Fear
Factory Murder? |
Rocky Mountain News reports: Westminster police
have identified a murder victim found naked with her hands severed as Catrina
Renee Powell.
The night before Powell's body was found,
four heavy-metal bands played at the Ogden Theater near where she was last
seen.
Detective Sgt. Tim Carlson said Monday
that police have explored which bands were appearing at the concert venue
at the time and were aware of the heavy-metal show.
One of the bands in the show, Fear Factory,
was promoting a new song titled Bite the Hand that Bleeds.
That song's lyrics contain the refrain:
"One more drop of blood I spill/ one more drop you take/ one more drop
and I will spite/ and bite the hand that bleeds."
When asked about that song Monday, Carlson
said investigators were not aware of the Fear Factory song and didn't know
if it could have any connection to the case.
"To say it might have some significance
- perhaps. I couldn't discount it.
"Perhaps, at the same time, maybe it was
just a coincidence. To say it's actually tied in, who knows?" Carlson said.

Anselmo
Retiring? |
MTV reports: In response to the killing of
Dimebag Darrell, ex-Pantera singer Phil Anselmo has issued a rambling,
emotional statement saying he's devastated by what happened, and calling
the slain guitarist "the most beautiful person, one of my best friends
in
"I love Dimebag Darrell because there was
not one mother----er like him," he said. "I love him like a brother loves
a brother."
...Anselmo planned to attend Darrell's
public memorial service Tuesday night in Arlington, Texas, but was told
that Darrell's family didn't want him to attend (see "Thousands Gather
To Mourn Dimebag Darrell"). "I never got a chance to say goodbye in the
right way and it kills me," he said. "I wish to God I could've gone to
his funeral, but I have to respect his family's wishes, and they do not
want me there. I believe I belong there, but I understand completely, I'm
so sorry."
Not only did Darrell's death dash the hopes
of a Pantera reunion, Anselmo said the incident has made him question his
own career as a musician. "This has changed the entire world, and this
is the last you'll be seeing of me for a long time," he said. "I hope you're
happy, heavy metal music magazines, media, I hope you're happy. I'm done."

Ludacris
O'Reilly Dis Tame |
Reuters reports: Rapper Ludacris has decided
to take the high road with his nemesis, Fox News anchor Bill O'Reilly,
who cost him a lucrative endorsement deal two years ago by denouncing his
lyrics as "garbage."
His new album, "The Red Light District,"
which opened at No. 1 on the U.S. pop charts on Wednesday, mostly ignores
O'Reilly's recent legal battle with a woman television producer over telephone
sex calls she says he made to her.
"Hi, Mr O'Reilly," Ludacris raps near the
beginning of the album. "Hope all is well, kiss the plaintiff and the wifey."
And that's it. No tidings of ill-will or
hopes for a grisly death. Eminem could have wrung several albums out of
it. [see full story for more]- Click
