Day in Pop Report for 04/16/2012
In case you missed her recent "Nightline" interview, Nicki went OFF on her dad Omar -- describing the guy as a drug addict and alcoholic who often threatened to kill her mother ... once even burning down their house.
Nicki said, "I wanted to kill [my dad]. I used to wish he was dead ... 'We were afraid for my mother's life because whenever he would have a real bad outburst he would threaten to kill her."
But family sources tell TMZ, Nicki's anecdotes are grossly exaggerated -- Omar admits he had anger issues when she was a child ... but insists it NEVER reached the point Nicki described in her interview.
Sources tell us, Omar never knew Nicki felt this way about him -- and he's absolutely crushed she decided to air her grievances in the media.
We're told her father still loves Nicki very much ... and always has. more on this story

"Record Store Day is such a great event that has hardly had any attention in country music," said Bentley. "Some of the coolest exclusive product comes out on this day at indy retailers, and I wanted country fans to be able to get in on the action. I may have a few surprise special guests up my sleeve too. I'm really excited to take over Easy Street for an hour that afternoon Seattle is such a great music town."
Across the country and globe for one day only, artists including Coldplay, Foster the People, Ryan Adams and The Black Keys will be releasing Record Store Day exclusives, making special appearances or performing at brick and mortar record stores to celebrate the art of music. For a full list of artists participating in the special event, visit www.recordstoreday.com.
The track is the first song off her 2011 sophomore album, Shredded Eagle, Sad Tambourine and can be downloaded here.
"Both musically and lyrically, the song is pretty dark and moody, but also has a lightness to it," comments Kautzman. "My hope was to continue those elements throughout the album as a whole, so I think its a good opening track."
Our sources tell us, Lindsay feels she didn't thumb her nose at Judge Stephanie Sautner, because Coachella is really just a gigantic concert and she was just there for the music.
We're told Lindsay went to a few different events during the weekend and was very conscious lots of people were whispering about her -- specifically, that she was in the danger zone by even showing up. The way she feels ... she's gone to Coachella for the last 4 or 5 years so she didn't think this year was a big deal.
Lindsay insists she didn't have a drop of alcohol during the weekend -- she feels she she can control herself, even in a situation filled with temptation.
Lindsay is currently under investigation for allegedly assaulting a woman at a hotel bar, but Lindsay claims she wasn't even out that night. more on this story
TMZ broke the story ... Marc filed for divorce Monday -- nine months after the couple announced they were splitting.
But sources extremely close to Marc tell us, he didn't make the decision on his own -- he had a heart-to-heart with J.Lo a few weeks back to see if she really, truly wanted to end the marriage.
We're told he said he wanted to give the marriage another try, but Jennifer confessed ... she was deeply in love with Casper ... and wanted to pursue that relationship.
We're told Marc was blindsided ... he had not idea things were so serious -- and he was hurt.
So that's why Marc filed divorce papers last week. more on this story

We're told producers are looking for "accomplished and upscale women in the Calabasas area who have fabulous lives, are very social, are involved in the community, but also have a very deep commitment to their faith."
The community is loaded with stars ... including Travis Barker, Shanna Moakler, Gary Sinise, D.L. Hughley, Kourtney Kardashian, Keyshawn Johnson and Nikki Sixx.
So far, it's unclear if producers have reached out to the stars ... but they probably should. more on this story
Boz used to own the giant Malibu mansion -- featured prominently on Season 1 of the TV show -- and he rented it out to a company called Grasshopper House LLC in 2006, which currently runs the famous Passages rehab center down block. Boz has since sold the house.
But things didn't go so well between Boz and Grasshopper -- which claims the property's septic tank went out between 2008-2009 ... and GH was forced to sink over $50,000 of its own money into fixing the problem.
In addition to its septic tank money, GH is also suing for a huge chunk of rent it claims it wasted while the septic system was busted -- $150,000. GH claims it lost the use of several rooms due to the SNAFU. more on this story
According to the witnesses, Ritter was on a flight from NYC to LA that was experiencing severe turbulence. We're told at one point Ritter -- whose show "Don't Trust The B---- in Apt 23" premiered this week -- got up when the "fasten seatbelt" sign was on ... and she was immediately confronted by a male flight attendant.
Our sources say the flight attendant was "very aggressive" and yelled at her to sit back down. We're told Ritter was so distraught by the confrontation, she was on the verge of a tearfest.
According to our sources, the supervising flight attendant got wind of what went down and spoke with Krysten. We're told that flight attendant apologized and told Krysten she felt the male flight attendant was out of line and that disciplinary action would most likely be taken.
We spoke with Krysten once she landed -- take a look.
Prugo pled no contest last month for his role in the Burgler Bunch crime spree and was expected to serve 2 years behind bars. He was out on bond until his next court date in May.
According to our sources, Prugo's bond was put up by his parents, who used their house as collateral. We're told Prugo's dad -- after some sort of argument took place between them -- called VIP Bail Bonds Sunday morning and told them he wanted the bond revoked.
So Prugo was booked and will remain behind bars until May ... unless someone else ponies up his $200,000 bond. Don't hold your breath. more on this story
The restaurant's called Datt's It -- and we're told Cherie opened it last month in a developmentally-challenged section of Houston, hoping to bring the struggling neighborhood some business ... and bring it back to life.
The menu includes all kinds of American classics -- burgers, fries, hot dogs, wings -- and the ONLY thing on the menu over $5 is the waffle with eggs and bacon (that's $6.50).
Last time we heard anything about Cherie Johnson was over a year ago -- when she had just gotten engaged to Ricky Romance, brother of B2K singer Raz-B. Time flies. more on this story
As TMZ first reported, Octo had her car window smashed in with a handwritten note that said, "Leave California or you will die!" The threats started after TMZ reported Octo began receiving $2,000 a month from the State of California, which could only be used for food.
Sources close to Octo tell TMZ that numerous security companies have stepped up to offer her free protection. We're told they have offered 24/7 security guards, multiple people for the kids -- all for free until she moved to a new home, the location of which will be secret for as long as possible.
According to our sources, the companies told Octomom they were making the offer because they felt people had gone too far with their threatening behavior. more on this story
