Garbage Split?
Gigwise reports: Following rumours of a split earlier this year, it now appears that Garbage may have finally called it a day, with an announcement that all European dates on their 2005 world tour have been cancelled.

A statement released on Friday placed the blame for the cancellation on the band's heavy workload and in particular their touring in 2005, though the fact that their tour schedule fails to differ from any other popular band's touring schedule or the fact that it is only the second tour they have done in the last seven years was not mentioned.[see full story for more including the statement]- Click Here for the Full Story

Axl Blames ASCAP
antiMUSIC reports: Earlier this month former Guns N' Roses members Slash and Duff filed a lawsuit against Axl Rose because Rose reportedly instructed ASCAP to route all royalty payments to his publishing company, thus cutting off royalties due to other members of the group.

Apparently that was all a big mistake. According to MSNBC, Axl's attorney, Howard Weitzman, says that it was a clerical error on the part of ASCAP. Axl apparently instructed them to send only his portion to his publishing company but they sent the whole lot. MSNBC reports that Weitzman said that Axl has since returned the extra money to ASCAP.

ExFuel Vs Fuel
Audio Aggression reports: Former Fuel drummer Kevin Miller filed suit in a Pennsylvania court Monday against several corporations affiliated with the group claming, among other things, that he didn't get his share of a $3 million advance for a recording deal. Fuel signed to Sony in July 1997 and Miller joined the group in December '97, and like the other three band members, he was supposed to receive 25% of all profits generated from the band's touring; 6.5% of all publishing royalties; and 25% of the recording revenues. Before the release of 'Natural Selection', Sony advanced the band $3 million, of which $1.665 million was earmarked for recording, and each member was to receive $353,000 of the advance. Miller only received $212,000 and was told by guitarist Carl Bell that he was getting less since he was not a member of the band when Sony awarded the recording contract.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Savage Garden Greatest Hits?
antiMusic reports: Another good CD that you wanted to buy will be displaced on record store shelves soon by yet another useless greatest hits collection. andPOP reports that the defunct pop group Savage Garden are pulling a Hilary Duff and releasing a greatest hits complication culled from their vast song library of two albums.

Why would you want to buy this album if you already own the group's two previous CDs? Well, the marketing geniuses will include the standard $16.99 song for a greatest hits CD. That track, "So Beautiful" isn't actually a Savage Garden tune, it was recorded by the former lead singer Darren Hayes for his forthcoming solo album. If you can hold out a few months, you won't need to repurchase all the hits including "Truly Madly Deeply" and "Crash and Burn," as Hayes will include the bonus track on the aforementioned solo album when it hits stores early next year.- Click Here for the Full Story

Dickinson Blames Sharon Not Ozzy or Sabbath
Day in Rock reports: Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson has publicly spoken out about what happened at their final stop of Ozzfest (for those that missed the story, look for them in last week's Day in Rock). The following is an excerpt from an interview with The Sun.
Q: Who do you think was behind it all?
A: "Everyone knows it's Sharon Osbourne. It's certainly not Ozzy or Sabbath - they have too much class to condone stunts like that. She hates me for making remarks about reality TV. I hate reality TV. People should get off their arses and do stuff and not be so voyeuristic."
Q: Her stunts seemed to backfire as you played a magnificent set and soon after, thousands walked out in disgust?
A: "We left for the airport pretty well straight after we came off but we could tell there were a lot of disgusted fans who had paid good money to see us. The audience was incredibly behind us all the way and they really lifted us. If they hadn't been happy, there may have been a riot as those fans were really disgusted with the cowardly attacks." Motley Journey
Day in Rock reports: Fun fact, according to MTV Tommy Lee was the original "rock star" that producers had in mind for the show that became "Tommy Lee Goes to College". It turns out that the show's creator originally planned to have the show revolve around former Journey frontman Steve Perry, who inspired the idea. Perry turned down the gig because he didn't want to be humiliated on TV. Guess Steve forgot about the "Separate Ways" and "Oh Sherry" videos. Check out the full story to learn the whole tale of how Tommy Lee and not Steve Perry ended up going to college. (it involved showing NBC execs his peacock) [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

EvanLohance: The Next Sonny & Cher
antiMusic reports: It appears that wannabe pop tart and Disney screen queen Lindsay Lohan wants to have a little more cred on her next album. To aid in that goal she has shacked up… oops .. Freudian slip... teamed up with former Evanescence guitarist Ben Moody to work on material for the new album which is expected to assault our ear drums sometime next year (you were warned!) People magazine broke the news of this collaboration which may just supplant Sonny and Cher as the most powerful music duo in pop history. And no, Lindsay is not expected to cover George Michael's "Father Figure" on the album. - Click Here for the Full Story
