(MTV) [More on this story from yesterday. MTV has this update. be sure to click the full story link to read it all]Has Maynard James Keenan, the frontman of both the dark, heavy-metal art band Tool and the somewhat lighter A Perfect Circle, found Jesus and been born again? Well ...
Recent postings on two Tool Web sites — one of them purportedly by
Keenan himself — contend that the singer has found religion and has left Tool. Could this really be? On Tuesday afternoon (April 5), MTV News' Kurt Loder e-mailed Keenan for confirmation, and this is what he e-mailed back: "I did, in fact, find Jesus. More news to follow. God bless ya."
Keenan's letter to fan site toolshed.down.net explains that "some recent events have led me to the rediscovery of Jesus" and that "Tool will need to take the back seat."[see

religion is a mental disease for the weak and insecure. maynard recognizes it. its a hoax. he's probably just makin fun of korns guitarist.

I hope this news is not true, I have been inspired by his music and his thoughts....this artist's music could never be duplicated or compared to, I own every album he has and its a shame that he would let his talent sleep.... I just hope Jesus would talk back to him and let him know that his music is god's gift to him and wants him to to keep writing and give the world his message.

Well i love Tool and APC and I have been waiting for a long time for Tool to come back and keep on rockin. I think that their music should be put in a good route, but I do not wish for Tool to split because of this. Maynard is awesome and I wish him the best if this accusation is true.

Every year, you people bite on Maynard's April Fools joke. you would think you would learn the first 5 times he does it.

No one should be disappointed in Maynard if it turns out that he did, in fact, find Jesus. No one should be surprised either. Tool has long preached "Open-mindedness" and to "Think for yourself." Maynard would just be doing that. If this is his decision, awesome. More power to him (and I'm not just saying that cuz I also am a Christian). He's never said anything about being "anti-christ" just against the middle man that makes the profit off of spirituality (in an interview). In that case, I agree. Tool has always, ONLY been about the art. The music and delivery for Maynards vocals and words. The only Tool and APC fans that will be angry at MJK are the ones who really think that "Eulogy" is aimed at Christ, himself and that "Judith" has anything to do with the real God/Jesus. They are the 'fans' that don't understand anything and just take everything for face value. "Eulogy" is aimed at L. Ron Hubbard and makes for a wonderful song. "Judith" is about the fundamentalist extremists (christians with closed minds) who make God out to be nothing but judgement and hate. Get aMOTION, listen to Maynard's commentary on Judith. Listen to interviews, read them... pay attention to what they (band and members) really say... "read between the lines." This is great for Maynard. I admire the man for all he's said and done. What does this mean for Tool? We'll find out sometime. Til then, God bless you all.

Doubt it...But he said in a different way...wtf does that mean?!?!?

Maynard is pulling a fast one on you guys. If Maynard found Jesus he'd f*ck him in his ass.

What is the big deal. I am a Christian and love the music of Tool and A Perfect Circle. Some of the lyrics in the past could be interpreted as Spiritual (i.e. Judith). Keenan, you can be a Christian and be in a Rock band. Reach the masses through your music...

well, hard to find something that I destroyed long ago... long live my sweet dark ass

I think it is a joke. It was posted on April Fool's Day and MJK has a pretty twisted humor. It goes against everything he's
been about and everything
he has said in his music.
I don't believe in my heart or mind that maynard
is a hypocrit.

The real letdown here is Danny Carey went golfing. Golfing!

Hope it's true. It would be great for a songwriter of his talent to write about Christianity. In the words of G.K. Chesterton, "The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting. It has been found difficult and left untried."
