Jack
White Goes Country
VH1.com reports:
A broken index finger is a nightmare for any guitarist, yet, in one way,
it facilitated a dream come true for White Stripes frontman Jack White.
"I got to work with
Loretta Lynn, producing her album in Nashville," White told MTV Radio in
his typically sedate, emotion-free tone. "She wanted to make one final
album, and I put my name in, and they let me have a chance at it. It worked
out really well. Me and Loretta have become pretty good friends since last
year, and I think we work together really well"

Coldplay
Press Pause
Much Music reports:
Coldplay's Chris Martin says that his band will be taking some time out
of the public eye. In an interview with NME, Martin says that the band
has to "reinvent the wheel" for their next release, calling their recent
V Festival appearance "the death of soft rock" for the band. Before the
band disappears, Coldplay embarks on a brief tour of South America. - Click

Foo
Fighters White Album?
NME reports: FOO
FIGHTERS are to start work on their 'WHITE ALBUM' - while frontman DAVE
GROHL stays at home relaxing with his new wife.
Grohl and drummer
Taylor Hawkins told NME of their plans while they take a break from touring
for a while.
Grohl said: "Taylor
and I live about five miles away from each other, Taylor’s got a studio
in his basement, I’ve got a studio at the house in Virginia and I’m building
a studio in my house in LA."
Hawkins added: "We
both have little studios set up. We’re coming up with all these riffs now.
We have six riff-things floating around and I think one or two of them
will make it into a bridge, or part of a record. We need to do 30 or 40
things before we decide on those ten. "We always think we’re gonna make
a ‘White Album’, a 20-song thing. But at the minute it’s good to listen
to the riffs and see what we’re going to sound like on the next record."

Heavy
Beck
Launch reports:
Next week, Beck plans to start working on his eighth album, the follow-up
to last year's Sea Change. The new material is going to be louder and more
rock-oriented than his last LP. Beck told RollingStone.com the upcoming
release is "pretty aggressive. I've been working on it for a while, but
I ended up doing Sea Change first. I've been wanting to do a record with
loud guitars for a long time."
The new recordings
will likely be a blend of some older material Beck wrote around the time
of 1999's Midnite Vultures and songs that sound similar to his earliest
recordings. Beck said, "My early stuff was a lot more punked out and noisy.
I didn't really let myself use big guitars for a lot of years. The early
'90s was so saturated by big guitars that I became really interested by
what I could do if you took all the guitars out--with the space that was
left."

Stroken
Chart Attack reports:
As recently as a couple of months ago, cynical music types were speculating
that the great hype band of 2001, The Strokes, would never be able to follow-up
their
debut album, Is This It. But now, The Strokes have not only announced an
official release date for album #2, they’ve also leaked out the album’s
title and a full tracklisting.
The Strokes’ sophomore
album will be called Room On Fire and its due out in Canada on October
21. The record will feature 11 new tracks, including the long time live
staple, "Meet Me In The Bathroom."
Room On Fire will
be preceded by a commercial single for the song "12:51," which will be
in domestic stores on October 7. According to MTV.com, the video for the

Webcasters
Sue The RIAA
AP Reports: An alliance
of online music broadcasters sued the recording industry in federal court
Wednesday, alleging major record labels have unlawfully inflated webcasting
royalty rates to keep independent operators out of the market.
Webcaster Alliance,
an organization claiming some 400 members, filed the suit in U.S. District
Court for the Northern District of California, claiming the major labels
and the Recording Industry Association of America have maintained a monopoly
over their music.
The suit alleges
the negotiations for arriving at royalty rates to broadcast songs over
the Internet violated federal antitrust laws and seeks an injunction that
would prevent the major labels from enforcing their intellectual property
rights and collecting royalty payments.- Click

Frigo (lead guitar), and Vik Fox (drums) will perform their first show
together in over a decade at the Cat Club in Hollywood.
They booked this

just may be the precursor to a full blown reunion.
Also performing that
night at the Cat Club will be Phil Campbell and the Wankers; a jam band
put together by the Motorhead guitarist (Campbell) and Happenin' Harry.
With Motorhead just completing their North American tour with Iron Maiden

have many special guests jamming with him on stage including members of
