Linkin Park Lose
Reuters reports: A British judge has rejected a bid by American nu-metal band Linkin Park to trademark its name for use on posters, leaving shopkeepers free to sell unofficial posters of music and show business personalities.

In a landmark judgment that means the band cannot sue suppliers of unauthorized posters, Judge Richard Arnold said on Tuesday that unlike merchandise such as CDs and books, a famous name appearing on a poster was purely descriptive.

"Third parties are, of course, entitled to take and exploit pictures of celebrities -- the copyright in a picture of Linkin Park belongs to the creator of it and not necessarily to the group itself," he said. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Metalers Accidental Fall
Blabbermouth reports: Long-running Southern California death metallers DEEDS OF FLESH have posted the following message on their official web site:

"Early Saturday morning, Mike [Hamilton, drums] and Jacoby [Kingston, bass/vocals] were involved in an accidental fall from a second story balcony. Meshell from Metal Judgment was also involved. Injuries were sustained by all three. Mike has a broken arm, Jacoby suffered a fractured vertebrae and a compressed disk, along with a badly sprained ankle, and Meshell suffered a broken leg. The injuries aren't as bad as initially thought, so DEEDS will back in business within a month. We apologize to all the fans and promoters of the shows we had to miss.

"All we can say is that we are all extremely lucky and fell well. The injuries could have been fatal from the 20-foot fall. We barely missed the brick driveway only inches away from the spot where we landed.

"Jacoby was released from the hospital on Saturday night, and Mike was released on Sunday. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
