Day in Pop Report for 08/15/2011
Sheen was taking batting practice with a few of his friends when he says he ruptured the ulnar nerve in his elbow. He can barely grip the bat now and it kept him from hitting any out of the yard. Sheen told us as long as he's playing ball, he feels just fine, saying, "I'm at home and I'm at peace." more on this story
"We've been working hard on this album not only in Nashville, but in studios across the country because I've been on the Idol tour," he says. "We're putting what I believe are the best songs we could find on it and I really hope everyone likes it. The whole experience has been amazing! I love working with my album producer, Mark Bright, and have gotten to work with some of the best musicians in Nashville!" Scotty has been well-received by the country music industry since winning Season 10 of American Idol in May, as evidenced by the fact that some of the best writers in country music wrote songs specifically for this project, which can be unheard of for a new artist. "We've got songs on it from some of the best songwriters in country music," he says. "I'm so fortunate to have so many talented people contributing to my first album." more on this story
As TMZ first reported, The Game says it was his friend who gave out the number to the Compton Sheriff's Station ... telling people to call it if they wanted an internship ... and causing them to be overrun with calls. But Capt. Mike Parker tells TMZ that doesn't close this case just yet. He tells us, "We find the rapper's alleged comments in news media reports and on Twitter interesting and relevant, including who he says is actually responsible. Capt. Parker wants Game to contact the Sheriff's Department so they can sort this all out. Until then, Capt. Parker says, "The investigation continues." more on this story
Anthony was sentenced to 1 year's probation for her 2010 check fraud conviction. The judge who sentenced her said in court the time Casey spent in jail would not count toward completing probation, but the order the judge signed mistakenly allowed Casey's probation to run concurrently with her time in the pokey. A judge ruled on Friday that the judge who sentenced Casey clearly made an innocent mistake, and it wouldn't make sense to allow Casey to get credit for the time she was in jail. After all, the point of probation is to test how a person behaves when they are in the real world, not while they're locked up with few opportunities to misbehave. But now her lawyers tell TMZ they will appeal Friday's ruling. If they win, it would mean Casey would get a huge break -- her probation would already be completed -- because of a technical error. Casey's lawyers say if they lose their appeal .... they want her to serve her probation in a state other than Florida. more on this story

It was at the beginning of this 2010 European tour that Crane wrote this song about feeling homesick and missing her man. "At the time, I had just been on vocal rest for the about four months and I was pretty rusty," she says.
Peelander-Yellow says, "There is no doubt that this is the greatest hits album of Peelander-Z. All the Peelander-Z songs you want to hear are in this album!!!"
An MJ family rep tells us, "Paris, Blanket and Prince have been asked to attend the MJ Tribute in Wales and they have decided to go." The rep adds, "They are extremely excited and they're hoping they will have the opportunity to contribute in some way by making a speech. Nothing has been set in stone yet for how they can help, but they really hope they can. " However, we're told, "Jermaine and Randy are fighting it." As TMZ previously reported, the two brothers feel the timing of the tribute is "inappropriate" -- explaining, "We find it impossible to support an event that is due to take place during the criminal trial surrounding Michael's death." more on this story
In the Harry Potter movies, he's the fantastic villain you love to hate. Like the other members on the HP team, he's a phenomenal actor. Apparently, he once said "I was thinking of doing some N-Dubz-style stuff. I am looking to get into the grime rap UK scene. I'm going to change my image backward caps, the lot." He released a tune called "Hawaii". How it has anything at all to do with the grime rap UK scene, is anyone's guess. Regardless, whatever genre it actually is, hopefully it's a joke. more on this story
