Eminem
SNL Lip Sync |
antiMUSIC reports: A week after Ashlee Simpson
was caught using a pre-recorded vocal track on Saturday Night Live, some
are accusing rapper Eminem of doing the same thing. "Fox & Friends"
co-host Mike Jerrick said Sunday morning on Fox News that it appeared Eminem
was lip-synching during his performance on Saturday Night Live. That at
one point the rapper took the microphone away from his mouth and viewers
could still hear him rapping.
A search of Google News service turns up
a story on Hundredpercenter Newswires blog spot by Malachy Joyce that says
"Eminem looked foolish, for not only lip synching, but doing a very bad
job of it.
"At one point, Eminem, who was out of synch
with the voice over, put his mic down near his hip and stopped rapping.
However, the song with voice continued." [see full story for more including

Maybe SNL should stand for Singing Not Likely?
Feud
of the Day: Avril Vs Ashlee |
Reuters reports: With Ashlee Simpson in the
news this week following a disastrous lip-synching appearance on "Saturday
Night Live," Canadian pop singer Avril Lavigne says it's "pathetic" that
some young artists don't sing on their own record or on stage.
"You know what? There are a lot of people
out there today, who have become stars or famous musicians -- I wouldn't
really define them as a star -- with a record only because they have connections
and only because they have money and for the wrong reasons," Lavigne, 20,
told Billboard.com.
"And it sucks. Actually, I know for a fact
there are some young female artists who don't even sing on their own records
and who don't sing live. And that is pathetic." [see full story for more]-

al-Qaida
Metal Head? |
Blabbermouth reports: A man who describes
himself as an American al-Qaida member on a threatening videotape is believed
to be Adam Yahiye Gadahn, a U.S. citizen from Southern California who wrote
in a web posting that he was obsessed for a time with "demonic heavy metal
music" before moving to Orange County and discovering the Islamic faith.
The man, whose face on the tape is all but obscured by a checkered keffiyeh
Arab headdress, is identified only as "Azzam the American," according to
NBC4.tv.[see full story for more]- Click

video footage of the band's performance at the Rock Hard Festival in Germany
in 2003.
"Witches" one of two songs laid down
during a quick demo session in August 2003 (the other being "Born In A
Tank") was "[written] in [the] true CANDLEMASS style," according to mainman
Leif Edling, featuring "both heavy and hard passages, lots of negative
riffing, melody and slow doomy choruses." [see full story for tracklist]-

Box of Rarities |
Pitchfork reports: Our favorite alternatively
rocking space-age bachelors (and bachelorettes, right) are preparing to
catch thee up with their many EPs, singles and other stray tracks-- Switched
On-style.
Now, it's been about nine years since the
last Switched On comp, so there's quite a collection of ephemera to wade
through-- and it would appear their newest collection is designed with
the completist in mind. According to a post on the band's website, next
spring will see the release of a giant 3xCD compilation stretching back
to the 18-minute majesty of "Jenny Ondioline", which was first released
in 1993. The set, tentatively slated for mid-April, is being mastered in
a few weeks, at which point the final running order (and presumably, the
title) will be fixed. [see full story for more]- Click

means the world to us and I would never do anything to let them down. Besides,

Jay-Z
Boots R.Kelly |
antiMUSIC reports: R.Kelly was kicked off
of his co-headlining 'Best of Both Worlds' tour with Jay-Z on Saturday
after accusing members of Jay-Z's entourage of attacking him with pepper-spray.
Kelly claims that he was assaulted with pepper spray while on stage in
New York on Friday.
Kelly went on stage Friday night and spotted
two members of the audience with guns, so he walked off-stage while security
dealt with the problem, according to his publicist Allan Mayer. Once he
was given an all-clear by security, who found no weapons, he began to walk
back on-stage when he, along with two of his security guards, were reportedly
sprayed in the face with pepper spray by someone in Jay-Z's entourage.
Kelly and his guards were taken to St Vincent's
Hospital in New York for treatment. Kelly was reportedly ready to resume
the tour on Saturday at Madison Square Garden but was informed by the promoter
that he had been banned from the venue and Jay-Z was to perform as the
sole headliner. [see full story for more]- Click

Howie
Day Collide |
press release (epic) reports: More than a
year after its release, Howie Day's STOP ALL THE WORLD NOW is blowing up,
thanks to relentless touring and the recent success of surprise hit "Collide."
The breakthrough smash rocketed all the
way to No. 20 on the Adult Top 40 Airplay Chart and was recently highlighted
in its entirety on the hit WB series "One Tree Hill." After the show aired,
Day's album sales erupted, rising more than 73%. In addition, "Collide"
is garnering extensive airplay. A video for the song was recently filmed
with director Chris Mills (Modest Mouse, Kanye West).
Earlier this year, Day performed a stunning
acoustic version of "Collide" during an appearance on a European radio
show. When the song became a hot commodity among Day tape traders, fan
demand prompted Epic to issue a special edition of STOP ALL THE WORLD NOW.
The special version, scheduled for a November 16th release, will feature
four bonus tracks, including the acoustic rendition of "Collide" (and "Brace
Yourself," taken from the same performance), along with two rare b-sides
("This Time," "Standing In The Sun") produced by Youth (The Verve, Crowded
House, Dido) during the album's original recording sessions at Olympic
Studios in London. [see full story for more]- Click

Gambits Call It Quits |
press release (press release) reports: A Message
from Chris Fogal of The Gamits:
Hey everybody. Chris here. The Gamits are
calling it quits. Yes, its true. There are many reasons for this happening.
Mainly it is just time to move on. As many of you know there have been
a few different people in this band over the years and I am the only original
member. Here is a list of everyone who has played in this band; Matt Vanleuven
( bass mostly and drums at one point ) Matt Martinez ( bass ) Forrest Bartosh
( drums ) Scott Weigel ( bass ) Luke Mathers ( bass ) Brian Pentagram (
drums ) Scott Swarers ( bass ) and Jason Walker ( drums ). I would like
to thank every one of you for being in the band even if it was just for
a couple weeks or a couple years. I will hold back from thanking anyone
specifically except band members because if I thank one person I have to
thank about 500. Ok, I will make one exception and thank Virgil Dickerson
because he was always been my right hand man and has supported the Gamits
through thick and thin.
The current line up worked very hard and
helped to put out what I believe to be the best album we ever did. (Antidote)
It received overwhelmingly good reviews and has hopefully left its own
little mark on this music scene. For that I am very proud. [see full story
