Kelly Osbourne's Label Sanctuary
Billboard reports: Kelly Osbourne has signed a multi-album recording contract with Sanctuary Records Group.

The label will on Sept. 30 re-release her 2002 Epic debut "Shut Up" under the name "Changes," featuring a duet with her father, Ozzy Osbourne, on the title track. The repackaged album will also contain four bonus live cuts.

The title track is a reworking of the Black Sabbath song of the same name, which appeared on the group's 1972 album, "Black Sabbath, Vol. 4" (Warner Bros.). "Changes" will be released as single, and will contain new lyrics written by Ozzy and Kelly, according to Sanctuary. . Click Here for the Full Story

Yes it's cynical but there was speculation that Sharon would only sign Ozzy to a new label if they took on Kelly too. So it's not hard to imagine that an announcement of Ozzy signing to the label will be made in the future.  But it's doubtful that changing the name of her album will help sales, especially going from a powerhouse like Epic to a smaller label like Sanctuary, which specializes in bands who had previous success on major labels and doesn't have the marketing muscle of majors.

Nugent TV a Reality
AP reports: Rocker Ted Nugent is getting into the reality show craze with his own reality show called "Surviving Nugent."
Seven daring souls will try to survive Nugent's all-terrain universe for cash and prizes. The seven include a vegan, a gay man, a New Yorker and a sex kitten. The two-hour reality event will premiere Oct. 5 on VH1. . - Click Here for the Full Story

What about a reality show of Ted running for Governor? Now that could be real fun. Kill em and grill em.

The Boss Gets $36 Mil Richer
AP reports: The 10 sold-out shows for Bruce Springsteen (news) and the E Street Band at Giants Stadium this summer will bring his production company more than $36 million, according to the New Jersey Sports & Exposition Authority, which operates the stadium.

The authority on Wednesday approved a payment of $25.5 million for the first seven shows to Springsteen's Thrill Hill Productions Inc. The authority is to make payment next month for the final three shows in August, pushing the total to $36.4 million.

Springsteen was guaranteed $1.7 million for each concert and a percentage of concessions, about 13 percent of all money collected. .- Click Here for the Full Story

$36.4 million sure is a lot of money for someone held up as a working class "blue collar" hero. But it's great work if you can get it. Bruce Springsteen's Giant Stadium run will make for a moneymaking watershed for this hero of the everyday guy.  (But Bruce if you feel guilty for making all that money, you can send a million or two our way. You'll never miss it, but we could do a lot of damage with it!)

NOFX DVD
Aversion reports: NOFX's Ten Years of f***ing Up has entered the digital age.

The video, in a spruced up DVD edition will hit stores Oct. 7 from Fat Wreck Chords. In addition to all the goofiness you loved on your analog edition, the re-release features commentary by the band. It also features commentary upon the commentary courtesy of The Vandals. Seriously. We wish we made that last part up.

"It's actually a lot less funny than it sounds, so consider yourselves warned," a Fat newsletter said. - Click Here for the Full Story

Dez Speaks Out / Rose Strikes Back
RIFTrock reports: Earlier in the week, Sevendust's drummer, Morgan Rose, revealed that their newest single, "Enemy" was directed towards Dez Fafara. Fafara has posted on his band, Devildriver's website, relating to Rose's comments.

"With all my focus being on my new project, Devildriver, I hate to take the time to dignify Morgan Rose's childish comments and hostile allegations regarding Coal Chamber. With that said be sure to check out the BRUTAL HEADBASHING METAL DEVILDRIVER is waiting to unleash on the masses when we are on the road with The Blackest Of The Black Tour starting in Texas on October 23. Our self-titled album hits stores on October 28 and is sure to fulfill the appetite of any metalhead. Lastly, I would like to say I am glad that I did not inspire a love song for their lite rock ballad single and for Morgan Rose to please grow up."- Click Here for the Full Story

Digital Noise has this response from Rose: The war of words continues between Sevendust drummer Morgan Rose and ex-Coal Chamber/current DevilDriver frontman Dez Fafara.

Rose has issued a statement in regards to Fafara's comments that were made earlier today.

Rose's statement reads as follows:

"If Dez Fafara thinks my comments were out of line and childish, its [sic] interesting that he's calling up my wife crying for forgiveness while still talking s*** on the internet. To set the record straight, I never had a problem with Coal Chamber, it was always with Dez. No one in the music industry should be surprised that someone finally stood up against this guy, his behavior and the way he treats people. The reason Coal Chamber isn¹t together anymore is because his band mates hated him. And I think most people in my shoes would have taken harsher actions if their wife was treated the way Dez treated Rayna. By the way, who¹s writing Dez's press statements for him?" - Click Here for the Full Story

Jewel Nixes Tour
AP reports: Jewel has canceled her North American tour due to the death of her bass player, her record company announced Thursday.

Terome "T-Bone" Hannon died Sept. 4 after suffering a stroke. The Detroit native, who was 39, had played with Jewel for three years.

"T-Bone was a phenomenal player and we all loved him," Jewel said in a statement released by Atlantic Records. "We are all just in shock and hurt."

The tour had been set to begin on Sept. 19 in North Charleston, S.C. Although Jewel will not perform with her band, Atlantic said she plans to perform alone at acoustic shows in the near future. .- Learn more with the Full Story

P2P Companies Help Sued Trader
Here is a follow up to the story from earlier this week, where the 12-year-old girl was sued by the RIAA for file trading.

siN's metal news reports: The twelve year old girl sued earlier this week for file trading by the RIAA, will have her $2,000 settlement paid for by a coalition of file trading companies. The honor roll student, who shared such files as "If You're Happy and You Know It" on her PC, was one of 261 users facing lawsuits from the RIAA. P2P United, a lobbying group which has many file trading companies as members, has announced they'll be paying the settlement. "We don't condone copyright infringement, but it's time for the RIAA's winged monkeys to fly back to the castle and leave the Munchkins alone," says Adam Eisgrau, executive director of P2P United. - Click Here Full Story

Are lawsuits the major labels new business plan to help the bottom line from shrinking profits? It's an interesting new revenue model but in the long run they might be better off improving the product so people will actually want to buy it.  Then again, they think for some reason that they are recession proof.

Smoking Didn't Kill Zevon
Launch reports: While reports of Warren Zevon's passing on Sunday (September 7) at age 56 indicate that he died of lung cancer, that's not the whole story. Zevon's cancer wasn't related to his long-term smoking habit--it was mesothelioma, which is caused by exposure to asbestos and which takes root in the chest and abdomen.

Zevon's son Jordan Zevon told LAUNCH that his father thought he knew where he had been exposed to asbestos. "The two things he remembered were being up in the attic in my grandfather's house and there being that creepy pink insulation, and then my grandfather owned a carpet store for awhile, and he always used to hang out [there]," Jordon Zevon said. "But he definitely had a very vivid memory of being up in that attic and just being around this stuff that, you know, as it's floating through the air, it didn't seem like this could be good for anybody."- Click Here for Full Story

Email of the Week
From Virginia G: I really like the day in rock news thing you do, especially the emails. I can start my day knowing what happened with some of my favorite rockers. But I don't like all the snide comments made in the stories. Why do you feel you have to put everything down? It only takes away your legitimacy and makes you look no better than a tabloid. IMO. It's not even funny. Please stop it and stick to reporting.

Response: Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Clause. Sorry, I couldn't resist. I'm glad you like the Day In Rock reports but as to the stupid commentary, all I can say is we're antiMUSIC. It's nothing new for us. I'm sure you are not alone but we're not going to stop putting them in, it just wouldn't be us if we did. However, if they continue to piss people off we might consider ratcheting them up a bit!  (Believe me they are very constrained. I can only imagine what antiGUY, Hobo or Scott Slapp would write if they did the reports).  I hope that answers your question!  Stay anti Keavin
