Live CD? |
Blabbermouth reports: In a recent interview
with the Rocky Mountain News, Jack Endino, NIRVANA's original producer
in the early days and the project consultant for the just-isued "With the
Lights Out" box set, speculated that a NIRVANA live album could be next
collection to come out. He also talked about how he helped track down recordings
for the new NIRVANA box. "There could have been a CD of live stuff," he
said. "There could have been a CD of acoustic stuff. There could have been
a CD of demos and outtakes. There could have been a CD of B-sides. Just
B-sides alone, you can make a full CD of that." [see full story for more]-

Go Metal... or Mental? |
Blabbermouth reports: LIMP BIZKIT frontman
Fred Durst has posted the following message on the band's official web
site under the heading "People Are Dumb":
"The album is so f*cking heavy it hurts.
I have found my favorite LIMP BIZKIT album and you have never heard it...
Thanksgiving is creeping up here in the States and all I want to do is
make molten metal... The anticipation is growing and the album is written
and being tracked as I type. Yes, all the songs have been written. We stepped
into this enviornment and went at it non-stop and found ourselves lying
in the middle of a warfield of tracks. From beginning to end it is relentless.
Too much information is too much, but I figured you were curious. I'll
be back." [see full story for more "Deep Thoughts With Fred Durst"]-

Hockey Mask Tribute |
BW&BK reports: Florida goaltender Rob
Zepp is not off to the start he wanted for the 2004-05 ECHL season, but
he hopes the change he received Wednesday will help.
A big classic rock fan, Zepp had an artist
paint his goalie mask in honor of his favorite band — LED ZEPPELIN. The
black or purple helmet depending on how the light hits it, is covered in
thin lightning bolts. It has "Zepp" spelled in the band's signature lettering
on the chin. A picture of Old Father Time holding his lantern, just like
from the inside cover of Led Zeppelin IV, is on each cheek. On the back
is the symbol of founding member John Paul Jones (circle over three interlocking
ovals) that purportedly represents a person who is confident and competent.

Kinder, Gentler Copyright Bill |
Wired reports: The Senate passed a scaled-back
version of a controversial copyright bill Saturday, keeping a provision
that imposes severe penalties on people caught with camcorders in movie
theaters but scrapping other provisions that copyright-reform activists
had criticized.
On Saturday, the Senate met and passed
the Family Entertainment and Copyright Act of 2004, or SB3021 (.pdf), a
revised version of the Intellectual Property Protection Act (HR2391), which
had cobbled together a handful of copyright-related bills. Now the bill
heads to the House of Representatives for consideration in early December.

Help Sales |
Variety reports: Three albums that saw their
release dates moved up will take the top three places on Nielsen SoundScan's
tally of the nation's music sales this week.
Eminem's "Encore" (Interscope) repeats
in the top slot, selling about 800,000 copies in its first full week of
sales. The album, released Nov. 12, will have hit a cume of about 1.5 million
units in its first 10 days.
Columbia moved up by one day the release
of "Destiny Fulfilled" by Destiny's Child, but enough retailers broke the
street date to get it on shelves several days before that. In its first
full week, the album will post sales in the ballpark of 490,000. "Crunk
Juice" (TVT), by Lil' Jon and the Eastside Boyz, is looking at sales of
340,000. That disc sold 38,000 copies prior to its official release. [see

showcasing bands who are in town on that day. Each artist will play a single
song in a room in a house that's destined to be destroyed shortly after.

Leo, The Evens and Bob Mould into a house that was burned to the ground

spot, despite a turbulent year that has included cancellations, bandmember
firings, prison spells, addiction and failed rehabilitation.
Close behind in the Top 20 are Mike Skinner
(a re-entry from last year) and Eminem (up from 16) followed by Razorlight’s
Johnny Borrell, Nick McCarthy from Franz Ferdinand and Morrissey, making
a new entry. [see full story for more, including the list]-

Saint Turns Trash into Fashion |
antiMusic reports: ROXY SAINT, musician/performance
artist/guerilla filmmaker, is launching A most unusual line of clothing
- one-of-a-kind dresses made from black plastic trash bags, each one designed
and painted by Roxy herself. The anti-fashionista is calling the limited
line "TRASH COUTURE," and the first dresses available, all priced at $55.00
go on sale today at www.roxysaint.com.
The Los Angeles-based Roxy, who shops at
thrift stores and makes or customizes most of her own clothes, came up
with the idea when her wardrobe was stolen while she was on tour in the
U.K. Financially unable to replace her gear, she got creative and improvised,
bought a box of plastic trash bags at a London market, cut out holes for
her head and arms, and used acrylics to paint a face on the front of the
bag. "I really liked the idea of wearing trash bags," said Roxy, "because
they are totally anti-fashion, and I don't want to be identified by what
I wear, but by my music."
Her first trash bag dress was a big hit
on stage. Such a hit that the dresses became an essential and fun part
of her wardrobe. That led to friends and fans asking where they could get
her "rubbish wear." [see full story for more]- Click

Schon New Solo CD |
press release reports: What could be next
for a musician who's done it all? As the lead guitarist and songwriter
for the multi-platinum band Journey, his work with guitar legend Santana
and composer Jan Hammer, NEAL SCHON has lived the life of several rock
gods. Still, he continues to reinvent himself, taking his own musical vision
to new heights with his sixth solo outing, i on U, a dazzling collection

and makes it brand new."
"Since I joined Santana," he continues,
"I've always tried to go into every album in a different way. i on U is
taking me to a new place and new sounds, but you can hear my years of work
throughout the whole album. Sitting back and listening to it now, the history
with Santana and Jan Hammer really shines through."
