Day in Pop Report for 12/13/2011
Our office was shut down by a planned power outage. As a result we were unable to put together a Day in Pop report today. Instead we are bringing you the Top 11 Celeb Arrests of 2011! Enjoy, we will be back with a full report tomorrow!
The bassist was arrested last month after police were called to his apartment following an argument with his girlfriend. He refused to let her leave and it took armed officers to persuade him to set her free after two hours. A further two hours later he gave himself up, and a search of the property uncovered a loaded shotgun and some drugs. more on this story
Deputy Joseph May says: "On Sunday at approximately 6.44pm I responded to the office lobby in reference to a female who was covered in blood and possibly intoxicated. Upon arrival at 6.49 I made contact with Diane Cusano. "Diane stated to me that she and her husband Vincent Cusano had gotten into an argument about a female he was talking to. She stated Vincent became verbally abusive, swearing and telling her to 'Get the f*** out of the house". "Diane stated that Vincent then smacked her in the face. She stated he grabbed her by the hair and threw her to the ground, then dragged her through a pile of glass from a broken plate. She stated he threw her on the ground a total of four times before he let her get up and she drove to the sheriff's office. The tale continues here
He's said to have entered a branch of the Waldgreens chain in Attleboro, Massachusetts, just before 1pm local time. It's reported he showed a pharmacist a message on his phone which claimed a bomb would be detonated if they didn't hand over an amount of prescription painkillers. The thief left the premises with six bottles of pills and hired a cab. Police investigation suggested the vehicle in question had taken the suspect to the tour bus area of the Comcast Center in nearby Mansfield, where Coheed and Cambria were preparing to support Soundgarden. Police officers arrested him just minutes before the band were set to hit the stage. He was identified as the suspect by store staff, the cab driver and by CCTV footage. more on this story
(TMZ) Sly Stone -- leader of the group Sly and the Family Stone -- is slated to appear in an L.A. courtroom Friday after the singer was arrested for cocaine possession back in April ... TMZ has learned. Stone -- real name Sylvester Stewart -- was arrested on April 1 ... after LAPD officers say they found freebase cocaine on the 68-year-old during a vehicle search. TMZ spoke with Sly's attorney, James Silverstein, who tells us Stone was riding in a buddy's camper vehicle with some friends ... when it was pulled over for a routine traffic violation. During the stop, Silverstein says, cops searched the vehicle and found the coke. Stone was arrested and hauled to a nearby police station. more on this story
Police in Salt Lake City, Utah, pulled over the van he was travelling in after it crossed a central reservation. One officer reported seeing Starr popping pills as he approached the vehicle. When questioned Starr said: "Hey, officer, have you heard of Alice in Chains? I used to be the bass guitarist. We're putting together a new band." He was found to be in possession of twelve pills ? six opioid analgesics and six anxiety controllers ? without prescriptions. The name on the prescription label of a bottle had been scratched off. more on this story
Cops searched his car and found less than 50 grams of cannabis and drug paraphernalia. He spent a few hours behind bars before being released, and will face trial in the coming months. It's the second time in six months the former Skid Row frontman has been jailed. In November he found himself behind bars after a bar brawl. more on this story
Law enforcement sources say ... Flo Rida was driving around in his red and black Bugatti -- valued around $1.7 million -- when cops observed the rapper swerving in his lane and pulled him over around 3:30 AM. During the stop, cops detected the odor of alcohol -- so Flo was given a field sobriety test ... and didn't perform very well. Flo -- real name Tramar Dillard -- was arrested on suspicion of DUI and taken to a nearby station where he is currently being booked. Sources tell us Flo's blood alcohol level was more than double the legal limit. UPDATE: According to the police report, obtained by TMZ, cops say a large crowd gathered around Flo after cops had pulled him over. Several bystanders were "trying to get officers to let [Flo Rida] go. Some individuals were offering to drive [Flo] home." When the officer tried to conduct a "walk the line" test -- Flo told the cop, "Officer I can't do this. I don't feel I can't walk a straight line. I had a few drinks. Let's try another test." Flo then tried to convince the officer, "I can make it home." Cops disagreed -- and claim his B.A.C. was .185 .... more than twice the legal limit. more on this story
(TMZ) A guy who has co-starred with Katy Perry and Kim Kardashian was popped by police after allegedly fighting a security guard. Josh Kloss -- who appeared in Perry's "Teenage Dream" video and Kim's Super Bowl commercial for Skechers -- was hanging out at the Hollywood and Highland shopping center last Tuesday night. He says he was outside smoking a cigarette when one of the security guards asked him to put the smoke out. Josh claims he was trying to argue the point and next thing he knew ... he had five security officers on top of him. LAPD was called in and Kloss was booked for misdemeanor battery. He tells TMZ he didn't get physical with the guard ... it was the other way around. Security at the Hollywood and Highland had no comment and the LAPD says they are investigating the arrest. more on this story
(EAR) Two members of Cerebral Bore were mistakenly arrested in New York City recently amidst the hunt for a man who murdered a number of people at a drug store. The band had been out celebrating the end of their tour when guitarist Paul Mcguire and bassist Kyle Rutherford went to a drug store in the early morning hours. Although the store's doors were open and the lights were on, it appeared that it was not officially open for business as an alarm went off, so the band members left and went to another store down the road. As they were leaving, a number of NYPD squad cars surrounded them and they were thrown to the ground by police officers and arrested at gunpoint. The two were charged with criminal trespass, petit larceny, burglary and criminal possession of stolen property. Mcguire and Rutherford spent the next 36 hours being moved between crowded jail cells and witnessing violence and intimidation from the other inmates. The real drug store killer was later arrested and, following a court appearance, all charges were dropped and the members of Cerebral Bore were eventually released. The two discuss these events here
Stockdale, 35, was drinking with friends at the Archive Bar near his home in Brisbane, Australia on Sunday, while a local band were performing a set. He interrupted them and demanded to be allowed to play a song, then sang a cover of the Beatles' Let It Be with the addition of strong language. He had to be forcibly removed from the stage, and was told he wouldn't be served any more drinks. When security staff asked him to leave he sat on the floor and refused to move, at which point the police were called. more on this story
TMZ broke the story ... 21-year-old Soulja and 4 other men were arrested in Temple, GA early Tuesday morning ... after cops pulled over their Escalade because one of the lights on the vehicle was out. Sources tell us ... when cops approached the car, they detected a "strong odor" of marijuana ... and searched the SUV. We're told cops found a briefcase during the search, which they believe belongs to Soulja Boy ... and inside, officers claim they found a "substantial amount" of weed and a firearm. Law enforcement sources tell us ... all 5 men were hauled to a nearby jail and booked for marijuana possession and a gun charge. All 5 men have since been released after posting bond. more on this story
