(TMZ) Kid Cudi is NOT Don Draper, so he doesn't get to smoke wherever he wants -- and he learned that lesson the hard way when he sparked up at the MTV VMAs last week.
Honchos at the Nokia Theater at L.A. Live spotted the rapper puffing away as Lady Gaga went on stage to accept the award for Best Female Video -- which is a problem because the place is a non-smoking venue.
A rep for the building tells TMZ an usher was dispatched to speak with Cudi -- where, "He was asked to put it out and he complied."
And they all lived happily ever after. more on this story

(Hubbub) Bess Rogers has released a new single (with a Beatles b-side) as she kicks off a late summer tour. The new single, "Anchor," comes from the forthcoming album, Out Of The Ocean.
"It's always nice when you don't have to labor over what to do on a song, and this was one of those. The song itself is pretty literal - just about having someone who grounds you and brings you back to reality," states Rogers regarding the new song.
"Anchor" was released as a 'digital 45' worldwide and features a cover of the Beatles' classic, "In My Life." Stream both tracks here
Rogers launched a new tour with Ian Axel and Allie Moss. Dubbed the Intergalactic Tour of the Universe and Beyond tour shows kicked off on August 24th in Seattle, Washington and conclude September 21st in Boston, MA. more on this story

(TMZ) Jon Cryer's efforts to get out of paying child support to his ex-wife -- who temporarily lost custody of their kid -- have been stymied after an appeals court ruled the actor MUST shell out $8,000 per month.
The "Two and a Half Men" actor had been waging the battle for years -- in 2009, Jon filed papers claiming he shouldn't have had to pay a single cent to Sarah Trigger Cryer because back then, she only had custody of their young son 4% of the time.
But, the California Court of Appeal believes lowering Jon's child support obligation could have a negative effect on the child -- and yesterday, it rejected Jon's appeal.
The court explained, "Although, understandably, Jon may have found the situation unfair, the primary focus must remain on the child's well-being, not the parents' feelings."
Since 2009, the courts have increased Sarah's custody rights -- and according to her lawyer, she now has custody of their son for 35% of the time ... and the courts NEVER ruled that she was an unfit parent.
Sarah continues to receive $8,000 per month in child support. more on this story

Thomas says he understands why producers wouldn't cast two famous transgender people on the show -- but he's still pretty bummed out ... telling us, "I wanted to try my new body out. I'm an athlete and I know I would have excelled."

As TMZ previously reported, members of the The Outlawz -- Tupac's former rap group -- released a video in which they claim they rolled up Pac's ashes with weed and smoked him up at a family memorial event. The rappers claim Pac's mother was present at the time.

The family rep tells us ... the Shakurs simply don't know if there's any truth to the claims made by the Outlawz -- but if they DID smoke Tupac, they "would have had to sneak the remains past the family member in charge of keeping an eye on the ashes at the memorial."
