Former Cake Drummer Gets Jail for Child Molestation
(Radio.com) Pete McNeal, who drummed for the rock band Cake from 2001 to 2004, has been sentenced to 15 years to life in California state prison for child molestation, according to the LA Times.

The Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge, Fred Wapner, who ruled on Tuesday, also ordered the 48-year-old to register as a sex offender for life. News of McNeal's trial first surfaced last year in March when jurors found him guilty of one count of oral copulation of a child 10 years old or younger, after an earlier trial that resulted in a hung jury.

The incident occurred during a Thanksgiving party McNeal attended, where he allegedly molested a 3-year-old girl. And it wasn't McNeal's first molestation charge. Read more here.

U2's Bono 'Basically Can't Move' After Bike Accident Says Bandmate
(Radio.com) As U2 announces a sizable North American tour for 2015, guitarist The Edge is confirming that Bono, who recently injured himself in a bicycle accident and has been out of commission since, is going to be just fine by then--even though he may have to miss some appearances in the process, including KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas later this month.

The rocker called in to CBS Radio station KROQ's Kevin & Bean Show Wednesday morning (Dec. 3) to discuss the incident, as well as the tour. 'He managed to come out of it with what you could only describe as injuries from a car crash, literally, multiple fractures of bones in his elbow and in his back," The Edge said. "But he's doing OK."

Don't worry--though his injuries, which included multiple fractures (chiefly a facial fracture affecting the orbit of his eye and a humerus bone fracture in his left arm that tore through the skin), may have been severe, at least he was wearing a helmet.

'We're kind of lucky he was wearing a helmet so he didn't actually break Central Park," the guitarist said. "But he's made of tough stuff and he's bouncing back. He's so upset about the fact that, unfortunately we're about to announce, we're not going to be able to do the Acoustic Christmas because he's been told by his doctors that he's got to stay put. He's back in Dublin right now and basically he can't move for the next couple of months."

He's referring to KROQ's annual Almost Acoustic Christmas show, at which U2 was scheduled to headline. 'It was a Sunday, a lot of people in the park and he just wasn't paying enough attention," he continued, referencing the accident. "He was going fast down a bit of a hill and somebody came out onto the cycle way, he swerved to avoid them and just went straight over the bars." Read more here.

Partynextdoor Accused Of Production Plagiarism, Releases New Tracks
(Radio.com) OVO crooner PARTYNEXTDOOR has pulled a Beyonce (or, perhaps, a Drake) and unleashed four new songs on an unsuspecting world Tuesday night.

The EP, his first release since his summer album PARTYNEXTDOOR TWO, contains four new tracks, including 'Let's Get Married," 'Girl From Oakland," 'Juss Know" with Travi$ Scott, and 'Still Got It," featuring the Detroit-based Ca$h Out.

The release has not come without a measure of controversy--an underground producer by the name of Mister Lies accused the Canadian crooner on Twitter of lifting production without credit.

Listen to all four of PND's tracks, and compare his "Girl From Oakland" to Mister Lies' "I Walk"; see if you think the producer has a point here.

James Blunt Reacts To Twitter Madness
(Radio.com) British singer/songwriter James Blunt became a huge star in America on the strength of his 2005 number 1 hit, "You're Beautiful." And as nice as that song is, it turns out he's considerably less nice on Twitter.

Blunt has been on the receiving end of scathing criticism and straight up snark for nearly a decade. But when he first joined Twitter, at the urging of his record label, he got a crash course in just how much people hated him. So the former soldier returned fire.

"My record label wanted me to be on it to market myself and my album," he told British publication Radio Times. "Then I went on there I saw how people could be quite abusive, not just to me but to everyone online, and I was amazed that I even considered taking it seriously.

"What happens on Twitter makes the news, you see articles about what people say on Twitter and that is a madness. And [that is] someone's opinion voiced in their bedroom, feeling confident in their bedroom, probably with their trousers round their ankles while they write five nasty words to someone and yet we give that person the time of day."

And so Blunt has happily responded to some of his nastiest critics in kind. See a few of his funniest retorts here.

Fifth Harmony Release 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' Video
(Radio.com) The I'll Be Home for Christmas compilation EP is available for download for your tree decorating and present wrapping needs, and now one of its standout tracks has a music video to go with it.

The song is "All I Want for Christmas Is You," performed by all-female pop group Fifth Harmony. The song, of course, is better known as the Mariah Carey Christmas anthem or the song from movie Love, Actually. The video is simple enough, with the girl singing their merry hearts out, and ending by holding blocks spelling out the song's lyrics. Check out the clip above.

The Epic Records-released EP also features Christmas tracks from Meghan Trainor, Fiona Apple, and A Great Big World, among others. Fifth Harmony gets a staring role in the collection, though, with two songs on the EP. The other track is "Noche De Paz." Watch the video here.

Lady Antebellum and Chris Stapleton Tribute Luke Bryan
(Radio.com) Due to the death this past weekend of his brother-in-law Ben Lee Cheshire, Luke Bryan was not able to attend in person when he was honored Tuesday night (Dec. 2) at the CMT Artists of the Year ceremony in Nashville.

Bryan's presence, though, was felt throughout the evening. And in one of the show's highlights, the superstar singer was additionally honored with Lady Antebellum performed a moving version of Bryan's recent No. 1 hit "Drink a Beer."

The three Lady A bandmates were joined for the song by Chris Stapleton, a powerful vocalist himself ("one of the best singers in the entire universe," Charles Kelley said when introducing him) who cowrote "Drink a Beer" and sang on Bryan's hit version of the song.

Kelley sang the first verse, then Hillary Scott joined in. Stapleton's dusty voice blended beautifully with Scott's, too, and the combination turning an already powerful song about the loss of a good friend into something deeply personal that Bryan, his family and his fans won't soon forget. Watch it here.

Ariana Grande Almost Hit in the Face at Victoria's Secret Fashion Show
(Radio.com) Ariana Grande has one more problem. When she performed at this year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show--which airs Dec. 9 on CBS--she was caught by camera mid-shade face, ducking from one of the models, in what will surely be one of her most memorable photos of the year.

But the issue wasn't the model--it was her cumbersome pink feathered wings. Grande took to Twitter to clear up the confusion, explaining, contrary to how the photo looks:

"a Victoria's Secret angel accidentally smacked me in the face with her wings and it was awesome #goals #bangbangintomyface" and "was so nervous / excited at dress rehearsal i almost walked face first into an Angel's wings and died"

Her photo mishap might soon be forgotten though because now it seem like another musician had a potentially more controversial Victoria's Secret experience: Taylor Swift. Read about that and see the photo of the near miss here.

Fantasy Football Loser Recreates Sia's 'Chandelier' Video
(Radio.com) If you've seen TV show The League, you know that finishing last place in a fantasy football league can be pretty humiliating, and can result in being forced to complete some sort of painful task or other form of mortification and embarrassment.

Well, guess what? This doesn't just happen on TV. It happens in real life, too. Complex points to a video from a man that finished last in his FF league and was forced to recreate Sia's "Chandelier" video, and put the resulting clip on YouTube.

DJ Earworm Releases United State of Pop 2014
(Radio.com) If you're struggling to remember what exactly happened in pop music this year, as 2014 winds down to a close, DJ Earworm has got you covered. The producer has been putting together a musical CliffsNotes of sorts, which he calls "United State of Pop," since 2007, consisting of 25 of the biggest pop songs of the year mashed up.

The series is also an excellent way to see what sonic trends emerged over the year. This year's installment might sound a little more dislocated than the previous ones, which could hold up as dance singles on their own, and that's because EDM wasn't as dominant on the charts.

'The thing that has been most notable in the past two or three years is the decline of EDM," he told Billboard. 'The 'United State of Pop' became this dance track from '09 to '12, and then starting last year, there just wasn't enough in that genre to fully support it, so I went down-tempo. And this year, 'Timber,' which was popular in January, is the only popular dance track I'm dealing with. It's definitely down-tempo, so you have to decide, how is this going to go? How am I going to maintain the energy levels while being true to the sound of the year?"

Instead, Earworm's 2014 mix is, in his words, 'dominated by these slow, ponderous songs like 'Say Something' and 'All Of Me,' and then swaggering hip-hop songs like 'Turn Down For What,' 'Talk Dirty,' and 'Black Widow.' Then you have totally uptempo songs like 'Happy' and 'Shake It Off,' too. It's a little bit more diverse, and definitely softer than it's been."

This year's mashup includes songs from Taylor Swift, John Legend, Meghan Trainor and many more. Listen here.

Jared Leto and Will Smith Lead Suicide Squad Cast
(Radio.com) On Tuesday night, DC Entertainment released information on their upcoming Suicide Squad film--and if the Justice League (the ensemble team including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and other icon characters) is DC's version of Marvel's Avengers, Suicide Squad will be more akin to Guardians of the Galaxy; in DC lore, the Suicide Squad is a group of incarcerated super-villains who have been commissioned by the U.S. Government to go on high-risk missions; they are essentially high-powered, but expendable assets.

And while it remains to be seen if the film Suicide Squad will have a chart-topping soundtrack as Guardians of the Galaxy did, the film does have some prestigious names from the world of music.

Here's a rundown. Jared Leto - In recent years, Leto has spent more time with his band 30 Seconds to Mars than on film sets. That may have changed in the wake of his Oscar win for his role as the transgender, drug-addicted character Rayon in last year's Dallas Buyers Club. That Academy Award may bolster his confidence for his role as one as perhaps the most recognizable supervillain of all time: the Joker, a role which has been played over the years by, notably, Jack Nicholson (1989's Batman), Heath Ledger (2008's The Dark Knight, for which he won an Academy Award) and Cesar Romero (the '60s TV series).

Will Smith - The former Fresh Prince spent the early part of his film career playing good-guy roles (Bad Boys, Men in Black, Independence Day), but this time around he's playing Deadshot, an assassin with a disturbingly good success record (he never misses his shots, hence the name). Like Marvel's Spider-Man, Deadshot's entire face is covered by his mask, so don't be surprised to see some adjustments to his comic book costume so that we can see less mask and more Will.
