Otep
Shut Down |
siN's metal news reports: The Fire Marshall
and local police were called in to close down OTEP's Louisville, KY show
at the Bulldog Cafe due to what was stated to be a "huge crowd". With the
crowd steadily growing all night, and reaching its peak as OTEP took the
stage, the officials were finally alerted. Details from OTEP's tour diary
are below:
"even though this show only lasted 12 minutes
& 47 seconds it was obvious to me that it was populated with one of
the most intense & passionate audiences we've ever had the pleasure
of experiencing .. if only we would have been able to play the entire set
.. wow .. we would have shaken the foundations of the cosmos .. but the
fire marshall was a complete communist & shut everything down.[see

Brett
Dennen Debut |
Skye Media reports: On the heels of a very
successful Bonnaroo weekend (event organizers were very excited about Bretts
performances and are considering him for bigger things next year), Oakdale,
CA songwriter Brett Dennen is set to release his self-titled album on July
12th. The album was originally released with limited online distribution
last year on the Southern California-based Three Angels and a Saint Label,
but will now enjoy national exposure via the FLAGSHIP Recordings label
and distribution via the new independent UMVD arm, Fontana Distribution.
In conjunction with the release, Dennen has a number of things planned
and happening this summer.
On July 14th, Dennen is confirmed to tape
a performance for the syndicated radio program World Café in Philadelphia.
The following day, July 15th, Dennen will share the Central Park Summer
Stage bill in New York City with Shelby Lynne. Dennen is also confirmed
to perform at the AAA Radio Summit in Boulder, CO, on August 11th. He will
be joining the likes of Mike Doughty, James Blunt, and David Gray on the
list of performers for the convention. AOL has confirmed a full album Listening
Party for Brett Dennen starting on July 11th and running for 2 weeks. [see

Eminem
Can't Stop Hot Karl |
press release reports: Hot Karl, aka Jensen
Karp, will release his (second) debut album, The Great Escape, on Headless
Heroes/BBE Records on July 19th, 2005. The album features guest appearances
from MC Serch (3rd Bass), Reggie Watts (Maktub) and Ali Abnormal, as well
as production from 9th Wonder, She Wants Revenge (Justin Warfield &
Adam 12), Ali Dee, Mayru and Jamey Staub.
In 2001, after spending $750,000, Interscope
Records shelved what was to be Karl's first album because of alleged complaints
from another white rapper on the label (you might have heard of him- some
call him Eminem). Three years later, Karl has returned with a completely
new album that conveys something different than the pervasive and played
out thug/bling theme found on most hip-hop records today.[see full story
