Meshuggah
DVD in 07? |
siN's metal news reports: In an in-depth interview
recently posted at Metal Temple magazine, MESHUGGAH drummer Tomas Haake
spoke to Katrina Thompson about the band’s musical complexity that has
made them such a distinct act, as well as their latest effort, "Catch 33"
(2005, Nuclear Blast Records) and the band’s future plans. Here’s an excerpt
from the interview: Metal Temple: Are there any plans for a live album
or DVD?
- Tomas Haake: "Yeah we have plans for
that too. Unfortunately we don’t have the material like live performance
recordings or anything to release that prior to the touring after the next
album, so it’s probably not going to happen until like 2007. And if we
do a thing like that, we really want to do it professionally and get like
6 or 7 cameras out and record like 10 shows and have a separate audio rig
for that as far as recording devices go - like use pro tools or something
to bring that out. It’s gonna cost a lot of money but we don’t see any
point in releasing like a half shady bad sounding DVD. We want to do it
all out in that case. It’s in the plans but it’s not gonna happen within
the next year." [see full story for more]- Click

Remixed |
Cornerstone reports: Air, Beastie Boys, El-P,
Boards Of Canada & Others Reinterpret Beck's "Best Work In Years" (Entertainment
Weekly)
Now that his SRO world tour has wrapped
up at Las Vegas' Vegoose festival, Beck has announced the December 13 release
of Guerolito, a remix companion to the critically lauded, gold-certified
Guero.
An ambitious companion piece to the record
The New Yorker said "sums up everything Beck is good at, like an imaginary
greatest hits album," Guerolito features an eclectic line-up of artists
handpicked by Beck to create Guero's multi-dimensional bizarro twin.
Additionally, Guero cover artist Marcel
Dzama will be "remixing" the album's artwork, creating new variations on
the distinctive and striking original package.[see full story for more]-

Highroad
No. 28 Debut |
Submitted News reports: Australian pop-rockers,
Highroad No. 28, are currently in the mid-final stages of pre-production,
before embarking upon entering the studio to recording their debut album,
"Unsteady and Steady State". Founding member, Andrew J. Cantwell, states:
"This record is phenomenal. It is oscillates, undulates and jumps back
and forth at the listener, both musically and lyrically. The "Unsteady
and Steady State" represents a dichotomy between some very happy days of
late and some very painful times of the past, and those pains sporadically
re-entering the present again. Musically we well use an additional second
guitarist - ex-long term member Phillip Brien. We will also have additional
percussion and a female vocalist. The record will have a plethora of effects.
With all the thousands and thousands of CD's out their, this is one that
will stand out as a gem."
The band enter SNJ studios on November
8'th and release the album in December 2005. January 2006 will see Highroad
No. 28 embark on a national tour with another band soon to be announced.
In addition, early 2006 sees the band produce their first film clip.[see

Noble PR reports: December 12th 2005 is red
letter day for fans of one of the most influential bass players in rock
music. Castle Music (a label of Sanctuary Records) will release a trio

The Hero (originally released in 1981) and The Rock (never before released

demos and rarities.
Before Entwistle came along as a member
of the Who, bassists seldom stood out for their playing and few casual

Bono
"Crushed" by Canadian PM |
antiMusic / Trent McMartin reports: Irish
supergroup U2 were in Canada’s capital last week for another stop on their
highly successful Vertigo tour. Though much attention was focused on the
quartet’s highly anticipated show at the Corel Centre much of the media
was focused on lead singer and activist Bono.
At a press conference earlier in the day
the rock star let his thoughts be known on Prime Minister Paul Martin’s
unwillingness to contribute 0.7 percent of Canada’s Gross Domestic Product
by 2015 to fight world poverty.
"I'm personally not just disappointed --
I'm crushed, because I really believed the Prime Minister would do that,"
said Bono referring to the PM’s lack of action.
"I'm mystified by the man, actually, at
this point, because I like him very much personally and I just think it's
a huge opportunity that he's missing out on." [see full story for more]-
