Mick Jagger Co-Producing James Brown Movie
(Gibson) A film based on the life of soul legend James Brown is in the works, with Mick Jagger on board as co-producer.

Jagger's production partner on the project, Brian Grazer, recently told Rolling Stone he's had the rights to the project for 12 years.

Grazer's previous production credits include Apollo 13 and A Beautiful Mind. "I like to make movies about mastery and genius," he said, "and it's hard to find great subjects. James Brown is a visually dynamic subject."

Grazer went on to say no decision has been made regarding who will play Brown. "We're going to have to test lots of actors and be determined to pick the right one," he explained.

The producer also expressed admiration and gratitude towards Jagger. "Mick is so amazing," he said. "For him to decide he's going to participate and split half the money he's a man of integrity, and I feel pretty good about that." more on this story

Steve Martin and Edie Brickell Releasing Album This Spring
Rounder Records have set an April 23rd release date for Steve Martin and Edie Brickell's new collaborative album "Love Has Come For You".

"I think that the goal of any collaboration should be to come up with something that each individual wouldn't have come up with on their own, and I think that we've done that here," says Martin.

The album was produced by Peter Asher (James Taylor, Elvis Costello, Linda Ronstadt) and features bassist Esperanza Spalding, guitarist Waddy Wachtel, Nickel Creek alumni Sara and Sean Watkins and bluegrass combo the Steep Canyon Rangers.

"I fell in love with the banjo tunes because at first listen they evoked images and stories that were true to me," said Brickell.

"The banjo can be so evocative when it's used sparingly, and that was in the back of my mind as we were writing," says Martin. "It's the way I've longed to play and hear the banjo, rather than it being present at every moment. In these songs, the point is to tell the story and get out." more on this story

"All I could say when I saw the plans for a UK/EU tour was 'It's about time," says frontman Adam Duritz of the five date tour "It's hard to explain to fans why bands occasionally let so much time pass between visits. The truth is sometimes life just gets in the way and, before you know it, it's been a few years. Personally, I'm just glad we're going back. I have a lot of great memories of past tours. Remembering where we've been always gets me excited about where we're going."

Madeleine Peyroux Reexamines Ray Charles In The Blue Room
Madeleine Peyroux has set a March 5th release date for her new studio album, The Blue Room.

The album features Madeleine Peyroux and her longtime collaborator Larry Klein (Joni Mitchell, Herbie Hancock) give their interpretations of Ray Charles' Modern Sounds In Country And Western Music.

"Ray's 'cultural landmark' album has always been a part of me," says Klein. "Madeleine naturally came to mind with this project. Much like Charles who in 1962 jelled R & B, Gospel, Country and Jazz, Madeleine is at a nexus of styles. She comes from the same places, blending Jazz, Blues, Country and Pop."

The duos' concept was in no way intended to replicate the instrumentation, arrangements, style or sequence of the original album. Instead, Madeleine and Larry represented the artistic freedom Ray exhibited, using imagination to break down musical categories and barriers.

"I didn't want to just do a straight forward covers album," says Madeleine. "When Larry first brought this project to me, I was so moved by what I heard that it truly inspired me to both reinterpret these songs while also merging them with others that I thought fit perfectly." more on this story
