U2's New Album Will Not Help Launch iPhone 6
(Radio.com) U2 is denying reports that the new iPhone 6 launch will feature the band in a pivotal role. Rumors surrounding the band included the phone being pre-loaded with their upcoming 13th album or that the band would be performing at the gadgets launch party, according to Business Insider.

"They are not releasing their album on the iPhone, and they are not performing at the iPhone launch," a spokesperson for the Irish band said in a statement.

These rumors seem to have begun at, appropriately, Macrumors, where one Stephen Browne apparently stumbled upon a music video shoot for U2 (which included a director Mark Romanek sighting), with the music promoter claiming that the footage centered around a mobile device.

"During the previews, they played the new SpongeBob movie trailer where, lo and behold, in the middle of it who should appear but Slash playing guitar on the beach. All this to the throes of 'Welcome To The Jungle' raging on the soundtrack. Junior and I just looked at each other and started laughing. (Classic Rock) Paul Di'Anno has released a clip from his upcoming live DVD, featuring a performance of the Iron Maiden classic "Charlotte The Harlot" - without most of the lyrics.

The frontman delivers rather than sings the Iron Maiden classic, pausing halfway through the performance to ask the crowd: "Do you know the words to this?"

Di'Anno recently confirmed he'd ditched plans to retire after successful leg surgery meant he was able to keep performing. He said: "I spoke to the wife and she said, 'Oh, my God - if you stay home for two months I'll probably murder you.' So I decided in the end, 'F*** it.'"

The new live video comes from Di'Anno's upcoming release The Beast Arises, shot in Poland earlier this year, which will be released on October 6th in Europe and October, 7th in North America on DVD. A CD and double LP vinyl release will be released in early December.

Jack White Performs Stripped-Down White Stripes Song
(Radio.com) Jack White doesn't revisit his White Stripes discography a crazy amount save for certain ones at concert performances, but the Nashville-via-Detroit artist made an exception recently while in France.

White resurrected one of his old songs for La Blogothque, appearing on the show to perform the White Stripes' 2001 White Blood Cells track, "The Same Boy You've Always Known," and a more recent song, "Entitlement," from his solo album Lazaretto, which came out earlier this year.

Performing alongside a cellist, banjo player and violinist in Paris' Chteau de Fontainebleau's Saint-Saturnin Chapel, White gives especially stripped down renditions of both songs, without using a microphone.

In the video, directed by Colin Solal Cardo, we also get a tour of the Chapel's gorgeous grounds as White meanders through them while playing his guitar.

Jack White is currently on tour in support of Lazaretto. Watch the video here.

Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor Inspired By Massage Parlor Music
(Radio.com) Ever wonder where Trent Reznor gets the inspiration for his collaborative scores with Atticus Ross for David Fincher's films? Like the one that won him an Academy Award for The Social Network?

In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, the Nine Inch Nails frontman spoke about his recent work with Ross on Fincher's upcoming film Gone Girl, and gave a strange and pretty awesome glimpse into his creative process.

According to Reznor, "[Fincher] said, 'Think about the really terrible music you hear in massage parlors. The way that it artificially tries to make you feel like everything's OK. And then imagine that sound starting to curdle and unravel.'"

Fincher remembers this conversation a little differently, noting, "I said a spa, not a massage parlor! I was listening to that calming, placating music and thought, we need to tap into this. The movie is about the facade of the good neighbor, the good Christian, the good wife. So the notion was to start with music that's attempting to give you a hug."

In the interview, Reznor also discusses how his process differs from traditional scoring. Read about that here.

Cage the Elephant Release Cigarette Daydreams Video
(Radio.com) In case that there was any doubt of the Lana Del Rey Effect, take a look at Cage the Elephant's new video for "Cigarette Daydreams." The mostly black-and-white video is a vintage-like collage of home videos and French New Wave-indebted vignettes that has a tragic lining.

There's a kidnapping, a fatal ending and dancing in the middle of the Los Angeles river. - which is to say, the whole thing is pretty surreal. The video comes a year after the track "Cigarette Daydreams" was released on Cage the Elephant's 2013 album, Melophobia.

"Cigarette Daydreams" was initially shared by Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney on his personal Twitter account. The two bands are going on tour together this fall, starting today.

Nico & Vinz Discuss Their Rise To Fame
(Radio.com) Last summer, way back when "Blurred Lines" and "Get Lucky" ruled the radio, no one in America had ever heard of Nico & Vinz. And that's not just hyperbole. Back then, the duo - comprised of Nico Sereba and Vincent Dery - was known as Envy. Funny that a name change would lead them to become just that in the eyes of their musical peers.

Nico & Vinz's debut U.S. single, "Am I Wrong," was not only the most Shazam-ed song in the world throughout much of the summer, but was streamed over 100 million times on Spotify and has gotten nearly 65 million views on YouTube - more than 80 million if you count the song's lyric video.

The duo just wrapped up a U.S. arena tour opening for Bruno Mars, and are prepping to play Brooklyn's Barclays Center on September 9 for Fashion Rocks, a Fashion Week concert airing live on CBS (Radio.com's parent company) at 8 pm EST. There the guys will share the stage with Jennifer Lopez, Usher, Miranda Lambert, Jennifer Hudson and others.

Luckily, spending the summer with Mars prepared the guys for large gigs opening for big artists. "Warming up is a funny thing, you go on stage and people might not even know who you are," Vinz tells Radio.com. "You've got to give it all you got. Hopefully, you'll gain a couple of new fans. I think we did a great job of that."

Being an opener can be tough on the ego, but Nico said that on Mars' tour "at least 50% of the place would be filled when we started. During the course of our show, more people would come and sometimes at the end, we'd get a standing ovation."

The duo sound surprisingly low-key when they talk about sharing the stage with Mars and don't seem to be too nervous about sharing a stage with J. Lo or Duran Duran at Fashion Rocks. They chalk that up to being out-of-towners.

"It's funny, people are like, 'You're so calm about all of these things.' But that's because we never know how big something is before we get there, because we didn't grow up in America with all of these things," Vinz says. "But we know who those artists are. We think we have the ability to perform on the same stage as these people. We just want to give it everything we've got. We just want to show the world who Nico & Vinz are."

The only thing most Americans know about Nico & Vinz is that they're the duo behind the song "Am I Wrong," and some may not even know that they are the ones who sing that song. "That's why we need to just go out to wherever we can to perform for people, so they can associate a name with the song," Vinz says. "The song is huge, but not everyone knows Nico & Vinz. That's what we're working on now."

Therein lies the challenge, says Nico, the must show people that they are more than just one song. It's something they hope to do with their full length U.S. debut, Black Star Elephant,, out October 14. "We hope people will see us for our body of work," he says.

Singled Out: Crucified Barbara's Electric Sky
Today Crucified Barbara guitar player Klara Force tells us about the song "Electric Sky" from their brand new album "In The Red", which comes out next week. Here is the story:

We started writing 'Electric Sky' already before recording the last album. The monotonous guitar riff was born when Nicki (drums) and I were fooling around jamming on the piano after a rehearsal. We played the kind of naive, childish octaves very rhythmically and made up funny melodies. The chorus was totally different at the time. It wasn't even close to perfect then but we felt it had a lot of potential so we decided to take the time to make it perfect.

We worked a lot on the beat and feel we found a cool groove that fits Mia's delicious voice and melodies perfectly. We wanted to write a song you can dance to and this is probably as disco as Crucified Barbara will ever get.

Writing and playing music is sometimes like a force of nature. The creativity and energy feel almost supernatural. It's like the northern lights, it feels magical but it is actually happening. That beautiful feeling is our Electric Sky.

So... You wanna dance or headbang? It doesn't matter, to this song you can do both.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself here and learn more about the album right here!
