Kottonmouth
Kings Vs Supreme Court |
Kerosene Media reports: The AAMC (American
Alliance for Medical Cannabis) and Suburban Noize Recording Artists the
Kottonmouth Kings have joined forces for an upcoming demonstration and
protest on June 25th in West Los Angeles, CA at the US Federal Building.
The protest is a direct reaction to the
recent Supreme Court ruling that allows the government to block doctors
from prescribing marijuana for patients suffering from pain caused by cancer
or other serious illnesses. In a 6-3 decision, the court ruled the federal
prosecution of pot users under the federal Controlled Substances Act was
constitutional. The closely watched case was an appeal by the Bush administration
in a ruling involving two seriously ill California women.
Ten states, including California, have
laws allowing marijuana use for medical purposes. California's law, passed
in 1996 under Proposition 215, permits people to grow, smoke or obtain
marijuana for medical purposes upon the recommendation of a doctor.[see

Stars
Tribute Billy Graham |
press release reports: On the eve of what
might prove to be Billy Graham’s final crusade, legendary musician Pat
Boone has brought together some of the brightest stars from across the
musical spectrum to create a moving tribute to the renowned 86-year old
evangelist’s life and work. Boone’s labor of love, “Thank You, Billy Graham,”
inspired the participation of musical artists from various genres including
pop, country and gospel. A portion of proceeds from the recording will
benefit Mercy Corps and Samaritan’s Purse, two charitable organizations
dedicated to relieving poverty around the world.
The tribute video performance opens with
Bono’s perspective lauding Graham’s global influence and then rolls into
a stunning montage highlighting his impressive career and the notable figures
who have looked to him for spiritual guidance. The song itself is reminiscent
of “We Are The World” with such vocalists as Andre Crouch, Kenny Rogers,
LeAnn Rimes, and Michael McDonald, among others, handling verses and the
entire ensemble joining on the indelible chorus, “He heard the word, got
the call, took the message to us all, said it so we all could understand.”[see

Atheist
Reissues |
Relapse reports: Relapse Records is proud
to announce the forthcoming reissue of the entire recorded works of seminal
technical metal pioneers ATHEIST.
ATHEIST was one of the first truly adventurous
bands to break out of the late 80's death metal underground. In addition
to ATHEIST's albums (1989's Piece of Time, 1992's Unquestionable Presence,
and 1993's Elements) being benchmarks of quality and progression, the band's
musical vision directly influenced many noteworthy artists both past (CYNIC,
later-era DEATH, PESTILENCE) and present (The DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, NECROPHAGIST,
SPIRAL ARCHITECT).
Relapse will start by issuing a limited
edition, foil-stamped box set containing LP versions of each of the ATHEIST
full-lengths, as well as the R.A.V.A.G.E. (pre-ATHEIST) "On They Slay"
7" EP exclusive to this edition. The LP box will be strictly limited to
1,000 copies and surface in July. The CD re-issues will follow in the late
Summer/early Fall starting with Elements on August 30 (US) and September
5 (Europe) [see full story for more]- Click

Bam
Margera Viva La Bands |
Fourfivesix reports: Bam Margera to release
"VIVA LA BANDS": a CD & Bonus DVD with bands Bam wants you to know
about out June 21st!
If you have to ask who Bam Margera is,
we have to ask if you live in a cave or own a television. Our intention
is not to diminish cave dwellers, but it's been our experience that most
people have some sort of communication with the outside world and popular
culture, and as such have at one point or another crossed paths with skateboarder
& MTV icon Bam Margera, and now self-declared rock music championer.
You're not one of those people? Well here's a quick insight into the man
known as Bam and a little project we like to call "Viva La Bands":
CD features new, unreleased and hit singles
for the following bands: Daniel Lioneye, HIM, The 69 Eyes, Atrocity, The
Rasmus, The Sounds, Negative, Fireball Ministry, Turbonegro, The Datsuns,
Clutch, CKY, D-A-D, The Beatsteaks, Kill Hannah, Cradle of Filth, Viking
Skull, Helltrain, Bendover, Children of Bodom, & Smack [see full story
