you're getting on the highway, and while you're out there speeding, "Master of Puppets" comes on. It just seems to go with everything that's going on on the road. The orchestra seems to enhance every song (except "Of Wolf and Man") and "The Memory Remains" gives me goosebumps everytime I play it. It's that good. Just appreciate it for what it is...an enhancement. I think I'm gonna play it now...peace.

richallica
s/m RULZ.metallica is the best band ever.napster sux c**k.s/m is epic.metal/hard rock with the best symphony in the world.truelly epic.a work of art.CD OF THE DECADE.

it sucks.

tim
what does s,and m stand for?. sick and moranic.

Siouxie
Black Album was the best, other stuff just goes down the hill, worse and worse..they became old, ugly and greedy and forgot about music and why they make it...its all about the money these days isnt it?

Laura
I don't own it but my friend does. I only have Justice and Black Album. I really like this album, and I wouldn't call them "sell-outs." They did change, there is no doubt about it, but they are still the same Metallica. Unfortunately, I was only introduced to them in late '99, but I've heard everything from friends - old and new. I love the heaviness of the old stuff and the beauty of the newer, slower stuff. I can't pick a favorite! S&M is a great album, but I'd suggest buying the others first.

Jewish Dan
Metallica and pretty much anybody combined is gonna be worth paying $15-$25 on a CD to hear.Would've liked to hear "Unforgiven" and the newest one "I Disappear" with the San Francisco Orchestra but this CD is like all other things, it ain't perfect. Loved "Enter Sandman" and "The Memory Ramains". The new ones are cool too, with "No Leaf Clover" sounding the best of the whole CD.

want to be a good example
just so i don't make you more stupid; i want to fix my misspelling error. the word is probably.

I feel sorry for you
yeah, ok, so you are about 14yrs old, your first exposure to them was proable the reload album WHICH SUCKED! list kid, I have been a fan since you were in 1st grade. You speak like a child. face it son, there music stinks now, and i belive that it will from now on always stink. Face it boy, they had four GREAT albums, most bands don't even have that many, I too have seen them live, and they are great live ( saw them back in 87' 89' 91) so, put down your little korn cds' and the limp cd's and go buy kill em all, and please, for the good of mankind, don't speak, it only makes you look foolish

METALLICAFAN!!!
Metallica is one of the best bands that I have ever seen and heard. Their music is very catchy and the lyrics are awesome. This makes many wonder: is the guy below an fag or just stupid?

Wise Man
I belive that this album is pure 100% filler ( like the crap they put on hot dogs) The last ten years for metallica have not been good ones for me. They closed the 80's with Justice. I love that album, it is a drummers album. Many bands have gone the same way as Crapllica, it is really very sad! However I can't help but feel excitied everytime they put out something new, what ever it many be, because they say that it's like their old stuff. But the excitied feel goes away soon after I have heard the first song. It is time to let they REST IN PEACE! R.I.P Mettallica, 1983- 1989

ironman
awesome...great idea metalica!!!an orchestra and metal band?very good idea.

Joey
Oh how the mighty have fallen. No more to say

Michael
Oh man ! the best album, totally rocks and keep you full of energy, although I wished they had of put more on there!

Michael
The "metal militia" is long dead, so please don't pretend otherwise.

Eagles
This album is one of the greatest works in Rock N Roll history. That may sound outlandish but I stand by it. It is easily one of the most originally concepts for an album and it came through perfect. The symphony enhances every song (except for enter sandman and battery, those were failures) but the symphony really kicks a$$ with Metallica on For Whom the Bell Tolls, Call of the Ktulu, and the middle part of Master of Puppets, as well as on any ballad like One, Nothing Else Matters, and Hero of the Day. Overall the 1st cd is completely great, every song is better then the original except for Fuel and the Devils Dance which just completely lose their original feel and Bleeding Me sucked to begin with. The 2nd cd I had much more mixed feelings half the songs I didn't care for like- Wherever I may roam, outlaw torn(i hated that song already though), enter sandman, battery, and minus human. The other half were as good as the originals or much better as in the case of One and For Whom the Bell Tolls. Also to anyone who says Metallica has sold out I'm going to have to completely disagree and say that they have actually found their true symphonic roots (most of their 80's songs are played in a long symphonic style, which is what made them great, not the heavy guitar riffs in them).

Exsqueeze me
ohhh great now metallica are fudge packers....... can you say sell out?

hells disciple
DECENT BUT PLEASE DITCH THE ORCHESTRA

HardNHeavy
Weak, pathetic, SELLOUT, LOSERS! Metallica suck the SLONG! They SOLD OUT and do not play REAL music anymore, all they want to do is APPEAL to the masses. They have LOST all their true fans!

leo
METALLICA SUX ASS...their last good album was ...AND JUSTICE FOR ALL...i think it's time for retirement...

Joe
F*CK! Metallica Kicks Ass!

a real a*shole
Hoooooeeeeeee! I've heard some rockin' music in my time, but this album ain't it. Don't get me wrong, Metallica is one of the best there is, but this album was a disappointment. What is Metallica doing rocking along with a symphony orchestra for god's sake?

linzo
It was good but they shouldnt have let the symphony drown out the guitars as much. Oh yea I wish they would play - Human on the radio. I think its alot better than Clover. all in all another good album.

PATCHANKA
cool, with or without symphony metallica kick΄s-azz

Spider
It OWNS!

Hiagum
I agree with Smasher/Devourer, they did pull another "Metallica"

Smasher/Devourer
I think the people that hate it never actually listened to it. the symphony makes the songs heavier

Nate
F**k! this is bad! I can't believe that a great metal band like these guys would be dumb enough to play with a symphony! What the F**K were they thinking!?

chris
S&M is not a headbangers cd it is just a good remix of some of their songs with the san francisco symphony orchestra it is not as good as their older material but if you like METALLICA'S music you should get this album because you will enjoy ti. their son

chris
S&Mis a good album. Some of the songs sound messed up with the orcrestra. This is not as good as Master of puppets or the black album. I enjoy listening to it if you pick this CD up and listen to it you will toum

strawberry
Ohlalala!!! The sound is perfect and Metallica just kicks ass on stage, Jaymz and Kirk is the rawest guitar-team since Perry and Whitford!!! Some times you may wish the symphony would take a break, though... They better pack their bags and take a trip to Norway so I can have a heartattack!!!!!! Rocks!!!!!

Asche zu aschE
MetallicA is the best band that was ever forged , anyone who disagrees should be shot in the face. THE METAL MILITIA RISES MY FRIENDS!!!!!!!!!

MASTER OF PUPPETZZZZZZZZZZ
AMAZING-METALLICA CANT BE TOUCHED LIVE BY ANYONE ELSE!!!!!!!!! ALL THE SONGS SOUND GREAT, BUT MASTER OF PUPPETS AND HERO OF THE DAY ARE ESPECIALLY STRONG. METALLICA FOR LIFE AND IF YOU DONT LIKE IT GO ROT IN FUKIN HELL!!!!!!!!!!!MUTHAFUKAS

Thurgood Jenkins
i think it's tight that metallica is trying new things while pre-fabricated commercial chick bands are sticking to the predictable and catchy, but if metallica doesn't come out with some new material i'm gonna be really pissed.

BarRat
It good to hear a new side to some classic kick ass tunes. true MeTaLLicA fans will not be disappointed with this new addition....(^v^)

Frank

Huge Metallifuk here; S&M is just perfect, what a master puppet.. i mean piece. All though I recently purchased the boxset Live Sh*t, which has overshadowed S&M, but both live performances are kick ass and unique in it's own special way.

Metallica will always kick ass

lenny
i got this album for x-mas and i listned to it once, then put it up by the kenny g album i got last year

Donkeyballz
Amazing! I haven't gone a day without listening to this masterpiece of an album. The fact I only have one friend may have helped that though.

Mike
Even someone who is not a Metallica fan could enjoy this album!! You can listen to it all the way through over and over again and enjoy it just the same everytime.

4theLoveof Metallica
I got the cd for x-mas, then got to see them perform live in Detroit for New Year's Eve. They rocked the house. Metallica always was and still is one fo the best bands to ever play on stage. Their music just keeps getting better. No Leaf Clover and Hero of the Day with the symphony are awesome. I love all the guys in the band. They rock!!!

mainard
We have all your music. Had to have S&M the day it hit. As always just perfect.Blew the speakers in the van with in 10 minutes. The memory remains . Thanks- guys

MetallifreaK

Denise
S&M is one of the best! James voice has totally improved the connection with the symphony! No-one should miss hearing this CD.

TalikaMom
I think this is an awesome release. Michael Kamen had been biting at the bit for another liason with The Boyz since the elevator version of NEM. They plan on taking some well deserved time off, until James' second child is born, in May. They plan on taking another dogleg in their career with their next album, due out in 2001. This is one of the best albums ever. The full blown effect of a 104 piece symphony orchestra does justice to the abilities of Metallica. Congratulations to all involved, but especially to us, the fans. We reaped the greatest rewards. OUTSTANDING!!!!

Ishslayeran
I think Metallica still rules, but I didn't like the symphony.

Jimee
I guess I have to type this thing again because of bad language, although it wasn't bad. Metallica is heavier than ever, even with a symphony. But there songwriting is not heavy, just their playing. Some one tell Metallica that they should sound the way they did before. I am definetly going to get this cd....Metal Militia forever!

Shyven
Blah.... Next!

Yates
It's is probably the best album I have ever bought. The whole symphony thing is awesome.

Billy el Bobbo
Ityo waso goodo. I likeo the songo, No Lefo Clovero... Very Very Goodo

Nobody
This album kicks major ass. It is a return to the classic, heavy style of Metallica of years past, with a twist. That twist, being the San Fran Orchestra, is awesome. I hear the original studio recordings of these songs now, and wonder, "Why didn't I think of that?"

korndog_gtl
I think its awesome. The whole symphony backing them up sounds sweet. Its kewl to hear songs being redone too.

Man gongak!!
Peeh!! Ngancam abisslerr.....erk! erk! nie kira kali ke 88.8 kali aku beli dah!!!

Banjo
It kicks @$$, it is really good!

nexus
a kaleidoscopic journey of crunching metalli-riffs and melodic orchestral genius

james hetfield
absolutely brilliant one of the best things we i mean they have done since master of puppets

Darren
One of the best cd's metallica has made!!!

RockguyKev
This album is flat out awesome. I am not a fan of hybrid music, but this album just blew my mind. I was luke-warm on it until a friend of mine bought it. I went out that day and bought one for myself, a taped copy just wouldn't do. I don't care if you have every Metallica release already, this is not just a retread album. The songs all sound so new and great. Buy it, you'll be glad you did.

ted69mx
Sweeeeheeeeet new songs kick ass! but want more :o)!

S.L.A.Y.E.R.
Great double live album from one of my favorite bands ever. The two new tracks, human, and no leaf clover rawk, human actually sounds like an ...and justice for all outtake while no leaf, also a good track, is similar to something you would find on either the self titled smash or the loads. This is the best live hard rock act in the world (SLAYER makes slightly better studio albums....at least in my opinion) Yet still even they cant approach Metallica when it comes to live performances. I actually saw Metallica live about 2 wks ago at MSG!!!!NO ONE CAN TOUCH METALLICA'S LIVE PERFORMANCES

Fast Eddie
I think the symphony was a great idea it had great sound combination. The sound was perfect!

fudd
totally awesome, wish I was there in concert, every song is a master piece in it self, some are great, some are good, over all metallica haven't lost thier edge, and this shows what new ideas they come up with

blu
Thealbum as a whole had it's ups and downs, nothing else matters absolutely blew, but for whom the bell tolls and one were awesome. it shouldn't have been live however

blu
Thealbum as a whole had it's ups and downs, nothing else matters absolutely blew, but for whom the bell tolls and one were awesome. it shouldn't have been live however

HellRazor
The album is so majestic. The Call of Ktulu is beautiful, hell even Escasty of Gold was a nice touch. But I wish MOP was sung through all the way, instead of the crowd. They shouldn't have bothered with Fuel, but I gotta say that Minus Human reminds me

I It would be loads better if it wasn't live....I don't really like the vocals when it is live, in fuel he sounds like tired.

I hate rap
This album is weird. Some songs are great ("wherever i may roam","outlaw torn","the call of Ktulu" etc.), but "master of puppets" is not really great ...

that tall chick
this is one of the best albums i have ever heard, if not best, second best. it doesn't need new songs cause the old ones blew everybody away the way they were!! the symphony makes metallica sound classy but they still have that edge. having class is always a plus, no matter what form it's in: metal or symphonic.

Lucifer
I forgot to add that For Whom the bell tolls is gotta be my favorite. That song brought a tear to my eye.

Luicfer
This album almost gave me a woody. The songs sound triumphant and Beautiful. I was even more pleased with the fact that the guitars sound more fuller and louder than or the videos they played on RockShow. In the words of Billy Bob: "I give it a TEN! A

Beast
That last solo in One is actually played faster than it is on "Justice"

Metal Militia
My only complaint is the abundance of Load/Reload material and lack of 80s Metallica. I mean, if the symphony can keep up with Battery, they should have done some more 80s thrash stuff!! And One is beautiful. Even better than before!

That Guy Over There
The album is cool. Although some of the songs lose their original feel with the way the symphony played. Take Master Of Puppets for example. With the symphony added, it sounds like a glorious battlecry song, and not the same feeling as drugs taking over someone's life. Some songs do sound better though!

Diamondlies
My god! They took amazing music and added MORE to it. Good stuff. Sadly theres only like 6 or 7 old school tunes, and they shouldn't have bothered doing Fuel or The Memory Remains, but the rest is simple BEAUTIFUL...No frontin', I cried during some of the songs (like the emotional "Bleeding Me").

Dr Fever
A surefire winner. Oh, you can complain that this is a travesty, but, throw away all your bu!!$hit one-sided views and take this albums for what it is...BEAUTIFUL. Not to say it can't kick your ass (Minus Human, Battery and For Whom The Bell Tolls handle that.) All I can say is own this ablum now, or regret it later. Period.
