Jennifer Lawrence Scores Hit With 'Hunger Games' Song
(Radio.com) Actress Jennifer Lawrence may not like her singing voice (as she memorably declared on a recent episode of Late Show With David Letterman), but nevertheless, it seems she's about to have a hit single anyway.

According to Billboard, the Oscar-winning actress' "The Hanging Tree," from her film The Hunger Games: Mockingjay--Part I, will likely hit the Top 40 of the Hot 100 this week.

The song, performed by film composer James Newton Howard featuring Lawrence on vocals, may sell upwards of 150,000 downloads in the U.S. in the week ending Nov. 30.

The film dominated the box office over Thanksgiving weekend, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Watch Lawrence's interview with David Letterman, in which they duet with a rather rough version of "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas" here.

U2 Plan Release Of Rare 1980 Club Show
(Radio.com) If you've listened to the lyrics of U2's latest album, Songs of Innocence, you know that lyricists Bono and The Edge have had their younger years on their mind: "Cedarwood Road" is about the street that Bono grew up on, "California (There Is No End To Love)" looks back on the band's first trip to the Sunshine State and "The Miracle (of Joey Ramone)" recalls the effect that punk rock had on the band.

And while the Warped Tour set may not think of U2 as a punk rock band, they did start out as part of the post-punk scene of the late '70s and early '80s. That era will get the spotlight in an upcoming fan-club-only release of a concert recorded in 1980, the year that they released their debut LP Boy.

You have to join the band's fan club to be able to get a copy of the live album, which will be released as two 10-inch vinyl records, in tribute to the band's format of choice in their early days. Read more here.

Richie Hawtin Sorry For Pushing Speaker Onto Concert-Filming Fan
(Radio.com) Richie Hawtin has apologized after pushing a speaker onto a phone-wielding fan who was recording a recent concert of his. According to Hawtin, it was not his intent to push the object onto the fan; rather, he intended to nudge it as a reminder that he did not want the set recorded.

"Regarding the incident at Time Warp in New York this weekend which is being posted and talked about on the web, I would like to apologise here to the girl involved," Hawtin noted in a statement on his Facebook page. "It was not my intention that the speaker fell. Only to nudge the monitors in her direction and for her to understand that perhaps she had filmed enough. I was as surprised as I'm sure she was when it moved the way it did and the top speaker fell off of the stack. For that, I'm extremely sorry and embarrassed about what happened. This was never my intention.

"Sometimes being in the middle of the spotlight, continual cameras and glaring iPhone lights, things can get stressful and frustrating. I'm sorry that this frustration took an unexpected turn and took away from anyone's experience of Time Warp. I have tried to reach the girl to apologise personally but have not yet been able to track her down and will continue to try to contact her."

Skrillex Denies Paying $5 Million For New Wu-Tang Clan Album
(Radio.com) Back in August of this year, it was reported that Wu-Tang Clan had created an album, Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, that only existed in the form of a single copy.

Then, over the weekend, an interesting development in this story occurred: it was reported that EDM superstar Skrillex had purchased the album for $5 million dollars.

The origins of this report actually came from a fan forum, where Wu-Tang producer Cilvaringz replied to this claim with a one-word "yup" reply. (via Hot New Hip-Hop)

Turns out, this story isn't as true as we'd like to believe, as Skrillex has cleared up the reports, saying that RZA only loaned him the album, and that no money exchanged hands. Read more here.

Naughty By Nature's 'Hip Hop Hooray' Muppets Parody Goes Online
(Radio.com) There's nothing like a video compilation of classic Muppet antics to reveal the goofiness inherent in hip-hop's soul. See for yourself in this video by Youtube user Mylo The Cat, which sets Kermit, Beaker and the rest up against Naughty By Nature's legendary old-school hit 'Hip-Hop Hooray."

Released the 1993, the song spent a week on the top of the charts and received a music video from Spike Lee himself. There's something deeply fitting about a gang of fuzzy creatures jamming along to the high-caliber rhymes and iconic 'hey'ho'hey'ho!" chorus.

Kermit plays the lead role, but several other characters make guest appearances: Fozzie The Bear, in particular, seems to be feeling the groove. Watch it here.

Fan Makes 2-Hour Video Of Kanye West's Yeezus Tour
(Radio.com) Throughout his rise, Kanye West has become one of the most divisive pop culture figures--but that's just made his fans, so-called Yeezy apologists, all the more dedicated.

Case in point: one Kanye fan took the time to immaculately put together a film for the Yeezus Tour. Consisting of crowd-shot footage, along with a collage of news and paparazzi segments that open the film, the project took a whopping seven months for John Colandra to pull together.

He edited all of his footage down to two hours--an especially impressive feat considering how just West's monologues could have been made into a two-plus-hour film. Of course, many of them made it into the film, which is a near-chronological reconstruction of footage from Kanye's tour behind Yeezus.

As the description states, the film "[compiles] footage from almost every stop on the Yeezus tour to make one cohesive film. Using professional and gorilla style footage. Read more and watch here.

ASAP Rocky Recalls Cried At First Concert
(Radio.com) ASAP Rocky is one of the great success stories of the Internet age, bursting onto the scene in a blaze of glory with tracks like 'Purple Swag" and 'Pesos" coming seemingly out of nowhere and racking up millions of views before he'd played a single show.

Two years later, he's one of the world's most successful rappers, and the new face of the legendary fashion line Ferragamo. The brand has produced a documentary called A Man's Story about his adventure so far--and in it, he reflects on his first performance, the moment when he felt like he'd finally made it.

'They wanted me to come by and do three songs," he explained in the clip. 'And when I say it was a line around the corner, people couldn't even get in and I just kept thinking to myself--wait, all of these people are here for me? This can't be real. It's my first time, it's my first show."

Rocky then described his tearful reaction afterward. "It turned out crazy," he said. "People were dressed how they saw me dressed in the videos. And when I got in the car on the way home, and I cried--because I was happy. That's when I felt that I made it." Watch video here.

Ghostface Killah Streaming New Album '36 Seasons'
(Radio.com) Ghostface Killah's 36 Seasons, a masterful opus telling the story of a character's rise and fall, is finally here. Almost. The rapper's new album is now available to stream via NPR ahead of its release next week.

The Wu-Tang member has recruited some of the only living rappers who could claim to be his lyrical peers--AZ, Pharaohe Monche and Kool G Rap--to play colorful characters in the narrative.

The story is timeless, like an old radio drama. When Ghostface leaves his childhood neighborhood his girlfriend begins seeing a rival, 'played" by Kool G Rap. Ghostface comes back, fights his enemy and is wounded and then saved by a doctor, Pharaohe Monche. He fights with his old friend AZ, and eventually wins back his girl, played by R&B singer Kandace Springs.

Lana Del Rey Teases New Song 'Big Eyes'
(Radio.com) As we discovered with her contributions to The Great Gatsby and Maleficent, Lana Del Rey's music makes use of her classic Hollywood associations and meshes pretty well with a cinematic counterpart.

On the very day that she announced a massive 2015 U.S. tour, LDR has also premiered a portion of her next leap into the soundtracking game, with the title track for the new Tim Burton film Big Eyes.

The song's opening minute or so gets a lyric video, revealing the song's high as can be sung verse, well Del Rey asks "Is it me, was I wrong to have trusted you," possibly giving some insight into the film, as the chorus equates "big eyes" with "big lies."

Kenny Chesney Releases 'Christmas in Blue Chair Bay' Video
(Radio.com) An ideal Christmas for Kenny Chesney is spent by the water. The video for his new holiday single "Christmas in Blue Chair Bay" represents just this. Surrounded by turquoise water, plenty of sand and picturesque sunsets, Chesney brings the holiday spirit to the islands. Here, stockings are hung on the palm trees with care while mistletoe decorates every boat and a Christmas tree can be found on the beach.

'Everybody raise a glass with me right now/ To all of those up in the snow," he sings. "From all of us down South/ 'Tis the season for believing and faith and family."

Meanwhile, Chesney is shown sitting on the edge of boat with a Santa hat on and later, strumming his guitar on the beach dressed in appropriately red Santa pants. The sound of the water is heard at the track's start while the remainder of the acoustic track features Chesney strumming his guitar solo.

'My family really loves Christmas-and I was in the mood, especially with the time I've been spending in Barbados with my rum, to try and distill how slow and sweet the holidays in the islands are when we can get there," Chesney told Home Sweet Country. 'It seems like there are few times of the year when you can really unplug, really just be in the moment with your family and your friends-and celebrate how great life is.

Singled Out: Rachael Sage's Wax
Today indie pop/singer songwriter Rachael Sage tells us about her new single and video "Wax," which comes from her just released 11th Studio album, "Blue Roses." Here is the story:

About six months ago, I was scheduled via a friend in Los Angeles to perform at an art gallery for a charity benefit. I'm always eager to perform for a positive cause, and I entered what was a new venue for me with an open mind and virtually no expectations. What I encountered at MorYork gallery was a visual labyrinth of artwork the likes of which I'd never seen, and which immediately overwhelmed my senses in the best possible way.

Firstly, the loft-space, curated by veteran sculptor Clare Graham, was enormous and filled floor to ceiling with Graham's own creations from recycled materials - including everything from puzzle-pieces to tin cans to swizzle sticks and (yes) teddy bears. My eyes were enchanted by the level of detail in each individual piece, seemingly painstakingly put together and co-mingling with all manner of 'objets d'art' such as glass eyes, skulls, rosary beads and metallic gazing balls. Upon meeting the artist and his equally meticulous, gracious partner Bob, I was struck by his quiet, unassuming nature and the generosity with which he willingly opened his gallery to the community, apparently opening MorYork's doors to everyone from local musicians to dance, theater and fellow visual artists. I tried to imagine if any place like this might exist in NYC, but if so I certainly haven't encountered it.

Mostly, I felt an immediate sense of belonging. I have always had a penchant not only for creating visual art, collecting and surrounding myself with unusual and beautiful art objects, but specifically, I've always been drawn to the activity of decoupage - which in effect, is a form of revitalizing a blank or otherwise covered surface with cut-outs from paper magazines, books or any other form of collage-materials, and sealing them with glue or shellac. I've employed this technique to personalize keyboards, guitars, tables, chairs and everything in between for many years, and everything about Clare's self-created lexicon of visual artifacts and sculptures reminded me of my own ongoing creative process. It even reminded me of how I write music, and lyrics as well. I've always fancied myself as somewhat of a collage artist even while composing at the piano or producing in the studio. I hear other people's stories, or have an idea from my own imagination that feels resonant with a particular place and time - or even a film, play or novel - and often weave these disparate elements together, into something that hopefully feels entirely new. This process is part of what also makes me feel so integrated into the tradition of songwriting and of being part of the indie community in general, and I always recognize and feel grateful for this ability to channel my own emotions into such a transformational process.

For all these reasons and more, I chose MorYork Gallery and Clare Graham's art as the backdrop for my new video "Wax"...and I hope people who see it are inspired to channel the creative energy that went into making it into their own unique expression, recycled or otherwise!

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself as you watch the video here and learn more about the album right here!
