Aiken
Sued |
E! reports: Clay Aiken is finding that fame
comes with a thousand different downsides.
The American Idol runner-up has been sued
by the author of an "unauthorized tribute" titled Out of the Blue--"Clay"

book sales.
According to her court documents, Jeannie
Holleman was a neighbor and lifelong friend of the McGhee family--Raleigh,
North Carolina, residents who took in Aiken and his mother, Faye Parker,
after Parker left her abusive husband, bringing her young son with her.

Victory
Sucks? |
punkbands reports: Hawthorne Heights announced
this week that they will be leaving their label, Victory Records. The band
states that the split is "anything but amicable," and that label head Tony
Brummel is to blame.
In the letter, they cite the incident with
Ne-Yo (an email from Brummel asking street-teamers to hide his cd's in
stores so Hawthorne's own would be more visible to consumers), as well
as Brummel's bickering with a program director of a Chicago radio station
over airplay (subsequently leaving HH out of radio rotation), as instances
of his greed and disregard for the band. The band goes on to explain that
they have never received a single artist royalty from Victory, despite
selling 1.2 million copies of "The Silence In Black And White."
They describe their relationship with Victory
as abusive, claiming they were too afraid of the consequences to speak
out against the label. They claim the same is true for every band on Victory's
roster. [But it's the biggest label in the universe
oops emo label
. Wait,
indie label.. sorry. Their message is pretty damning, see the full story
for that. Also they are reportedly suing Victory for lost record sales,
lost publishing revenues, lost merch revenues, lost touring revenues and
damage to Hawthorne Heights reputation.] - Click
