Natalie Cole's Cause of Death Revealed

(Radio.com) It was just one week ago that nine-time Grammy-winning singer Natalie Cole passed away at Cedar Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles at the age of 65. The daughter of the late Nat King Cole faced many medial problems over the years and now the exact cause of death has been revealed.

According to a statement, Cole suffered from idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension, which led to heart failure. Her family released the statement on Thursday (Jan. 7) that explains following receiving a kidney transplant in 2009, Cole was diagnosed with pulmonary arterial hypertension, a rare lung disease that causes shortness of breath, dizziness and sometimes chest pain.

The statement also stated that she "responded well to pulmonary arterial hypertension-specific agents over many years, during which she performed many concerts world-wide, but eventually succumbed to intractable right heart failure, an outcome that unfortunately commonly occurs in this progressive disorder." One Direction Won't Return Zayn Malik's Calls

(Radio.com) In a new interview with Billboard, Zayn Malik reveals his disappointment that his former bandmates in One Direction haven't exactly kept in touch with him.

"The truth of it is, you can think one thing about a situation and the total opposite can happen," he said. "I had every intention of remaining friends with everybody, but I guess certain phone numbers have changed and I haven't received calls from a lot of people. I've reached out to a few of them and not got a reply. Certain people have pride issues, but it's stuff you overcome in time."

Perhaps their silence has something to do with Malik's increasing vocality about how creatively restricted he felt while in 1D. In December 2015, he spoke with Fader about how the band's pop formula eventually began to grate on him.

Malik echoes those sentiments in his Billboard interview, sharing that even though he appreciated his time in 1D, he often felt like writing songs was a machine-like endeavor. Read more here.

Taylor Swift's Reveals Unplugged Version Of 'Blank Space'

(Radio.com) Taylor Swift has shared an acoustic version of her hit single "Blank Space." Taylor introduces the track as a reaction to the media painting her as the "psycho-serial dater girl."

"My first reaction was to be like man that's a bummer, this isn't fun for me," says Swift. "But then my second reaction ended up being, hey that's actually kindof a really interesting character they're writing about, she jet sets around the world collecting men, and she can get any of them, but she's so clingy that they leave and she cries, and then she gets another one in her web and she traps them and locks them in her mansion and then she's crying in her marble bathtub surrounded by pearls."

"I was like, I can use this," Swift jokes. The performance comes from Taylor's stripped down set at the GRAMMY Museum on September 30th. Check out the unplugged version of "Blank Space" here.

Joey+Rory's Joey Martin Feek Had 'Roller Coaster' Holidays

(Radio.com) Though Joey+Rory's Joey Martin Feek who has been battling cancer, has set a goal to live long enough to see the Grammys (and with luck, win one), the songstress had a rough patch over the last few weeks.

"The holidays have been a roller-coaster for my bride," Rory Feek writes on his ThisLifeILive blog. "She's had some good days, some bad days - some wonderful moments, and some deep pain that the morphine just couldn't seem to touch. How could it' it wasn't that kind of pain."

He goes on to explain the emotional pain that comes to all around the holidays and how this year it affected Joey in a new way. "Though she managed a smile most of the time, Joey's heart was heavy and she was feeling some things she hadn't before'," he writes. "A sadness. A fear of the unknown. And even some anger-not at God, just at her situation I suppose. It's not easy for her to be as excited about what the new year holds in store as it was last year." Read more here.

The Arcs Release Song Inspired By 'Making a Murderer'

(Radio.com) It looks like Ellie Goulding isn't the only artist recently obsessed by the hit Netflix docu-series Making a Murderer. The Arcs released a song composed in just two days about the events the documentary explores.

The Arcs, which include Dan Auerbach, Leon Michels, Richard Swift, Homer Steinweiss and Nick Movshonthe, wrote on their SoundCloud page, "It's like Billy Childish says, 'We live in troubled times.'

"Last week, we got a sneak peek at what goes on behind the curtains of our criminal justice system. A few sleepless nights later we gathered in the studio and wrote this song. Written, recorded, mixed and mastered in 2 days."

The speed with which the nearly 5-minute song was composed and produced doesn't come across. Exuding a slower quality with ethereal guitar and a high-hat laced beat, the lyrics are the song's major standout. Listen here.

Adele Shares Gym Photo Online

(Radio.com) Adele's return has been nothing short of spectacular. She broke first week sales records in both the US and UK; 25 would sell a single-week record of 3.38 million copies in its first week according to Nielsen SoundScan, the most since it began tracking point-of-sale music purchases in 1991.

Of course, Adele is being praised for her vocal performance on the album. But much like the care her vocal chords require to maintain their abilities, Adele needs to be in physical shape for her upcoming world tour.

That means going to the gym. Adele, who tends to steer clear of social media, posted a photo of herself at the gym and her face says it all. See the photo here.

Singled Out: Francesca Kray's Haunted

Kray Twins niece and up-and-coming artist Francesca Kray tells us about her debut single "Haunted," which was co-written by Larry Nacht (Nicki Minaj, Jason Derulo) and produced by DJ Replay (Miley Cyrus, Madonna). Here is the story:

I remember it was late autumn. Larry Nacht and I had gotten together in New York to write. We already had "Rebound," as well as bits and pieces of other songs. We were still looking for that one song that kind of encapsulates all the others. Brings them all together, with one overriding theme.

At some point I went back to LA, and we were on the phone. Larry says "listen to this." I hear a little guitar riff and then "will you still haunt me" And that was that. I mean, come on! "Will you still torture me so gorgeously" If that isn't love, I don't know what is.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and watch the video right here!
