Day in Pop Report for 07/12/2011
Josh Kloss -- who appeared in Perry's "Teenage Dream" video and Kim's Super Bowl commercial for Skechers -- was hanging out at the Hollywood and Highland shopping center last Tuesday night. He says he was outside smoking a cigarette when one of the security guards asked him to put the smoke out. Josh claims he was trying to argue the point and next thing he knew ... he had five security officers on top of him. LAPD was called in and Kloss was booked for misdemeanor battery. He tells TMZ he didn't get physical with the guard ... it was the other way around. Security at the Hollywood and Highland had no comment and the LAPD says they are investigating the arrest.
Sources connected with production tell TMZ, the network is serious this time: if another cast member tries to walk off the show ... that person will be fired, and the remainder of his or her contract will be terminated. No exceptions. We're told it's all a power play. With two cast members nearly jumping ship in the same week, MTV wants to reassert some authority ... and show the cast who's boss once and for all. But it might already be too late.
Violent J from the Insane Clown Posse (the group behind the annual festival) tells TMZ ... ICP feels the TALENT was to blame for last year's violence ... because they incited the crowd while onstage. Mr. J believes the performers lined up for the 2011 festival have "mad respect" for the juggalos ... and won't make the same mistake. In fact, the group is SOOOOOO confident the juggalos will remain peaceful, they've only booked a small group of private security guards to work the event ... and have NOT asked for help from local police. The event is scheduled to go down from August 11-14 in Cave-In-Rock, IL -- and the lineup includes Charlie Sheen, MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice. What are the chances all 3 walk away from the event unscathed?
TMZ spoke with employees and patrons at two places -- Oasis Gentleman's Club and Bucket Bottle Bar & Restaurant. A witness at Oasis (an establishment where young ladies work to put themselves through nursing school) tells TMZ ... Hines was not drinking heavily, did not want to be bothered, and seemed genuinely "disinterested." The witness said Ward was only there from 9-10:00 PM The lovely young lady who answered the phone at Oasis confirmed she saw Ward that night. And another witness says he saw Ward at the Bucket Bottle. A waiter there tells TMZ Hines was at the bar for a few hours, but only had one or two drinks. The employee said Hines was super nice, not drunk at all, and did not appear to have any problems walking or talking. The waiter says Ward left at around 1:30 AM. He was popped for DUI approximately four miles away, an hour later. Ward maintains he was not impaired by alcohol at the time he was arrested.
The document -- filed with the L.A. County Department of Public Health -- lists the main cause of death as cardiorespiratory arrest ... which essentially means his heart stopped beating and he stopped breathing. Pneumonia and Alzheimer's Disease are cited as the underlying causes of his death. The 83-year-old actor died peacefully in his Beverly Hills home on June 23. more on this story
The video of Jasmine and the mystery dude is being released through a website -- and features some x-rated play with those (normally) annoying conversation heart candies. Jasmine claims she had no idea the video was going wide ... telling TMZ, "I'm absolutely shocked that the public is now going to see what I made with my boyfriend on Valentine's Day." The former Hollywood cocktail waitress has been linked to Ryan Seacrest, Chris Pine, Jesse McCartney, and Sean Stewart. Jasmine won't say who the lucky guy is in the vid ... and admits, "I'm not even famous which blows my mind even more, I'm just a girl in Hollywood." Uh-huh. more on this story
Law enforcement sources say the man jumped over the back wall at Halle's home right around 11PM Monday night. This time her private security -- off-duty police officers -- were watching the suspect on a security camera as he entered the grounds. They quickly nabbed the guy and called LAPD officers to the scene -- who arrested and booked him on suspicion of felony stalking. We're told police believe this is the same man Halle spotted in her backyard Saturday and Sunday ... prompting an all out search for the suspect. more on this story
In the documents -- obtained by TMZ -- Mathew Knowles claims Live Nation Entertainment wanted desperately to sink its fangs into Beyonce's 2011 world tour. According to the docs, Mathew claims Live Nation told Beyonce that Mathew "had stolen money from Beyonce on her most recent tour or otherwise taken funds that [he] was not entitled to." Mathew claims Live Nation was effective, because Beyonce had her law firm conduct an audit, and the law firm concluded Mathew had indeed pilfered money from her. Beyonce then fired him. Mathew claims after he was canned, Beyonce hired a manager who had worked as a former exec at Live Nation and maintained a relationship with the company. Mathew insists the theft accusations by Live Nation are false, and he wants the judge to give him the right to take depositions of various people at Live Nation, to determine just how they concluded he was a thief. We could not reach Beyonce's rep for comment. more on this story

As TMZ first reported ... Brooke was photographed last week holding what appeared to be a crack pipe. And there are other problematic images as well -- like the one recently in Hawaii, when Brooke walked up to a parked car in a seedy area with cash in hand. The two rehab veterans each have selfish reasons to avoid drug testing, but Brooke is especially worrisome because she is the primary caregiver of the twins. Although Brooke's parents step in when she goes to rehab -- and she goes a lot -- Brooke ultimately calls the shots. So the question -- who is looking out for the kids. The judge hasn't called a hearing to determine if the parents are unfit, and the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services has not visited either Charlie or Brooke for more than 6 months. more on this story
Every album usually starts with one particular song being written, that then inspires the rest and sets a precedent. Cecilia was one of those songs and when it was finished I had a clearer idea of where I was musically at the time. The song was very inspired by "Sultans of Swing" by Dire Straits. Me and my band had a serious hangup on that song at the time and played it on tour just about every day. We loved the groove and the feel to it and also that it was a great driving song! I don't think I really thought about it, but it must have been in the back of my head when writing Cecilia. Funny how those things work, impossible to really hide your inspirations. The song was recorded in my living room with everyone playing live together. This is very unusual for me, as I normally just build rack like giant puzzles, recording piece by piece until I have so much that I have to start peeling away to get to the core of things. So this was very different for us and there were some compromises to be made, soundwise, in order to be able to catch the feeling we wanted. But it ended very genuine and spur of the moment feeling. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!
