Steve Aoki Sued for Breaking Fan's Neck With Stage Prop
(Radio.com) Steve Aoki didn't invent life raft riding, which was a move Girl Talk would pull as far ago back as seven years ago, but in recent times, Aoki has become known for leaping from the stage into a raft and riding it around the concert venue.

That act of celebration turned into something else at a gig in San Diego a few years ago, when a fan, Brittany Hickman, found herself underneath the raft before Aoki jumped. When he did, she was injured with a broken neck and ankle.

To no one's surprise, Aoki has been named in a lawsuit by Hickman, as well as the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego, where the concert was held. Read more here.

Clay Walker Tired of 'Outdated Rock-and-Rollers' Going Country
(Radio.com) Not everyone is happy to see the parameters of country music expanding as the genre becomes increasingly intertwined with classic rock. Perhaps not surprisingly, Clay Walker, whose next album is titled Long Live the Cowboy, is one of those people.

In a new interview with The Modesto Bee, the country staple sounded off on the influx of outside artists reinventing themselves in the country world, like Poison's Bret Michaels and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, who both recently released country singles.

'I can't stand to see outdated rock-and-rollers coming in to play country music," Walker said. "That really pissed me off. We have great singers, great country musicians. There's no reason we have to dilute it by letting people in the format that don't have any business being in the format."

As you can imagine, Walker is also not a fan of the blurring of hip-hop and country music--where rapper Nelly currently stands--but he's still able to appreciate that the genre has opened up for new fans. Read more here.

Trey Songz Surprises Fans With 'Intermission I & II' Release
(Radio.com) On Sunday night, Trey Songz became the most recent major R&B artist to pull a Beyonce. The singer released his latest project onto iTunes without any warning, sharing the complete version of his new mixtape, Intermission I & II, on iTunes out of nowhere.

Now, the mixtape is available to stream on Spotify as well. The project includes 12 total songs, six of which were originally released last month on his Intermission 1 EP. The other six, comprising Intermission 2, are all new.

Trey Songz nabs his fellow Virginian Pusha T for a feature on the song "How Could You Forget": it's a silky smooth track with a sticky hook--"how could you, how could you, how could you forget," Songz croons.

He stays in this mode for the rest of the mixtape--the luxurious beats never swerve from the lane he's carved out over his long career. You can buy the entire Intermission I & II project on iTunes, and stream the mixtape here.

Miley Cyrus Reveals Song She Wrote For Her Dead Blowfish
(Radio.com) Celebrities are just like us in that they get attached to pets and mourn the animals when they die. In the case of Miley Cyrus, that love even extends to pet blowfish, like her Pablow, whose death inspired the pop song to write a sad song lamenting its loss, which she revealed today (May 18) via Facebook.

The live recording, which is apparently untitled, is an ode for Pablow, who died under Cyrus' care recently. "Some of you may remember a few months ago my dear blow fish Pablow past [sic] away," she posted on her Facebook page. "I wrote this song for himHe made me so happy and I miss him everyday. But now he is with Floyd and Melanie's sweet Sadie."

A quiet ballad, the song finds Cyrus sitting at an electric piano while singing the very literal lyrics detailing the night Pablow died, including a sushi dinner with friends that didn't sit well with the singer. Check it out here.

(Radio.com) Only a day after his friend, fellow rapper Chinx, was killed in New York City, Meek Mill released a song in his honor. The track "Miss My Dawgs" featuring Travis $cott & Strap has Mill expressing the sadness he felt after getting the call that Chinx, real name Lionel 'Chinx" Pickens had been shot in his home city.

The low-key track, which also honors Mills protege the 18-year-old rapper Lil Snupe, who was shot and killed in 2013, hinges on the lines: "I miss my dawgs" saying that he "wished he was dead" when they killed his young friends.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight a few months back, Owen mentioned how the collaboration first came together. Courtney Love Releases Self-Deprecating New Song 'Miss Narcissist'
(Radio.com) Courtney Love has gone a long way in cleaning up her image over the past year, and showing she has a sense of humor about her past too--first with her semi-biographical role on Empire and, most recently, with her Montage of Heck appearance.

Now she's taking that task to her music. Her latest single, a surprise 7-inch called "Miss Narcissist," feels like another response to the persona she's built over the years.

On the track, Love seemingly refers to herself in third person delivering lines like, "Miss Narcissist, come on / Magnificent and obvious / Bless us with your presence / And your paranoia," and the chorus mockingly flippant chorus "Man, man, man, no apologies."

It's exactly the kind of self-deprecating jaunt you'd expect from someone who's serving as Lana Del Rey's tour opener. Check out the song here.

Brandon Flowers Thinks The Killers Don't Get Their Due
(Radio.com) Brandon Flowers just released his latest solo album, The Desired Effect, and he also took the opportunity to release one piping hot take: that although he'd like to let us finish, The Killers are one of the best bands of the last 15 years.

"Whether the people want to accept it or not, we might be the best band in the last long time," Flowers claims in an interview with The Independent. 'I'd go up any night against just about any band that's come out in the last 15 years."

Flowers added that he feels robbed of credit for his participation in a band that received seven GRAMMY nominations: 'Not that it's a competition, but I do feel sometimes people don't have a grasp on what we've accomplished and what we've acquired." Read more here.

American Authors Return With New Song 'Go Big or Go Home'
(Radio.com) American Authors have released their latest single, "Go Big Or Go Home." It's a bright, peppy singalong in the vein of Imagine Dragons, much like their first single to break the band big in America, "Best Day of My Life."

Over a high-key assortment of claps, shouts and pounding drums, American Authors unleash an anthem for those nights when you need an extra bit of encouragement.

"I'm thinking life's too short, it's passing by. So if I"m gonna go at all, go big or go home," frontman Zac Barnett croons. It's rousing stuff. This song is built for stadiums, arenas and enthusiastic high school sports coaches.

"I'm passed out on the hotel bar, but it's OK 'cause I'm feeling fine," meanwhile, pretty much sums up the entire song's sentiment. Check out the song here.

What One Direction's Liam Payne Wanted To Say At Billboard Awards
(Radio.com) On Sunday night, one of the most awkward moments of the Billboard Music Awards happened when One Direction's Liam Payne was abruptly cut off before he could deliver his acceptance speech for the group's Top Touring Artist award.

But Billboard attempted to rectify that after the ceremony when they asked Payne what he would have said. "I had my bit to say and, you know when you're going to do a speech and you compose yourself and get yourself in the zone?" Payne recalled. "I must have looked so ready on the mic, had the award in hand, ready to say my bit and then literally the music started. There was no countdown."

Ironically, Payne didn't have anything major planned for his speech. He was just planning on figuring it out as he went along. "I was gonna say thank you toI can't really remember," he said. "But it was something along the lines of, 'Thank you everyone. We've had an amazing tour so far sort of thing and we're back on tour July 9 in San Diego so we'll see you there.' New songs. New vibe." David Letterman Won't Revisit the Ed Sullivan Theater After Final Show
(Radio.com) "I'm naked and afraid." It was kind of a stunning quote that David Letterman made to during his interview with CBS Sunday Morning's Jane Pauley Sunday (May 17). Pauley was conducting Letterman's only televised interview where he was discussing his impending retirement. Letterman's final Late Show broadcast will be this Wednesday (May 20).

In the interview, Letterman said that when he walks out of the Ed Sullivan Theater Wednesday night, it will be for the last time. "I don't think I'll ever be back in this building again," he said.

"Honestly. I think it would just be too difficult for me, emotionally. There have been a lot great things to celebrate, there have been a lot of arguments [here], and nearly fistfights and nearly every emotion that people can share over 20 years. I just don't want to come back and see other people living our lives."

He mentioned that there will be a party after the last broadcast, but it's not one he's looking forward to attending. "I'm not looking forward to it at all," he said. "I don't want to go to a party, I recognize that it's good, cathartic perhaps, for all of us to be together, because it's not been easy on anybody who has been here any length of time, for this to end. So I recognize the symbolic importance of it. But holy crap. [mimicking a waiter/waitress] 'Care for a shrimp puff?' I don't want a shrimp puff." Read more here.
