School of Seven Bells Streaming Forthcoming Album SVIIB Online

(Vagrant) School of Seven Bells are streaming their forthcoming album "SVIIB" on via NPR's First Listen, giving fans an early full listening to the effort ahead of its official release on February 26th. We were sent the following background on the album:

It was in the summer of 2012 that School of Seven Bells' fourth and final album, SVIIB, was written. It was in early 2013 that Benjamin Curtis was diagnosed with a rare form of T-Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma, less than a year later Deheza would be the sole member of the group. Benjamin Curtis passed away on December 29, 2013.

Alejandra Deheza reflects, "I can easily say that it was one of the most creative and inspired summers of our lives. What followed was the most tragic, soul shaking tidal wave that life could ever deliver, but even that wouldn't stop the vision for this record being realized."

In 2014 Deheza moved to Los Angeles to finish the record with Justin Meldal-Johnsen (Beck, Nine Inch Nails, M83), As soon as Alley was settled in LA it took the two only a month and a half to finish the record.

"This is a love letter from start to finish. It's the story of us starting from that first day we met in 2004, and that's the story of School of Seven Bells," Alley says, "When I see those roman numerals, I just think of an era". Listen to album here.

Justin Timberlake Recording New Music

(Radio.com) Justin Timberlake is back in the studio making new musicfor the upcoming Trolls movie. Swedish pop duo Icona Pop snapped a pic with the executive music producer for film.

They were in the studio recording a tune for the soundtrack, and Timberlake was on hand to oversee things. The group captioned the photo, "3 trolls in the studio."

Icona Pop has an upbeat, pop-dance feel that integrates heavier instruments, like trumpets, not normally associated with that particular sound. It seems like the perfect fit for an animated feature about a bunch of wild-haired dolls. See the photo here.

Hozier Tackles Domestic Abuse In 'Cherry Wine' Video

(Radio.com) Hozier debuted the music video for his new single "Cherry Wine," and it touches on a heavy topic. Starring Oscar-nominated actress Saoirse Ronan, the video looks at domestic abuse.

The music video shows a seemingly sweet moment between Hozier and Ronan, kissing and playing around. But that scene becomes increasingly dark when cut with footage of Ronan standing before a mirror and removing her makeup to reveal a black eye.

"Hozier is making 'Cherry Wine' a clarion call to highlight the issue of domestic violence," the artist's website states. "The song's lyrics offer a unique insight into an abusive relationship, shining a light on the cycle of 'justification' often perpetuated in domestic violence incidents; that public health experts say controls the abused, shames the victim, and shifts responsibility for the abuser's violent behavior."

Hozier stated on his website, "With the song 'Cherry Wine,' I tried to get across the difficulty of coming to terms with and facing up to domestic violence and the dynamic of an abusive relationship. I'm honoured to be joined by Saoirse Ronan, video director Dearbhla Walsh and Moe Dunford in spreading awareness on this issue."

Calling the song one of her favorites from his album, Saoirse Ronan shared that she was honored when Hozier approached her to be in the music video. She stated, "I hope through the video and song we can shine light on the issue and complexity of domestic abuse and in doing so help those caught up in the cycle of domestic violence." Kesha Posts Message To Fans Ahead Of Big Day in Court

(Radio.com) Kesha's ongoing legal action against Dr. Luke and her label Sony has been lengthy, marked by small victories and setbacks. Today, February 19, the singer will finally have her day in court, which could decide the fate of her recording career moving forward.

Kesha maintains that she's attempting to extricate herself from a multi-album deal with Sony following abuse she allegedly endured at the hands of her producer, Lukasz Gottwald. In the run-up to her Friday appearance in court, she's used Instagram to think fans and narrate some of the emotions she's felt as that pivotal moment approaches. One post featured her hugging an unidentified friend or fan.

"tomorrow this is me + u guys. every one of you who has sent me sweet messages thoughts or energy. I am so grateful," she captioned the image. Earlier, Kesha went deeper, positing that this potential turning point is just as critical for other women as it is for her.

Kesha's fans have been vocally instrumental in applying public pressure and raising awareness about the singer's predicament. A handful of protests and support rallies have been staged as well as online petitions.

"I have nothing left to hide. I did this because the truth was eating away my soul and killing me from the inside. this is not just for me," she wrote. "this is for every woman, every human who has ever been abused. sexually. emotionally. mentally. I had to tell the truth. so the outcome will be what it will be. there's nothing left I can do. it's just so scary to have zero control in your fate. but this is my path this life for whatever reason." DJ Khaled Inspired Yo Gotti To Make 'Down In The DM'

(Radio.com) Yo Gotti explains how DJ Khaled inspired him to make his smash "Down in the DM" in a new appearance on the Rap Radar Podcast and he also reveals that he didn't expect much from the track.

"I recorded the record ["Goin Down in the DM"] in Khaled's studio," he told hosts Elliott Wilson and Brian "B.dot" Miller. "I played him my album and asked 'What you think missing?' He told me, '[I was missing] a tempo.' I started making them tempo records. One of them was 'Down in the DM'."

But Gotti didn't have high expectations for the song at first. "I just put it on the tape," he said. "I ain't gonna try to take no credit for being, like, 'I knew it was the joint.' It was just another song to me. I make four, five songs a day. I'm not even dwelling into the music that long."

Gotti also revealed that the remix to the song, featuring Nicki Minaj, was a last minute play that barely made the final cut. "The craziest s- is I got the verse the day before the pre-order went up," he said. "You talkin' about taking the album off iTunes and reloading it back up' it's almost an impossible thing to do. Nobody thinks you can clear a Nicki verse in 24 hours Not only did we get the verse but we got it cleared in 24 hours and up on iTunes and out." Read more here.
