Day in Pop Report for 11/30/2012
Lindsay Lohan may not win an Emmy, but she will have a distinction few celebs have achieved -- she'll face a total of 4 new criminal charges on the same day on different coasts. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... the Santa Monica City Attorney will charge Lindsay TODAY with 3 CRIMES in connection with her car accident last June on Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica. After ramming her Porsche into a big rig, she lied to cops, telling them she was the passenger in the car when in fact she was the driver. Lindsay will be charged with: -- giving false information to a peace officer ... punishable by up to 6 months in jail. -- obstructing or resisting a police officer in the performance of his duty ... punishable by 1 year in jail. -- reckless driving ... punishable by 90 days in jail. As we first reported, when Lindsay is arraigned in L.A. -- probably next week -- the judge will revoke her probation in the jewelry heist case and set a hearing to determine if she will go to jail for a long period of time. One of the conditions of probation is that Lindsay must obey all laws. Her arrest Thursday morning in NYC for assault (crime #4) could end up triggering a second reason to revoke her probation. more on this story
As Lady Gaga touched down, she was quickly whisked away by security. Fans where vocal about their displeasure to a local news outlet. But Gaga would not disappoint her loyal and faithful fans. Against the wishes of security, the pop star insisted on stopping and signing autographs. Gaga posted her gratefulness to her fans on Twitter later that night. Read more and watch the video report.
The special will be airing live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles 16 at 9PM/8c on VH1. The Christmas Celebration Symphony Tour, with tour ensemble Chlo� Agnew, Lisa Lambe, Susan McFadden, and Celtic Violinist M�ir�ad Nesbitt, begins on December 1st in Foxwoods, CT and will conclude in Huntsville, AL on December 22nd. Founded in 1999, Musicians On Call affords musicians like Brantley the opportunity to bring music to patients' bedside. To date, these volunteers have played for over 350,000 people in healthcare facilities nationwide. The Nashville division alone has visited nearly 60,000 patients in Middle Tennessee and recently celebrated its fifth Anniversary. After Brantley spent time entertaining and talking to these hero's who served our country, and defended our freedom, the southern rocker tells us: "I have never experienced anything quite like playing for these veterans. These men and women have sacrificed their lives for our freedom � my freedom to be able to play my music. I have so much respect for them. Seated side by side with her two guitarists, Taylor joins her band on acoustic guitar where she shows off her vocals. Alternating between whispered singing with a slight echo it's easy to hear the heart and passion of the song within Taylor's approach. Watch it here.
Dorothy duets with her son on the song "Time For Me To Come Home," which they actually wrote together. And luckily, Blake told CBS Local in a recent interview, he didn't have to twist her arm too hard to sing on the album with him. "She was really excited that we were writing a song together," Blake explains, "because she's always coming up with song ideas." Blake says the song is more or less "about the relationship between a kid and his mom." And once it was written, he says, "I told her, 'Mom, it'd be really cool if you sang on it with me.'" According to the police report, after interviewing Gabriel, Olivier Martinez and Halle, Officer Timothy Chung concluded, "Suspect [Gabriel] arrived at victim's [Olivier] residence for child custody exchange. Suspect and victim engaged in verbal altercation. Suspect became upset and attempted to punch victim's head but missed and struck victim's right shoulder instead. Victim returned with 3 punches to the suspect's head, causing him to fall to the ground. Victim's fiance [Halle] notified police." It's interesting ... Olivier and Gabriel each claimed they said nothing to incite the other, but the report concludes both were smack talking. According to the conclusions in the police report, Olivier acted in self defense: "Victim defended himself and punched the suspect." And law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... Gabriel never told police about the alleged death threats made by Olivier both the day before and during the fight ... threats he later claimed were made by Halle's fiance. What's more, cops contacted Gabriel after the fight and asked if he had more info, and he passed. There was no mention of death threats. Nonetheless ... in the end law enforcement believes it's a case of mutual combat and it's almost certain Gabriel will not be prosecuted. more on this story
According to the police report, obtained by TMZ, Deputy Joe Rozier says he was driving along Highway 20 around 11 PM ... when he noticed someone carrying out a very stupid, and dangerous, prank: "I observed a white male dressed in a gorilla suit acting as if he was going to jump into my lane of travel. I swerved into the left lane to avoid an accident with the person." Rozier claims he immediately stopped the car, whipped out his flashlight and went searching for answers ... and "observed several white males run up the embankment and into the woods." Rozier says he shouted at the group that he was going to release his K-9 on the perps ... when someone yelled back, "You don't have to do that, we're coming back." The officer says he eventually made contact with 5 adults and 2 kids ... but NONE of them had a gorilla suit. Eventually, Dep. Rozier says they 'fessed up to stashing the suit in the woods.' After recovering the suit, Dep. Rozier says he arrested all of the adults for reckless conduct -- and booked them all into the local jail. The gorilla suit was taken into evidence. more on this story
The troubled 53-year-old wound up behind bars several times in the past year after multiple booze-related arrests (naked DWI, public intoxication, assault). Now, Randy's lawyer, Larry Friedman, tells TMZ � Travis has acknowledged the problem ... and decided to remove liquor from his life so he could focus on improving his health. "[Randy] works out 3 hours every day and is in the best shape of his life," Friedman says � adding, "He has a high protein diet and takes a lot of vitamins." Besides his new workout obsession, Friedman says Randy was in a recording studio in Texas last week to start laying down some new tracks. more on this story
Minaj joined the show for the upcoming season, along with new judges Mariah Carey and Keith Urban and returning member Randy Jackson. "No one's ever going to touch American Idol. I mean, they'll never come close," says Nicki. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... Nick was taken into custody in Alpharetta, Georgia Wednesday night ... after cops say he was going 82 in a 35 on Northpoint Parkway .. a retail area with high pedestrian foot traffic. One law enforcement source tells us, "We are fortunate because that's such a busy corridor with high end retail shopping retaurants and pedestrains at crosswalks." The source adds, "At that speed, it's absolutely reckless." We broke the story ... BK wrecked a Camaro in Alpharetta yesterday after losing control and careening down an embankment ... striking several trees along the way. Miraculously, she emerged from the accident unscathed ... but cops issued her a citation for failing to stay in her lane. See a photo here.
The Koreatown restaurant was previously known as Soju Town -- but it re-opened last month after a brief closure under its new name "Gangnam Style," clearly an homage to the popular song. The restaurant never bothered to get Psy's permission to use the name -- but sources close to the singer tell TMZ, he doesn't care ... because where he comes from, imitation is a form of honor. We're told Psy's team briefly considered legal action when they caught wind of the new restaurant, but since Psy doesn't care ... they don't plan to pursue anything. more on this story
Bynum -- a former member of the L.A. Lakers -- claims that ever since he moved into his fancy home in Westchester, CA more than 7 years ago, he's been constantly harassed by his neighbors, Ramond and Cindy Beckett. According to his lawsuit, filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Bynum says ... the Becketts have objected to his "profession, his race, his friends, his cars and his taste in music." Bynum claims the Becketts have behaved like petulant children -- throwing coins at his Ferrari (which chipped the paint), screaming at him about his music, and even banging the side of his house with "a long stick." But the Becketts quickly responded to the lawsuit with a countersuiit of their own -- TRASHING Bynum as the neighbor from hell who only sued them to preemptively strike against the lawsuit they had been planning. In their legal docs, the Becketts UNLOAD on the NBA star -- claiming he's guilty of the following misdeeds: -- brandishing FIREARMS in an attempt to intimidate the Becketts Bynum has denied the allegations ... and according to docs filed by Andrew, the Becketts have sold their house since the lawsuit was filed ... so they're no longer neighbors. more on this story
McGregor was out at the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood Tuesday night when we asked if he was down with the new movies -- and Ewan said Ew-betcha. As we reported, Lucasfilms was bought out by Disney for $4 BILLION -- and the studio is already planning several more SW movies. Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) and Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian) have also said they want in on the new flicks. more on this story
They have two minor sons -- aged 7 and 4 -- and Mayim wants joint legal and physical custody. Mayim and Michael were married in 2003. The divorce docs were filed on November 21st -- the same day Mayim announced the couple's split -- but they were just released by the courts today. In her announcement, Mayim -- who famously allows her kids to sleep in the same bed with her -- wrote, "The hands-on style of parenting we practice played no role in the changes that led to this decision." She added, "Relationships are complicated no matter what style of parenting you choose." more on this story
According to the police report, obtained by TMZ, 46-year-old Ashenafi was arrested at DFW airport when police determined she was so drunk ... she was a danger to herself and others. Sources on board the airplane tell us, Ashenafi threw a fit while everyone was boarding because she was stuck in coach ... instead of first class. We're told she was also angry her carry-on luggage had been relegated to the back of the plane due to limited overhead space. According to the police report, Ashenafi allegedly even pushed a flight attendant during her temper tantrum. The airplane's crew kicked Ashenafi off the aircraft and police met her on the jetway. According to the report, they immediately noticed the smell of alcohol on Ashenafi's breath. Officers then escorted her off the jetway and placed her under arrest for public intoxication. more on this story
