Beyonce Sued By Filmmaker For 'Lemonade' 'Similarities'

(Radio.com) Last month, some Beyonce fans brought up some similarities between the baseball bat scene in her Lemonade "visual album" and Pipilotti Rist's "Ever Is Over All" and now another filmmaker is suing Beyonce because elements throughout Lemonade seem similar to his short film, reports NME.

The suit cites "graffiti and persons with heads down," 'red persons with eyes obscured," 'side-lit ominous figures" and 'the grass scene" as being suspiciously reminiscent of Matthew Fulks' film Palinoia.

Fulks said he passed the film along to Bryan Younce, an executive at Beyonce's label Columbia Records, in July 2015. Given the timing and alleged access to his work, Fulks believes his ideas inspired visual elements in Lemonade--particularly the widely viewed trailer which aired weeks before the album debuted on HBO.

The filmmaker seeks a portion of profits earned from Lemonade. Watch Palinoia here.

Justin Timberlake Appears On Little Big Town's New Album

(Radio.com) Justin Timberlake almost broke the internet in March when country music fans saw a photo of him hanging out with Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman.

At the CMT Music Awards, producer Pharrell Williams shared that JT recorded some background vocals in for "C'mon," a song from the band's upcoming album, Wanderlust, which he produced.

"We were in the same studio at the same time. So we had Justin in one room. Little Big Town in another room," Williams told ET. "Quite naturally, people are going to visit each other and Justin ended up singing on one of the songs."

Fairchild added, "It was like the old days when artists used to hang out in the studio and you might hop in and listen to somebody's song. He came down and listened to what we were doing. He was like, 'Oh my gosh, what if I sang this?'" Read more here.

Judge Makes Ruling On Prince's Estate

(Radio.com) When Prince died in April without a will, it was difficult for Bremer Trust, which administers his estate, to begin licensing deals for his music and image. Now, a Minnesota state has ruled that Bremer Trust has until November 2 to put deals in place for licensing Prince's intellectual property.

Complicating matters regarding Prince's inheritance is a dispute between his sister, Tyka Nelson, his six half-siblings and two men who both claim to be his sons.

Bremer Trust had argued that it was urgent that deals for matters such as Prince's back catalogue and unreleased music are resolved, because of a large tax bill which Prince owed.

Prince's intellectual property is estimated to be worth $300 million, but half of that could be taken by state taxes because he didn't have a will. Read more here.

Banks and Steelz (RZA and Paul Banks) Announce New Album and Tour

(Radio.com) RZA and Interpol's Paul Banks have a new musical project together, Banks and Steelz, and their debut album Anything But Words is set to be released later in 2016. The 12-track album features Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine, Wu-Tang Clan's Ghostface Killah, Method Man and Masta Killa, and Kool Keith.

RZA said the idea of collaborating with Banks first came to him in 2013. "When I met Paul, I recognized the New York energy he has as a music artist," he said. "We got to know each other playing chess and vibing out in the studio. Our talents connected in a unique way and we started writing songs. The outcome was something distinctively different from my previous work, yet with another layer of cool."

To get that "distinctively different" feel, the album's first single "Love and War" combines the distorted guitar melodies that defined Interpol with the steady beats and honest verses that came to represent Wu-Tang Clan, all with the added flare of a trumpet towards the end.

In addition to releasing their upcoming album, Banks & Steelz will be going on tour beginning in late July. Their first show kicks off in Los Angeles on July 21 and wraps up in Phoenix on October 9.

Check out the video for "Love and War," the album's full track listing and Banks & Steelz tour dates here.

Wu-Tang Clan Vs. Martin Shkreli Musical Being Crowdfunded

(Radio.com) Could the ongoing drama between ex-CEO and general bad guy Martin Shkreli and the Wu-Tang Clan be the next big Broadway hit? Possibly, but at the very least it'll make for a hilarious night of theater.

In late 2015, Shkreli purchased the Wu-Tang Clan's rare album Once Upon a Time in Shaolin for $2 million and made several threats about what he would do with it. They involved destroying the album, keeping it locked away from the public or placing it in a hard-to-reach foreign location so interested listeners had to first go on a pilgrimage to reach it.

That kind of behavior helped fuel the rumor that Wu-Tang Clan had included a clause in the album's sale stating they could hire Bill Murray to help get the album back, heist style.

Now, there's going to be a musical about it. The "musical comedy caper" is called Martin Shkreli's Game: How Bill Murray Joined the Wu-Tang Clan, according to Fact. To help get the production off the ground, the writers have launched an IndieGoGo campaign. Read more here.

Chance the Rapper Regrets Leaving Collaboration Off 'Coloring Book'

(Radio.com) It's the curse many an artist has experienced once they finally release a new project to the public: Wishing they could go back and make additional changes. Just ask Kanye West about the way he handled The Life of Pablo.

Chance the Rapper seems to be experiencing some self-doubt, which he expressed Thursday (June 9) on Twitter. "Listening to old versions of the songs from Coloring Book. Same Drugs had Regina Spektor on it," he wrote in a post. "Not using this may be my biggest mistake."

Chance's new mixtape Coloring Book includes all kinds of features, like Future, Young Thug, Justin Bieber and T Pain, but the track "Same Drugs" is a vocal song showcasing only him.

Listening to the version that made it onto the album, the track's piano--which acts as much as melody as rhythm--seems like an ideal spot for Spektor to shine, not to mention the added bonus her harmonies could have lent his singing. Read more here.

2016's CMT Awards Went Beyond Country With Special Guests

(Radio.com) When CMT's 2016 Music Awards aired Wednesday night, at first viewers weren't sure what kind of program they were watching. While the show was filled with country music's top names it also featured artists not usually associated with the genre, including Pharrell Williams and Cheap Trick.

The show kicked off with Keith Urban, Brett Eldredge and Maren Morris in Bridgestone Arena in Nashville performing his single 'Wasted Time" , then threw to an outdoor performance by an Elvis-flavored Billy Ray Cyrus along with Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Cheap Trick.

JJ Watt and Erin Andrews attempted to segue the audience between the stages and venues. Main stage attractions were Luke Bryan, who got the crowd involved with his performance of 'Huntin', Fishin' Lovin' Every Day," Florida Georgia Line with their new single "H.O.L.Y," and Jason Aldean's "Lights Come On."

Arguably the most "country" moment of the night came when Blake Shelton sang his song "Doin' It to Country Songs" with The Oak Ridge Boys, and then they closed with latter's hit "Elvira."

When Blake won CMT's Social Superstar award he said, "That's not what I was going for, but what the hell! I have a few drinks and get on Twitter once in a while. I didn't know you could get paid for that, but damn!"

Dierks Bentley and Elle King were perfection in their performance of "Different With Girls." Read more and see the winner list here.

Grace VanderWaal Honored By Taylor Swift Comparison

(Radio.com) Grace VanderWaal wowed audiences with her performance on America's Got Talent. The twelve year-old sang an original song titled "I Don't Know My Name," accompanying herself on ukulele (she also plays the sax and piano).

The judges were in awe. Simon Cowell even speculated VanderWaal could be the next Taylor Swift. She was given the golden buzzer, sending her directly to the final round of competition. But before giving her the buzzer, Howie Mandel awarded Grace high praise, telling her that one day the world would know her name.

Radio.com spoke with Grace about the reaction to her performance and Simon's high praise. Radio.com: Simon called you the next Taylor Swift. How did that feel?

Grace: Honored is the only word I can think of. Obviously I want to be my own person. I want to be unique, but I think he meant it as the success of Taylor Swift, because everyone knows Taylor Swift, she's extremely successful, and hopefully one day I could be as successful as Taylor Swift. Snoop Dogg Challanges 50 Cent For Worst Opening Pitch Ever

(Radio.com) Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent have been compared in the rap game for years, but no one ever thought their performances on the pitching mound would ever be pitted against one another.

Then Snoop Dogg walked onto the field at San Diego's Petco Park on Wednesday (June 8) to deliver the ceremonial first pitch in a game between the San Diego Padres and the Atlanta Braves.

The rapper looked pretty cool in dark shades and a jersey adorned with the words "coach snoop." He threw the ball Let's just say it wasn't exactly over the plate.

Soon after Snoop's pitch sailed far right of the waiting catcher and almost hit a cameraman in the leg, fans started comparing the errant throw to 50 Cent's first pitch at Citi Field, home of the New York Mets, in 2014. Read more here.

'Game of Thrones' Grey Worm Actor Also A Pop Star

(Radio.com) Those in the entertainment industry like to wear many hats. Actors love to sing, singers love to act, and it seems like pretty much everybody has written a book.

There's one actor on the popular HBO series Game of Thrones who also has a foot in the music game. The actor who plays Grey Worm, Jacob Anderson, is also a pop/R&B artist by the name of Raleigh Ritchie.

Anderson as Ritchie has an EP and a debut studio album titled You're a Man Now, Boy under his belt. On the album's single "Werld is Mine," Ritchie shows off his rap skills on the verses and his vocal talent on the chorus.

With a chill feel running throughout the song and a horns section building at the end, there's a British pop feel about "Werld is Mine" at the same time that it's got a headier R&B sensuality about it. Listen to "Werld is Mine" here.

Air Traffic Controller Singled Out Week: Are You With Me

Indie pop group Air Traffic Controller recently released their new album "Black Box" and we asked them to tell us about some of the tracks. Today, guitarist Steve Scott tells us about the song "Are You With Me". Here is the story:

"Are You With Me" began as a short fragment of a song that Dave played for me one day as we were considering songs for what would become ATC's new album "Black Box." He actually played three short songs for me that had been written around the same time, and they each centered around a friend he had who was going through a really difficult patch in his life. Dave came over to my little basement studio called "The Hatch" and we cut three short acoustic demos of the songs. For a couple of weeks after that I played around with each of the partial songs to see what kinds of arrangements, parts and sounds might work for each. As I kept hearing Dave's beautiful lyrics about hope in the face of adversity it occurred to me to try connecting them together into a miniature little suite. I demoed up all the parts and sent it to the rest of the band and our producer Bleu. We all eventually agreed that the full suite was not going to fit with the rest of the songs on the album, but Bleu and the band all resonated to the middle movement of the suite. From there Bleu and the rest of ATC created some really magical parts and composed a new chorus for the song that allowed it to stand up on its own. I'm consistently blown away by the depth of talent in Bleu and my bandmates, and the final version of "Are You With Me" is a perfect showcase of their musicianship and especially Dave's infectious optimism.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, learn more about the album right here!
