B Sides for 01/25/2012
"I love that song," says singer Amy Lee. "I think that's a very emotional outpouring kind of song that's just honest." The video is directed by Dean Karr, who's known for his work with artists like the Dave Matthews Band, Cypress Hill, and Marilyn Manson. Check it out here
In late 2011, life settlement leader The Lifeline Program released the cheeky music video featuring White rapping on Luciana's Billboard No.1 Dance Club track, along with bodybuilders, cheesecake, break-dancing and a boa constrictor. A portion of the song's iTunes net proceeds benefit the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association, watch the video here.
Mastodon again dabble in the psychedelic with their new music video, which blends 1950′s style monster movie effects with animation from renowned artist and friend of the band, Tim Biskup, who also directed the new clip. The prog metal quartet have again managed to produce a visually striking experience without actually appearing in the video, as they previous did for the single 'Curl of the Burl.' We can't help but wonder how awesome this video would be in 3D. Check it out here.
Halestorm have named the new album 'The Strange Case of" and it will hit digital outlets and stores everywhere on April 10th. The band will also kick off their supporting role on the Godsmack/Staind co-headlined Mass Chaos tour within a week of the new album's release. Anthrax are out supporting their latest effort, "Worship Music." The dozen-plus dates that come on the heels of the bands' five-week Fall trek that packed venues from Philadelphia to Los Angeles, kicked off in Las Vegas on January 22 and will take in some fifteen cities over a three-week period. Death Angel are the main support act on all dates. "The first leg of the tour with Testament and Death Angel was an amazing way to end a great year for Anthrax," said Anthrax's Scott Ian, "and it went above and beyond my expectations! Sold out shows, raging crowds and EPIC war dances! So we figured what better way to start 2012 than to continue this thrash-fest into the new year!!! Thank you all for giving us this privilege to come and play for you. See you soon!" Check out the video here

Mary Ford's nephew came into the shop to deal a cream, 1961 Gibson SG that once belonged to the singer and, of course, her famous ex-husband Les Paul. The Huffington Post reports that Ford's nephew also brought a bunch of documents to confirm the guitar's authenticity as well as Les's famously unenthusiastic response to the SG. After standing firm on his asking price (reminding the buyers, "You're getting history here"), the guitar sold for $90,000. more on this story
Here's how Grace remembers events in her autobiography Somebody to Love? A Rock-and-Roll Memoir: "As I held my newborn baby in my arms, a Spanish nurse came into my hospital room to attend to antiseptics and linens. She was holding a framed certificate that looked like a high school diploma, and she said, 'We give these to all the new mothers. You see, it says where she was born, what time, and the name of the baby goes here.' She pointed to an empty line in the document. 'What is your baby's name?' she asked. I noticed a crucifix around her neck and spontaneously said, 'god. We spell it with a small 'g' because we want her to be humble.'" Slick obviously found her joke amusing, as she continues: "The nurse asked me to repeat what I'd said. I obliged her. After hearing it a second time, deciding that the blasphemy was real, she haltingly entered "god" on the parchment, probably expecting to go through life repeating novenas for her participation in this profanity. When she was through filling in the irreverent name, she ran to the telephone to call Herb Caen, the San Francisco Chronicle newspaper columnist ... He published the information about the birth and the supposed appellation Paul and I had chosen..." more on this story
