Microsoft Vs Apple
FMQB reports: It has been revealed that Microsoft actually holds the patent to some of the technology used in Apple's wildly popular iPod. Appleinsider.com reported earlier this week that Microsoft filed a patent for the technology five months before Apple. The discrepancy was not taken care of or made public until a few weeks ago. If Microsoft is awarded the final patent on the technology, it would charge Apple a licensing royalty fee to continue using it.

Currently, the iPod makes up approximately 75 percent of the U.S. portable MP3 player market. "Apple invented and publicly released the iPod interface before the Microsoft patent application cited by the examiner was filed," Apple spokeswoman Natalie Kerris told the New York Daily News. The iPod was introduced in October 2001, Microsoft's initial patent application was filed in May 2002 and Apple's filed in October of that year.[imagine Bill Gates trying to steal someone elses idea. see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Waking Up Dead
Adrenaline PR reports: Eris Productions and PTP Productions announce today that the theatrical debut of WAKING UP DEAD is scheduled for later this month in New York City. The feature length documentary will be shown beginning August 26th at the Tribeca Cinemas in lower Manhattan, located at 54 Varick Street.

Filmed over a four yearsperiod, Emmy Award winning journalist and filmmaker Fabio Jafet uncovers the seedy underworld of the music business through the eyes of friend, Phil Varone, of SAIGON KICK and SKID ROW fame. Jafet reveals what really goes on behind the scenes in a way never captured before on camera. The film is a brutally honest and a hardcore look into the addictions, betrayals and pitfalls on the relentless road to rock stardom.

Jafet says, “Phil’s life was spiraling out of control. The only way to help him was to make a movie and force him to come face to face with his own demons. The content of the film is so extreme that we’ve actually had a difficult time getting it released at all. We had to severely edit the film to avoid a rating of NC-17.”[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
