Worst Band Ever
tinfoilmusic.net reports: We love/hate lists of the best/worst things. These lists are highly subjective and are almost always mostly wrong. Blender's list of the 50 worst bands ever is one of them, but atleast they got Insane Clown Posse in the top spot, so that has to count for something.

1 INSANE CLOWN POSSE
They sound even stupider than they look
Two trailer-trash types who wear face paint, pretend to be a street gang and drench cult devotees in cheap soda called Faygo, Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope are more notorious for their beef with Eminem (who pistol-whipped an ICP homey in 2001) than their ham-fisted rap-rock music.

Idol Trashes Idol
TMZ reports: "American Idol" winner Taylor Hicks needs to learn to watch his mouth. Hicks recently slipped and said the reality show was "fizzling out" and pooh-poohed being crowned last year's winner. Now he's doing some damage control before the new season starts, and before Simon Cowell blacklists him forever. E! Online reports that the grey-haired crooner has apologized, saying, "Those words were taken completely out of context. I'm very thankful to have had the opportunity to be on 'American Idol.'"- Click Here for the Full Story

Snoop a Rat?
Gigwise reports: Death Row Records boss Suge Knight has accused former label mate Snoop Dogg of being a police informer.

Knight alleges to Pagesix.com, “Snoop is a rat. He's a police informer. This is the only guy who never goes to jail no matter what. I don't like rats.” [... wait does that mean Pete Doherty is a rat too? And why isn't Suge in jail? What about OJ? see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

KISS Vs Kittie
blabbermouth.net reports: Canadian all-girl metal band KITTIE has changed the name of its record label to X of Infamy from the previously announced Kiss of Infamy after reportedly receiving a cease-and-desist letter from attorneys representing Kiss Catalog Ltd. (the owner of the intellectual property rights pertaining to the musical group KISS) alleging that the Kiss of Infamy mark appeared to be "confusingly similar" to their client's mark.

X of Infamy will release KITTIE's new album, "Funeral for Yesterday", on February 20, 2007.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Slipknot Sued
blabbermouth.net reports: John O'Brien of The West Virginia Record reports that a Huntington, WV concert promoter is suing SLIPKNOT for canceling a 2001 show that he organized.

No Billboard for Paris
TMZ reports: Apparently, Paris Hilton has some sort of standards: she won't belittle her friends on Monday night's Billboard Music Awards. The heiress is following in the footsteps of new BFF Britney and has pulled the plug on hosting the show.

"It is my understanding that some satirical references ridiculed some of her peers," Hilton's spokesman, Elliot Mintz, says in the New York Post. "Paris did not want to say anything that could appear hurtful or embarrassing about people she knows."[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Fear Factory Leave Label
blabbermouth.net reports: FEAR FACTORY frontman frontman Burton C. Bell has confirmed to Jenny Feniak of the Edmonton Sun that the band has parted ways with Liquid 8 Records, the label that issued the group's last two albums — 2004's "Archetype" and 2005's "Transgression".

"Right now we're a completely independent band. We're free of labels and free of all sorts of things, so it's all about the music right now," says Bell, who is also a creative writer. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Godsmack Memoir
blabbermouth.net reports: A web site has been launched for GODSMACK frontman Sully Erna's upcoming memoir, "The Paths We Choose", which details the first 30 years of his life up until GODSMACK got signed. Due on February 7 via Bartleby Press, the book "is about what it took to get from Point A to Point B," Sully previously told Launch. "It's not the autobiography that's so cliché that talks about all the girls we (slept with) and how many drugs we've done and... who cares. This is a cooler story for me." Erna also said that the book will have "a lot of morals and lessons to be learned in it." [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

MPAA Vs Privacy
tinfoilmusic.net reports: Just prior to the HP pretexting scandal , California was just about to pass a law banning the practice outright. It was a wide reaching law that looked like it was very good for the average consumer. Pretexting is the act of creating and using an invented scenario (the pretext) to persuade a target to release information or perform an action and is usually done over the telephone. It's more than a simple lie as it most often involves some prior research or set up and the use of pieces of known information (e.g., For impersonation: Birthday, Social Security Number, last bill amount) to establish legitimacy in the mind of the target.

The bill passed the first couple rounds of voting with flying colours before the MPAA caught wind of it. Their powerful lobying group then managed to convince enough member of the California government that the MPAA needed to be able to use this tactic to help stop piracy.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
