Her ailment was revealed in documents filed by James' husband Artis Mills. He's seeking to control the finances of the 72-year-old singer, who is being treated for leukemia and also suffers from Alzheimer's disease. James has mostly been out of the public eye in recent years. According to the documents, she's currently unable to perform many basic functions, including feeding herself. more on this story

The band's first album since 2009 will feature ten brand new tracks, including the first single "L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N." Lead singer Charlie Fink set to work on the album in January of 2010, holed up in a synagogue in East London. Beginning with a few melodic fragments, a sketch for a 10-minute song that resembled Lou Reed's classic "Street Hassle," and a set of lyrics that were begun on a train from Wales to London, something special eventually came into focus, something markedly different from the songs the band had written before. more on this story
On November 15, 2010 Aimee Mann's longtime drummer and good friend John "Huggy Bear" Sands was struck by a catastrophic heart attack. Still in the hospital, John has a long road of recovery ahead of him. Facing mounting medical bills, his musical community has joined together to raise funds to help defray costs and to do something for the man they have long counted on to the carry the beat for them. Proceeds from the show will go to benefit John Sands, along with a silent auction that will be held that night. Kicking off April 20th at the House of Blues in Boston the tour will visit marquee venues across the US including the Beacon Theatre in NYC, the Fillmore in Denver, the Wiltern in LA and the Moore Theatre in Seattle before ending in Vancouver, BC on May 10th with a show at the Center for the Performing Arts.
"The mix of music and art in OC Can You Play? is a perfect fit for the Great Park," says Larry Agran, Chair of the Orange County Great Park Board Corporation. "Bringing art of all kinds into a public space is a key part of the Great Park vision. Events like these are a stepping stone to the Great Park becoming OC's new home for the arts." The piano used at the Great Park for this event was decorated by Irvine artist and teacher Tom Brown, and features a landscape reminiscent of the El Toro area's agricultural heritage. The Great Park Visitors Center also houses a photography exhibition by The Legacy Group titled Phantoms Phorever: Art + Language at MCAS El Toro. On the way to the Great Park Visitors Center, guests will see the Palm Court and Squadron Complex under construction, which will house artists studios and an art gallery, slated to open in mid-2011. more on this story
