Day in Pop Report for 08/19/2011
The song -- written by Ne-Yo and Afrojack, also defendants -- has a line: "Hustlers move aside, so I'm tiptoein, keep flowin' / I got it locked up like Lindsay Lohan." Lindsay is pissed, claiming in her lawsuit ... "the lyrics, by virtue of its wide appeal, condemnation, excoriation, disparaging or defamatory statements by the defendants about the plaintiff are destined to do irreparable harm to the plaintiff." Lindsay, who claims in the lawsuit she is "a professional actor of good repute and standing in the Screen Actors Guild, is suing under the New York civil rights laws, which protects people from having their name exploited for commercial purposes. Lindsay alleges the appearance of her name in the song "causes [Lindsay] to be associated and identified in connection with defendants." The suit -- filed by Stephanie Ovadia -- seeks an injunction to stop all of the defendants from broadcasting the song. It also seeks unspecified damages. Ovadia is the same lawyer who filed the E*TRADE lawsuit on Lindsay's behalf, which settled for a confidential sum.
Law enforcement tells TMZ, Miller and his sis were at some house party in North Carolina -- when his sister decided she wanted to take off. According to law enforcement, Jason's sister claims he wouldn't let her leave -- and put her into a headlock. We're told Jason's sister managed to escape and notified the Chatham County Sheriff -- who had Jason arrested later that evening for simple assault and false imprisonment. Jason has since posted bail and been released. Several calls to both Jason and his sister were not returned.
The emotionally-charged sold-out event attracted over 200 people to a private reception and silent auction at the Hotel Indigo's Rialto Room for a pre-show celebration before the crowd of 1,100 enjoyed an evening featuring all the artists 'in the round' with Ford's band backing the performances. Altogether, the evening raised over $85,000 for the families, with monies still being donated in the wake of the performances. The aptly titled "Colt Ford and Friends" event was conceived after Ford learned of a shooting earlier this year in his community that left his high school friend, Senior Officer Howard, injured and resulted in the death of Senior Officer Christian, leaving both families at a financial disadvantage in the tough economy. In less than one month, Ford organized the fundraiser and called in friends to help him pay tribute to Christian's memory. more on this story
Jose tells us, he's "looking forward to the bar completing its investigation, so that it can be dismissed just like the 20 previous complaints." Jose adds, "It is part of the job whenever you fight an unpopular cause." As we previously reported -- Jose is being investigated for allegedly hiding information from the court ... after a clerical error gave Casey an unintentional break in her probation.

Sources connected to the wedding tell TMZ ... party crashers are being treated as a serious threat ... and not only will security constantly patrol the grounds at the Montecito estate ... but we're told they'll also get support from the sky ... in the form of roaming choppers. We're told the majority of the wedding festivities will take place either indoors or under tents to thwart the paparazzi -- because the Kardashians don't want the footage to leak out before their special airs on TV.
J.Cole will be hitting the concert trail in support of his debut album, Cole World: The Sideline Story, which will be released on September 27th. The mostly self-produced album is preceded by the lead single, "Work Out," for which the video premiered August 15th on BET. more on this story
The former talk show host was at LAX last night ... where he explained that because he uses weed for a medicinal purpose, he needs to have his pipe the same way that a diabetic needs to carry around a syringe ... strictly as a "utensil" for taking his medication. Williams claims officials tested the pipe for marijuana residue -- and the tests came back negative so "the thing was completely thrown out of court." Still, Montel says the fact that officials FOUND his pipe to begin with "bodes well" for security ... adding, "I'm glad they found it."

It all went down last night at a club in Montreal called La Mouche -- where Weezy was hosting the afterparty for his show. We're told some jackass snuck into the back room and unleashed the chemical into the ventilation system -- and everyone had to be evacuated, including Weezy. So far, it's unclear if police are investigating -- but a rep for Lil Wayne says the rapper is "okay and gearing for his next stop in Toronto." more on this story

17-year-old Villegas -- who starred in Bieber's "Baby" video -- had already obtained a temporary restraining order against Steven Cintron after he posted several alarming YouTube videos, containing numerous violent threats. Now, an L.A. Superior Court judge has extended the order -- requiring Cintron to stay at least 100 yards away from Villegas for the next three years. Cintron is also banned from posting any more videos about Villegas. Hopefully, Cintron gets the message -- if he violates the order, he could wind up behind bars. more on this story
"Radioactive is the fallout of my life's inspirations, a testament to my ability to survive it all and to tell the story," said Yelawolf. "Sometimes I want to party, sometimes I want to fight and sometimes I want to cry. I'm human and this album is as honest as it gets." The first single from Radioactive, "Hard White (Up In The Club)," featuring Lil Jon and produced by Hydrox, is currently available via all digital retailers. more on this story

Sources close to production tell us there's some turmoil at the network -- while everyone realizes Russell's death will make the show more dramatic and watchable ... they're also nervous about pushing the envelope too far. We're told Bravo doesn't know how much Russell footage, if any, will air in the show's second season -- but the one thing everyone agrees on is not taping the funeral services. We're also told the cast had a meeting yesterday -- sans network execs -- to console each other. Taylor Armstrong was not there. more on this story
Here is the synopsis: Dr Drew, Bob and Shelly have a lot of trepidation about the cast as they ready themselves to leave the safe confines of the rehab facility and reenter a world full of the temptations that brought them there. The end of in-patient treatment is just the beginning of their long roads to continued sobriety. If you've been wondering how all of the 'celebrity rehabbers' from past seasons have been doing with their sobriety, VH1 will air "Celebrity Rehab Revisited" five, one-hour retrospectives of the series. "Celebrity Rehab Revisited" will serve as "where are they now" specials with Dr. Drew and his head councilor Bob Forrest looking back on all five seasons of Celebrity Rehab. These specials will include visits with former patients to see where they are now in their fight for sobriety. We will see some patients achieving incredible success and living fulfilling lives, and others continuing their struggle to maintain sobriety outside the safety of rehab. more on this story
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ, "No criminal charges of any kind will be filed against Sean Avery stemming from his August 5 arrest for battery on a police officer." As TMZ first reported, cops showed up to Sean's Hollywood Hills home in response to a noise complaint -- and when Avery answered the door ... he allegedly shoved an officer and closed the door. But according to law enforcement sources, a further investigation revealed that no officer was ever actually pushed. We're told the officer who made the battery report did so after his foot was caught in Avery's front door -- and multiple witnesses have corroborated the story. According to sources, police don't believe it's appropriate to charge Avery -- and agree the matter would be best handled by an informal meeting with the L.A. City Attorney, who's expected to officially close the case ... without prosecution. more on this story
"I can't remember the last time, I played a "real" gig on the strip says the comic everyone loves to hate," Dice says of the event. "The Roxy is one of great rock clubs of all time and I am the 'greatest rock 'n' roll comedian' that ever lived, so it's only natural that I play the joint."
When I decided I wanted to do a remix to "Go N Get It," I knew I wanted it to be something big but also something different. I've been lucky enough to be a part of some big records but I wanted to make this something new where I brought in some people I hadn't worked with before. I wanted to really involve the streets and embody the struggle from different parts of the country. When I sat down to get this all done I made a list of who I wanted involved. I set out on a mission to make this track showcase different areas and the mentalities that come with them. First, I called Beanie Sigel and I rapped the hook to him over the phonehe was so inspired that he started rapping his verse back to me right then and there. I knew then that Beans was going to bring the track up a level, I could hear the struggle in his voice. He killed it. Next up I went to Busta Rhymes, a real O.G., one of the greats! When you deal with Busta you know you're only going to end up with the best. Having a legend like him on the remix meant a lot to me. Now we'd hit Philly with Beans and New York with Busta so I decided to head south and get Pusha T involved. The track is really about getting the streets involveddifferent blocks and areas and what they are about. Pusha reps VA and brought his side of the hustle to the song. After Pusha I only had one more person I needed to push it all over the edge. That's when I went to Styles P and added some more New York vibe to it. I didn't let anyone know who else was going to be on the track, I kept it all internal. I'd tease it here and there to some of them, but for the most part people were in the dark. I ended up getting everyone I wanted and created a real street remix that I am proud of. Everyone involved did their thing and so far everyone has loved it. The response has been real positive across the board. Check out that "Go N Get It Remix" and make sure to get my album Blood, Sweat & Tears in stores now! Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself right here!
