Phil Vs. Dimebag & Vinnie
Breaking up is hard to do. And that's been the case with Pantera. Former Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul spoke with Revolver magazine for their Feb 2004 issue and he spoke about former Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo and accused him of heavy drug use, "I don't know if he was using the whole time or what, but it got to the point where I didn't know which Phil was gonna show up to the gig. One night he would walk in and be a f***ing animal. The next night, I'd walk backstage and he'd be lying in the corner and he'd say he was tired."  Our friends over at siN's metal news spoke with Phil about about these comments and this is what he had to say: "For Vinnie Paul's information and anybody else who would like to know, I've been f**kin' stone-cold sober for f**kin' two years I feel like a f**kin' boy scout, for God's sake," he continued. "And f**kin', you know I can have a couple of beers, let's get it straight.

"There was another thing brought up in that interview where Vinnie Paul said that he knows how to stop drinking, you know, and they can control themselves. And magically Diamond Darrell didn't answer a f**kin' thing. You know why that is? Because his f**kin' friends have to carry him f**kin' home every goddamn night every night on tour, he gets carried to the f**kin' bus. Now, you tell me me f**king up one time in my life compared to his f**kin' three thousand and seven. Give me a f**kin' break, man!"

Jane's Manson Tour Off
Aversion reports: Only a month ago it was announced that Jane's Addiction and Marilyn Manson would play dates with openers The Used in late December and early January. Yesterday it was announced by Capitol Records representatives that the two co-headliners have called off the tour due to unspecified reasons. Rumors have been circulating that the tour was cancelled due to low ticket sales, but those rumors have yet to be confirmed.

More of The Clash
Johnny Green's first-hand tale of being the Clash's lead roadie will be rereleased.

A Riot of Our Own: Day and Night with The Clash will hit stores in Britain next week to commemorate the anniversary of Joe Strummer's death. Baker, who led The Clash's large number of stage hands through the London Calling (1979, Epic) tours, revisits his days behind the scenes with the Last Angry Band and puts a personal spin on the musicians' tale.

The 2003 edition will feature new material, including Green's comments upon Strummer's Dec. 22, 2002 death and The Clash's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year.. -Click Here for the Full Story

Coldplay Pretenders
Chart Attack reports: Most modern holiday songs are pretty horrendous, which is why good ones like The Pretenders' "2000 Miles" are loved by so many music fans. It seems that Coldplay's Chris Martin is also a fan of the song, as he's just recorded an acoustic version of the song to sell as a charity download.

The song can be found on Coldplay's official website.

The track will cost you about $2.65 American and will only be available until January 1. Unfortunately, the track is only accessible to PC users (ack!) in the Windows Media Format, although once you download it, you can play it, transfer it to a portable player or even burn it onto CD. Before you think about trying to find an illegal download of the track, keep in mind that all proceeds go to support the charities Stop Hand Gun Violence and Future Forests.

Wall-Tunes
Reuters reports: Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said on Thursday it will begin testing digital music downloads on its Web site, undercutting many competing services and perhaps sparking a price war in the crowded online music field.

Wal-Mart, which has grown into the world's biggest company by undercutting its competitors in the traditional retail business, will try the same strategy online, offering individual songs for 88 cents each -- compared with most other services that offer songs at 99 cents each.

Wal-Mart will face off against incumbents like Apple Computer Corp.'s iTunes service, Roxio Inc.'s revamped Napster site, Dell Inc. and many others. Microsoft Corp. and Hewlett-Packard also have said they intend to launch competing services next year. . Click Here for the Full Story

The 55-year-old rock star, who was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame earlier this month, will host the syndicated "Nights With Alice Cooper" starting Jan. 26.

"It'll be sort of an 'Alice's attic,'" Cooper said. "The way to do it is to make this kind of rock n' roll become theatrical on radio, the way I made it theatrical onstage. There will be ongoing stories and characters, but it will be wrapped up in classic rock."

The show, which will originate at Phoenix's KDKB-FM, will air on at least six stations in the Midwest and New England. .-Click Here for the Full Story

Say whatever you like about Lars but he did put out some cool music on his short-lived Elektra vanity label. Brand New Immortals could have been huge if Elektra would have gotten behind them..  same story, different day.
