Idol Probe
AP reports: Taking a page from Washington, the producers of "American Idol" and Fox TV hired an independent counsel to determine whether judge Paula Abdul had an affair with a contestant on the hit talent show.

"Any allegations against this show we take quite seriously," Fox Entertainment President Peter Liguori said Thursday, calling the competition's credibility "extraordinarily important to us."

Liguori refused to say if Fox and producers Fremantle Media and 19 Television would fire Abdul if the claims by Corey Clark, an unsuccessful contestant on season two, were found to be true. RIAA Rampage
FMQB reports: [A couple days after a study revealved that P2P users buy more legit music, the RIAA goes on a new rampage!] The RIAA has announced that a new round of copyright infringement lawsuits have been filed against 765 illegal file sharers. These "John Doe" lawsuits cite individuals for sharing copyrighted music via unauthorized P2P services such as Grokster, eDonkey, KaZaA and LimeWire. The litigations were filed in federal district courts across the country, including California, Colorado, Georgia, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

"In the coming weeks and months, we will significantly expand our anti-piracy efforts for those who have ignored the Court's message," said RIAA President Cary Sherman.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Contact Music reports: RUM-DMC rapper REVEREND RUN claims he was visited by his late bandmate JAM MASTER JAY, days after the DJ was murdered in a New York City recording studio.

The hip-hop star, real name JASON MIZELL, was fatally wounded in Queens studio in October 2002, devastating his family and bandmates Reverend Run and DMC.

Gigwise reports: An expert has claimed that listening to excessive music can cause hallucinations.

Dr Victor Aziz, a psychiatrist at Whitchurch hospital in Cardiff believes that listening to music on headphones too much can have pretty disturbing consequences.

Gigwise reports: Green Day have revealed they have started work on around 15 songs for their next album.

Billie Joe says that although laying down tracks is still in the very early stages, he's happy with the way things are going.

Phil Collins Vs Oasis
Gigwise reports: Former Genesis star Phil Collins has hit back at Liam and Noel after receiving a string of insults from the brothers.

The singer and drummer moved from Britain to Switzerland several years ago, and just before the latest general election in May, Noel Gallagher urged the British public to vote Labour, saying: "If the Tories (Conservatives) get in, Phil Collins is threatening to come back and live here."

However, Collins maintains he doesn't even vote Conservative, reports breaking news. He said: "Noel calls me the anti-Christ. It frustrates me but who cares?

"I'm so flattered the Gallaghers have spent a lot of time thinking about me. I've repaid the compliment. I've just done the TV show Room 101 and they're both in it."

Plant Live EP

Plant is selling a four-song live EP the group recorded at a show in Paris on June 9. It has three songs from their album "Mighty Rearranger" � "Shine It All Around", "Freedom Fries" and "Tin Pan Alley" � as well as LED ZEPPELIN's "When the Levee Breaks". Doherty May Face Charges
NME reports: Police are investigating an assault allegation made this week against PETE DOHERTY.

The investigation stems back to an incident on Tuesday night (July 26) at the Boogaloo pub in north London.

According to a Metropolitan Police statement: "Police are investigating an allegation at the Boogaloo pub, Archway Road, Highgate, N6 at approximately 18.55 on Tuesday 26 June. Lamest Songs Special
Here we are at the final day of this special. This has sparked some spirited debate. To those that got all bent out of shape because a song they liked was listed here, you are taking this far too seriously!  It's a lame list of lame songs. Don't forget that there is still time to make YOUR nominations to the lamest artists of all time list.  Going by some of the submissions so far, the reaction to this list was tame, some of the names listed there will surely get some people all up in arms. But always remember, just because it's lame doesn't mean people don't like it. And of course, it's all very subjective now isn't it? Before you get to the now full list, we leave you with the words of George Bernard Shaw - "The secret to success is to offend the greatest number of people."
