antiMusic reports: It looks like Billy's newspaper ad worked, The Smashing Pumpkins have reformed. The band is currently writing new material, according to a post on their official website and plan to begin recording this summer. Jagger Sitcom
Gigwise reports: The Rolling Stones' Mick Jagger is in talks to star in a sitcom pilot screened by American TV giant ABC. 

Jagger’s part will be as a man who becomes the target of a robbery by a group of blue collars boys in New York.

Darkness Reality TV
Yahoo reports: According to the London newspaper The Sun, U.K. hair-metal heroes the Darkness have been approached to star in a bizarre new reality TV show called Band In A Bubble.

Blabbermouth reports: Boston-based guitarist Joshua Craig was called to audition for GUNS N' ROSES last week — presumably as the replacement for Buckethead, who quit the group in early 2004. In a statement sent to BLABBERMOUTH.NET, Craig expressed his "complete admiration and repect for the opportunity to audition for such a great orginazation where everyone was the most polite and kind musicians and crew." Down DVD
KNAC reports: New Orleans-based super-group, Down featuring vocalist Philip Anselmo (Superjoint Ritual, Pantera), Corrosion of Conformity guitarist/vocalist Pepper Keenan, drummer Jimmy Bower (Eyehategod, Superjoint Ritual), bassist Rex Brown (Pantera) and guitarist Kirk Windstein (Crowbar), commence their first ever European tour on May 17 in Hamburg, Germany.

Doherty Avoids Jail Again
Ananova reports: Pete Doherty has avoided a jail sentence after pleading guilty to multiple drugs charges.

BBC reports: Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty has been arrested in east London on suspicion of drugs possession only hours after a court appearance.

FCC Payola Probe
Reuters reports: U.S. regulators have intensified their probe into four big radio station chains for possible violations of rules that bar secret payments being made in exchange for airplay of music, officials said on Thursday.

The Federal Communications Commission sent letters of inquiry to Clear Channel Communications Inc., CBS Corp., Citadel Broadcasting Corp. and Entercom Communications Corp., two FCC officials said, speaking on the condition of anonymity.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Cursive Summer
CMJ reports: The emotional Nebraskans in Cursive are currently in the studio finishing the follow-up to 2003’s The Ugly Organ. Though there is no tracklisting available (the band is still referring to songs by number, not title), Tim Kasher and Co. just announced that the album will be called Happy Hollow and that it will be preceded by the July 11 release of a so-far unnamed single. Megadeth Recording
Blabbermouth reports: MEGADETH commenced the recording process for the follow-up to 2004's "The System Has Failed" on Wednesday (April 19) in a studio outside of London, England with producer Jeff Balding. Recording is planned to continue over the next two weeks with director Michael Sarna (who directed the band's "Of Mice And Men" video) filming the process.
