Carly Simon TV
PR reports: Carly Simon will perform "Let The Riverrun" on Good Morning America Oct 26th and "You Belong To Me" on The Today Show on Oct 28th to promote her new album, Never Been Gone, which revisits songs originally written throughout Carly Simon's extensively long and productive career. The CD was recorded at home and consists of new largely acoustic versions of Carly's biggest hits and two brand new tracks and it will hit stores on October 27th.

Carly's son, Benjamin Taylor was the originator of the idea and Carly willingly (though, sometimes hesitatingly) complied and lived up to the dare. Carly, Benjamin, and the rest of the producers, known as "Paphiopedilium," chose the songs, most of which were Carly's best-known and commercially successful. In the CDs generous liner notes is an explanation not only of the word, "Paphiopedilium," but an explanation of the reworking of each of the songs. Carly hopes that even without these notes the music will speak for itself.

Says Simon, "It was a revelation to me that these lyrics and melodies were so innocent of age and experience when I composed them back when. 'These are the Good Old Days' were not nearly as 'good' or as 'old.' I was encouraged by performing some of these songs on a promotional tour for the album This Kind Of Love, which was released a year ago. Ben, David (Saw), Peter (Calo), Larry (Ciancia) and I, with only the instruments in our hands, revised the songs: songs such as 'You're So Vain' and 'Anticipation.' They came out all different! It was a sport of sort, as well as a visit with a psychiatrist." - more on this story

Fever Ray Deluxe
PR reports: After an astonishing series of US live dates, Fever Ray (a.k.a. Karin Dreijer-Andersson) announces a deluxe edition of her critically acclaimed debut album (out November 24th, 2009).

"Fever Ray Deluxe" contains the CD album plus two new studio recordings, cover versions of Vashti Bunyan's "Here Before" and Nick Cave and Anita Lane's "Stranger Than Kindness," which Fever Ray also performs during the live set. The second disc "Live in Luela" captures the full Fever Ray live show on CD. The third disc is a DVD featuring all previously released Fever Ray videos and an exclusive video for "Stranger Than Kindness," directed by acclaimed multimedia artist Andreas Nilsson (who also designed Fever Ray and The Knife's live shows)

"Fever Ray is uncut darkness, a combination of silty bass and high, brambly sounds. Andersson sings in an unfiltered voice that favors an avian, hard sound. She also digitally alters the pitch of her voice, making it sound like the voice of male mummy, perhaps singing to himself as he looks through an album of water-damaged photographs," Sasha Frere-Jones, The New Yorker. August Brown of The Los Angeles Times writes of Fever Ray's live show, "[Fever Ray works] at the absolute forefront of sound, stage and the ways the two inform each other...Fever Ray never shies from its more theatrical and modern impulses, the real emotions Andersson's music brings out -- enticement, disquiet and unknowable mystery -- are much older than the stage.
