Microsoft Vs Apple

(FMQB) It has been revealed that Microsoft actually holds the patent to some of the technology used in Apple's wildly popular iPod. Appleinsider.com reported earlier this week that Microsoft filed a patent for the technology five months before Apple. The discrepancy was not taken care of or made public until a few weeks ago. If Microsoft is awarded the final patent on the technology, it would charge Apple a licensing royalty fee to continue using it.

Currently, the iPod makes up approximately 75 percent of the U.S. portable MP3 player market. "Apple invented and publicly released the iPod interface before the Microsoft patent application cited by the examiner was filed," Apple spokeswoman Natalie Kerris told the New York Daily News. The iPod was introduced in October 2001, Microsoft's initial patent application was filed in May 2002 and Apple's filed in October of that year.[imagine Bill Gates trying to steal someone elses idea. see full story for more] - Click here for the Full Story
