Anthrax Scare
Blabbermouth reports: Jon Johnson of the Eastern Arizona Courier has issued the following report: Safford, Arizona police were called to the city's garbage truck yard to investigate a white powdery substance to make sure it was not poisonous. Garbage truck driver Marty Solberg said he had seen the substance fall out of his truck when he emptied it at the dump. Solberg was concerned because earlier he had seen the word "ANTHRAX" written on the side of a dumpster at the entrance to Discovery Park.

Police secured the garbage truck and called Graham County bioterrorism coordinator Brian Douglas to the scene…. As Douglas was collecting the sample, officers were busy locating the source of the substance. Officers were then informed by the EAC Security that two empty flour bags were found in the Discovery Park dumpster. EAC Security also noticed the words "AC/DC" and "IRON MAIDEN" written on the back of the dumpster.

"We didn't get the connection with 'ANTHRAX' the band at first," Douglas said. "The other band names were on the back and not on the same side as the ANTHRAX one was."[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Radiohead Vs Media Fluff
Gigwise reports: Thom Yorke has had a dig at the media about their endless speculation over the new Radiohead album. The singer cites a magazine quotation which says new Radiohead tracks 'Videotape' and 'Down Is The New Up' are lifted from their eagerly anticipated new long-player.

In reality, Yorke says even the band themselves don't know what songs will make it to the final cut. "We don't know what will make it to the record, neither do they, neither do you. It drives me nuts the way people take it upon themselves to fluff stuff up like this. I just played a couple of songs on piano that happened to be ones that the band were working on at the time. And that was quite a while ago now. Sheesh." [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

RIAA Drops Mom Suit, Sues Kids
AP reports: The recording industry is giving up its lawsuit against Patti Santangelo, a mother of five who became the best-known defendant in the industry's battle against music piracy. However, two of her children are still being sued.

The five companies suing Santangelo, of Wappingers Falls, filed a motion Tuesday in federal court in White Plains asking Judge Colleen McMahon to dismiss the case. Their lead counsel, Richard Gabriel, wrote in court papers that the record companies still believe they could win damages against Santangelo but their preference was to "pursue defendant's children."[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Duff Drops Stalker Order
TMZ reports: Former couple Hilary Duff and Joel Madden have decided to drop their temporary restraining orders against one of two of their alleged stalkers. TMZ obtained documents filed Monday in Los Angeles County Superior Court by the star duo's lawyers, which requests a dismissal of the restraining orders against celebrity photographer David Joseph Klein.

In October, Duff and Madden filed temporary restraining orders against Klein and his roommate Maksim Miakovsky, an 18-year-old Russian emigre. The former couple feared for their safety and requested that a judge order the alleged stalkers to stay at least 100 yards away from Duff, her sister Haylie, Madden and his twin brother Benji.

In November, Miakovsky was arrested and booked on charges of making criminal threats and stalking Duff. He remains behind bars.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

MP3 Jail
tinfoilmusic reports: In courts in various countries all over the world, it was generally held that linking to illegal material wasn't generally illegal. Afterall, the people clicking on the links were comitting the illegal act, not the person pointing to the material. It's similar to saying that guns don't kill people, people kill people. I think it is fitting, though in this case the gun is the link.

mp3s4free.net is having problems in Australia because it seems some lost dingos have stolen the courts commen sense down under. The owner of mp3s4free, Stephen Cooper, were guilty of authorising copyright infringement because they provided a search engine through which a user could illegally download MP3 files. The high courts in Australia have backed lower court rulings. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
