Show Ever! |
Reuters reports: "American Idol" star Simon
Cowell is singing "Duets" with Fox.
The network has ordered a talent show in
which professional singers pair off with celebrities outside of the music
business to perform for a panel of judges and a studio audience. Viewers
will have the final say in voting off contestants. [Wait isn't this the
network that cancels anything halfway decent? This is what they replace
it with? Next thing you know they'll have has-beens dancing an hour each
week and it will top the ratings. The dumbing down of America is complete.

Floyd
Snubbed |
Gigwise reports: Judges of this years Brit
Awards have been left outraged after Pink Floyd were omitted from the Best
Live Act shortlist.

Stern
Debut |
FMQB reports: Howard Stern made his long-awaited
debut on Sirius Satellite Radio today. While there were a few technical
glitches at the start, once Stern and his crew got rolling, it was business
as usual with only a couple noticeable changes in the program. The first
is the hiring of George Takei as the announcer for Stern's program. Best
known as Star Trek's Sulu, Takei was live in the studio for his debut.
The other was the lack of commercials, as Stern's debut went commercial
free -- and lasted well into the 11 a.m. hour. Stern said 6 commercial
units per hour would show up starting tomorrow with clients including Heineken
and Vermont Teddy Bear.[see full story for more]- Click

Idol
Pandemic |
hecklerspray reports: Today's pandemic started
on ITV1 in the UK, calling itself Pop Idol. It was contagious too, quickly
spreading through unknown means to first world countries the world around.
The name changed with every infection, calling itself American Idol, Canadian
Idol or Australian Idol to name some. Side effects included intense headaches,
scabby inner ears, dry heaves and astronomical ratings.
Despite the obvious mental hazards, government
owned TV in Ethiopia has decided it wants a piece of that action. They
intend to call it...wait for it...Ethiopian Idol.[see full story for more]-
