U2 Vs France
Contact Music reports: Campaigning rocker BONO is planning a showdown with French President JACQUES CHIRAC, because the leader's agricultural policies are affecting his battle for fair trade in Africa.

"France is one of the biggest problems in reaching a trade deal.

Metallica Ozzfest
TuneLab reports: Metallica and System Of A Down are strongly rumored to have secured the "headliner" and "special guest" slots at this year's Ozzfest, "industry insiders" have allegedly told blabbermouth.net

GNR Return.. as well as Alice in Chains.
antiMusic reports: Guns N' Roses fans are getting what Axl promised; they will hear new music this year. The band has been officially booked to headline several music festivals in the coming months including Rock in Rio and Novarock Fest. Rumors are circulating that the band will also take part in the Download Festival, Rock am Ring, and the Gods of Metal Festival. 

Novarock festival will take place on June 15 through 17th in Burgenland, Austria and GNR will join the line-up that also includes Metallica, Tool, Placebo, Opeth, Avenged Sevenfold, Massive Attack and interestingly enough Alice in Chains, according to the official website. 

The fans made it happen in Rio. According to the Rock in Rio official site, "Guns n' Roses was the most requested band by the official site users, amongst all bands, by all fans, whether Portuguese or international." Sounds of the Underground 06
Adrenaline PR reports: The organizers for this year's Sounds of the Underground Tour; Paul Conroy and Carl Severson of Ferret Music, Tim Borror, Larry Mazer of Entertainment Services, with National Promoter House of Blues along with partners Metal Blade, Trustkill and Prosthetic Records, The Syndicate, Music Choice, and tour sponsors Hot Topic, Revolver Magazine, Eulogy Records are Proud to announce the official lineup of the sophomore national tour engagement: The Sounds Of The Underground 2006 with As I Lay Dying, In Flames, Trivium, Cannibal Corpse, Gwar, Terror, The Black Dahlia Murder, Behemoth, The Chariot and Through The Eyes Of The Dead.

In order to keep concertgoers charged and focused and grant them more exposure to the bands on the bill, Sounds of the Underground has reduced the size of its lineup and increased the length of the set times. Holy Diver Live!
antiMusic reports: Get ready to Stand Up and Shout once more to Dio's classic debut album, except this time you'll be able to experience the 1983 album live on DVD! Dio took the stage at London's Astoria in the Fall of last year to perform Holy Diver in its entirety, the event was caught on film and will be released on April 17th as a double DVD from Eagle Records, according to the official Dio site.

Anonymous Supergroup
Equal Vision reports: Anonymous supergroup, The Sound of Animals Fighting, will be releasing their second full- length album, entitled "Lover, The Lord Has Left Us..." through Equal Vision Records this spring.

"Lover, The Lord Has Left Us..." is a 13-song journey which pushes musical boundaries to their fullest. Contact Music reports: Former SEX PISTOLS star JOHN LYDON has slammed New York punk bands, including THE RAMONES, citing them as repetitive, tatty and spoilt.

Lydon, also known as JOHNNY ROTTEN, insists his transatlantic punk contemporaries lacked the original talent of British bands and were deprived of the chance to prove themselves by wealthy parents.

Bee Gees Reunite

TMZ reports: British glam rocker Gary Glitter will go on trial March 2 on charges of committing obscene acts with two underaged girls in Vietnam, the presiding judge said Monday.
