A day after Steven Tyler announced his departure from the reality show to return full-time to Aerosmith, J. Lo went public with her exit plans on Friday when she called in to Idol host Ryan Seacrest's radio show. Sources involved in the investigation tell TMZ ... the CHP has recommended to the L.A. City Attorney that the photog be charged with the law that prohibits paparazzi from endangering people while trying to shoot photos or video. We're told the CHP is also recommending a second charge -- reckless driving. As we first reported, the L.A. City Attorney is reviewing the CHP's file and will decide what -- if anything -- to file. If the photog is charged and convicted under the new law, he could go to the pokey for 1 year. more on this story
Wells broke all the rules in 1952 when her hit song, "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels" saw her become the first female country singer to have a U.S. #1. The Tennessean reported that country singer Lee Ann Womack said: "She paved the way for generations after her and really made a mark for women in country. It's a tough business for women. She proved that she could sell records and tickets and have hits in a time when that hadn't been proven yet by female acts." more on this story
We've learned famed P.I. Scott Ross -- who was the led investigator in the Michael Jackson molestation case and the Chris Brown/Rihanna battery case -- met Tuesday at Stallone's home with Sly, his brother Frank, and an official from the L.A. County Coroner's Office. Sources tell us they discussed Sage Stallone's death and the status of the investigation. We're told Sly wants Ross to figure out what happened to his son -- and he's not ruling out foul play, even though he has no evidence of that. Sly also wants to know about Sage's final weeks ... whether he was using drugs or consuming alcohol. The actor also wants to know what, if anything, was troubling his son. Ross has a long history working for the Stallone family ... we're told Sly wants someone he knows and trusts to provide him with answers about his son's death. more on this story

This pic (above) shows Tom carrying Suri into The Greenwich Hotel. Sources tell TMZ ... Tom will have no contact with Katie. Suri will be picked up and taken back with the help of intermediaries. The picture shows Tom's sister, Cass, bearing gifts as she enters the hotel. We're told Tom is "sad but not bitter" about the way things have gone down. Nevertheless, it looks like there is radio silence between Tom and Katie. See the photo here.

It all went down at a karaoke joint on Catalina Island called El Galleon ... Katy went up on stage under the name "Katherine" (smooth), along with another female friend of hers, to get jiggy with Smith's 1998 tune. The footage is pretty great ... the pop superstar gets most of the words right and even manages to put her own twist on it by saying things in a really high voice -- which was interesting. It's unclear if Katy was inebriated or not -- it did take place in a bar -- but at the end of the rap she does shout out "I looove my best friend" in a VERY happy way. Watch it here.

According to the police report, Dumervil had been driving a Land Rover on Saturday ... and following his friend who was driving a Mercedes ... when a woman in an Impala merged between the two cars ... upsetting both Dumervil and his friend. The men allegedly got out of their cars ... approached the Impala and threatened the female driver while flashing their guns. Dumervil -- a two-time Pro Bowl linebacker -- told police he didn't have a firearm ... but cops say they recovered a weapon in the glove compartment of the Land Rover. 28-year-old Dumervil was ultimately booked on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The impromptu circus act went down outside of a bar in Austin, Texas last Thursday ... Mel showed off (for a pretty lady of course) his awesome juggling skills ... and we gotta admit, he's not too shabby. Mel lays down two separate acts for the ladies, first he juggles 3 oranges ... then he gets serious and switches it up by only using one hand (but has fewer oranges). Watch the video here.
