Alice in Chains Return
antiMusic reports: We promised to keep you updated on this story, here is the latest. The admin of Jerry Cantrell's official website posted an update about the Alice in Chains reunion. Although he doesn't spill the beans about who will be taking over vocal duties for the late Layne Staley, he does confirm that the band will reunite for the Nova Rock festival and drops a hint that more shows may be booked. Here is his posting:

I hate to keep on saying, this but as most of you have heard Alice will be performing at Nova Rock in Austria. This is true. Alice is back.

Europe is a long way to go for just one show, so I feel that we are going to have a lot more to do. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

GNR Download
antiMusic reports: It's now official. Guns N' Roses will indeed be playing the Download Festival. This year's installment of the popular UK music festival will take place June 9th through 11th at Donington Park in Leicestershire. Also slated to appear: Metallica, The Prodigy, The Deftones, Korn, Trivium, Clutch and Bullet for My Valentine.

Now that we know GNR are playing out once again we have to wonder who is in the band? Could it be the classic line-up of the group? Rock photographer Ross Halfin posted the following on his official website on Feb 3, "the original lineup [of GNR] is supposed to play Download in June with their metal chums, Metallica." Halfin's post came a few days before Metallica were officially announced as part of the English festival but he quickly removed the post from his site according to Blabbermouth.

For news on the other festivals GNR have lined up check out yesterday's story at the full story link.

Feds Vs Sony
CMJ reports: The ongoing Digital Rights Management rootkit debacle that's landed Sony BMG in a bottomless pit of controversy has now led to the possibility of government intervention in the matter, which could take the shape of a government ban on DRM rootkits. An official at the Department Of Homeland Security has called for potential legislation that could be used against companies, such as Sony, that sell products containing the software, which installs itself on one's computer without the user's knowledge and leaves it vulnerable to intrution. Arch Enemy DVD Details
Arch Enemy reports: Michael Amott offers an update on the Arch Enemy DVD: "Well, we’ve actually been keeping busy and focused during our time home since the holidays. A lot of effort has gone into working on the first ever Arch Enemy DVD, ‘LIVE APOCALYPSE’ which is now very near completion. The DVD is shaping up to be an ultra cool 2-disc affair and I honestly couldn’t be happier with it. The main show is from the Forum in London, U.K (December ’04) and we also have footage from Manchester, U.K in December ’05 (there’ll be 3 songs included from that). It goes without saying that there’s tons of extras/special features – as there should be!

"The artwork was done by Niklas Sundin of Cabin Fever Media...."[see full story for more plus some video & tour news]- Click Here for the Full Story
