Lil Wayne and Jeff Goldblum Star In Super Bowl Ad

(Radio.com) The upcoming Apartments.com Super Bowl ad starts out simply enough: actor Jeff Goldblum, at a piano, singing the theme song from classic TV's The Jeffersons.

As he and his piano "move on up" with the help of a crane, Goldblum gawks and comments on the happy families moving into an apartment building. He pauses his song to say, "Wait a minute--Is that George and Weezy?" a reference to George and Louise Jefferson, the central characters of the iconic show.

Because the reference is probably lost on younger viewers, the camera cuts to reveal George Washington and Lil Wayne in the penthouse together. "Who else would it be?" Weezy responds, and Goldblum resumes his song with gospel choir in tow. Watch the cross-generational promotion here.

Tidal And Universal Differ On Rihanna's ANTI Leak

(Radio.com) According to executives, the sudden release of Rihanna's ANTI was as surprising to them as it was to fans. Despite shipping 1.4 million copies in the first 15 hours of release, the guerrilla strategy wasn't meant to be so off-the-cuff. Reps for streaming service TIDAL, which officially released the album, was quick to point fingers.

"Look, we know what happened here, in the sense that unfortunately we still rely on systems, and there was a system error. But I don't think it hurt it at all," Grace Kim, TIDAL's director of Marketing, told SPIN. She later clarified the comment, saying she was referring to an error by the album's distributor--Universal Music Group (UMG).

An anonymous UMG executive bristled at Kim's suggestion in an interview with Billboard. "This whole thing is absurd, we would have taken responsibility if it were our error," one anonymous UMG executive told Billboard. "Instead of having their flack flail around trying to revise their own media spin, maybe they should just focus on serving Rihanna -- that's what we're focused on." Read more here.

Lady Antebellum's Charles Kelley Goes Solo With 'The Driver'

(Radio.com) This week, Lady Antebellum's Charles Kelley steps out on his own as a solo artist with the release of his debut album, The Driver. But he's quick to let fans know that Lady A is still very much a working band, they're just taking a break.

"We just felt like we were maybe getting to a point where we wanted to step back," he tells Radio.com. "As a band we said, 'Let's just take some time, enjoy our families.'"

Oddly enough, the first taste of the album that we heard is the title track, which features Dierks Bentley and Eric Paslay. Apparently, Kelley likes being part of a vocal trio. "It's the song I'm probably the most proud of on the project. And it just happens to be that that's the one with another trio of voices."

Another song on the album is a cover of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers' "Southern Accents." "Every time I hear that song, it just reminds me of my dad and how he grew up. He was one of those guys that really did walk five miles to school, and had to work on the farm after school, and did things like that. So I always kind of picture him in my mind when I'm singing that song." Read more here.

DJ Big Kap Dead At 45

(Radio.com) The Hip-Hop world is in mourning today. It has been reported that DJ Big Kap, real name Keith Carter, has passed away. Funkmaster Flex posted the news early this morning via his Instagram account. No further details have been disclosed. Kap was 45 years old.

Although he was known for DJing with Funkmaster Flex in New York City at the legendary Tunnel nightclub and releasing an album, The Tunnel, on Def Jam in 1999, he was also a DJ for The Notorious B.I.G. early in the rapper's career.

My own memories of Big Kap go all the way back to a time before the Hip Hop world got to know him when he was just starting his career as a DJ, he and DJ Enuff were DJs for a party I used to promote. Sorry to see him go so soon.

Tributes from his fellow artists have filled social media. See some of them here.

Nina Dobrev Entices Tim Tebow with Sexy 'Lip Sync Battle' Performance

The football player's showing was considerably tamer than the actress' despite going heavy with props. Either way, both performances are worth checking out. Check out the preview clip here.

Bruce Springsteen Dances In The Dark With 89-Year-Old Grandma

(Radio.com) Lately, Bruce Springsteen's River Tour has been packed with moving tributes and homages, from David Bowie to the Eagles' Glenn Frey. There was a happier note Tuesday night in Toronto when the Boss brought an octogenarian grandmother named Evelyn onstage to help him out with "Dancing in the Dark."

The story gets even better: Evelyn was at the show to celebrate her 89th birthday. Rocking leggings and a leather jacket, Evelyn looked right at home in the pit.

Memorably, Courteney Cox filled that role in the music video years before she appeared on Friends. Evelyn became that iconic "lucky fan" to join Springsteen as he sang the hit before an arena. Watch the video here.

Kesha's Mother Claims Legal Win Over Dr. Luke

(Radio.com) Pebe Sebert, Kesha's mother, has given an update on the ongoing legal battle between her daughter and producer Dr. Luke. Sebert has been vocal on social media throughout the ordeal.

"Dr Luke's lawsuit AGAINST ME, was dismissed by a judge today!!" she tweeted. "Truth is powerful stuff!!" To recap the issue: Kesha is seeking freedom from her existing record contract because it, in effect, will require her to collaborate with Lukasz 'Dr. Luke" Gottwald, who she has alleged has abused her.

Luke filed a counter suit disputing the claims, and also sued Sebert for defamation. On Wednesday Dr. Luke's suit against Ms. Sebert was dismissed by a New York Supreme Court justice Shirley Kornreich. However, she may not be out of the woods, as she faces a similar motion in Tennessee.

The next step will in this matter will be a ruling on Kesha's motion for a preliminary injunction so she can record without Dr. Luke, that decision is expected later this month, per the artist's Instagram account. See the post here.
