Zac Brown Addresses Alleged Drug Bust Involvement

Zac Brown made headlines last week when rumors surfaced that he was involved in a drug bust in Palm Beach, FL, and now the Zac Brown Band frontman has addressed the issue.

Brown released the following statement, "My dad always said nothing good ever happens when you stay out late. It's a lesson I learned the hard way last week, being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I attended a private gathering at a Miami-area hotel and had only been there for a short time when police officers arrived and arrested two people in the room who had just showed up a few minutes before.

"I did not know these people and had no idea that there were drugs in their possession. I cooperated fully with the authorities and am not part of any ongoing police investigation. Everyone is responsible for their actions, and I regret using poor judgment and putting myself in that position.

"I am focused on continuing to make great music for my fans, and on representing my family and community well with our philanthropic work. And next time I'll make sure to remember what my dad taught me. - Zac"

Meghan Trainor Streaming New Song 'I Love Me'

(Radio.com) Meghan Trainor has released an online stream of her new song "I Love Me," which is a track from her forthcoming sophomore studio album 'Thank You' that is set to hit stores on May 13th.

The new song reflects what she's been sharing in interviews of late. Growing up, Trainor admits she was an incredibly insecure teenager, but she's since come to accept and embrace who she is both physically and mentally.

The song picks up on that self-confidence. In the opening verse, Trainor sings, "They gon' say all kind of things/ They make jokes about my name/ They gon' try to clip my wings/ But I'm gon' to fly."

The short song features Lunchmoney Lewis, who contributes more than just a verse and appears throughout the song. On the chorus, which takes the title and restates it as a mantra of sorts that pops against a jazzy upright bass line, Lewis and Trainor sing, "I love me/ I love me/ I don't know 'bout you/ But I love me." Listen to the new song here.

Halsey Joined By Panic At The Disco's Brendon Urie At Coachella

(Radio.com) Halsey surprised the audience gathered around Coachella's Outdoor Stage this weekend when she called upon Panic! at the Disco frontman Brendon Urie to join her.

Urie joined Halsey for performances of her song "New Americana" as well as his 2005 hit, "I Write Sins Not Tragedies." and video of the jam has been posted online.

Followers of Urie's Periscope feed will recall the singer covered "New Americana" last year during an impromptu piano session in his living room. But how and whey did Halsey and Brendon find friendship? The two became friends after the New Jersey born singer, a self-admitted fan of Panic!, reached out to Urie last November sheerly out of fandom.

The two apparently clicked instantly, and as MTV points out, quickly became best friends, even celebrated Urie's 29th birthday together last Tuesday. Watch the performance here.

Kongos Talk New Single 'Take It From Me'

(Radio.com) Kongos have released "Take It From Me," the first single from their hotly anticipated Egomaniac album, the follow-up to their 2014 major label debut, Lunatic. The song may sound a bit familiar to the band's die-hard fans.

The quartet, made up of all brothers, have been playing the song in their shows for some time, as bassist/singer Dylan Kongos tells Radio.com. "It was actually written by [drummer] Jesse, who sings lead on it; it was written quite a long time ago. When Lunatic took off for us in the States, we were kind of already in the writing process for Egomaniac. We toured with this song and played it live and we got a sense for how the crowd reacted to it. The groove got people moving so we knew it had potential."

However, something about the live version was getting lost, so the band dressed it up with some studio magic: "Recording it was a difficult process, because the live version was not coming across as we wanted it to. We changed it up a bit and now it's got a really good mix of something studio-sounding and the live energy. The arrangement changed: when we played it live, we had a long slide guitar solo in the middle of the song; it worked live [but not in the studio]. We also added layered drums: Jesse played every African drum and every western drum kit to make a big huge sound." Read more here.
