Slipknot
Plans |
The Gauntlet reports: Slipknot guitarist Mick
Thompson recently spoke with Billboard.com regarding the bands upcoming
DVD and entering the studio to record the followup to 2004's 'The Subliminal
Verses'. "We're going to start getting back together and working on stuff,"
guitarist Mick Thomson tells Billboard.com. "The core that writes the songs
tend to get together -- it's not as easy to work out stuff when you've
got nine people standing in the same room. I would say we'll start working
within the next few months. I've talked to [Slipknot bassist] Paul [Gray]
a few times. Very slowly, no pressure."[see full story for more]-

Kylesa
Recording |
PR reports: Savannah, GA sludge rockers KYLESA
have offered an update on the band, fresh off a string of dates alongside
Baroness and its appearance at the 8th annual Emissions From The Monolith
festival: "So we are about to record a brand new album. It hasn't even
been a year since we recorded 'To Walk a Middle Course,' but since Carl
and Jeff have joined the band, we've been writing constantly and are pretty
stoked on what's come out of the jams. We're recording this month, so the
record should be out in October sometime, right after we get back from
Europe. We're doing a split 7" with Victims which will be out this summer
on Hyperrealist in the US and Unsociable in Europe. We're also contributing
a song for the EyeHateGod tribute CD which is coming out on Emetic Records.
We're doing "Left to Starve" off of their first record. Other bands that
will be on the comp include Brutal Truth, Lair of the Minotaur, Unearthly
Trance and a bunch more." - Click

What
State Are You In? |
PR reports: The movie Garden State is to today's
generation what The Graduate was to the baby boomer generation, a touchstone
not only in its story, imagery, performances and lines of dialogue but
also its music. Garden State's bittersweet yet sometimes uplifting songs
provided an emotional barometer for what was happening on the screen. For
fans of the award-winning summer 2004 film and its platinum-certified,
Top 20-charting, Grammy-winning soundtrack, The State I'm In (Hip-O/UMe),
released June 13, 2006, once again evokes the spirit of that film.
A collection of a dozen songs selected
for their college student melancholy and indie vibe--songs that just as
easily could have been on the original soundtrack--The State I'm In features
tracks from alt-rockers Remy Zero ("Motorcycle") and electronic popsters
Frou Frou (the Top 25 Dance, Top 40 Adult Top 40 "Breathe In"), two artists
who were heard in Garden State. Also appearing is the Commodores classic
1978 #1 pop smash "Three Times A Lady," quasi-featured in a pivotal scene
of the film written, directed and starring Zach Braff. [see full story

Blackie
Not So Lawless |
PR reports: Blackie Lawless was found Not
Guilty by the Scottsdale Arizona Court in the ongoing assault case against
him dating back to August of 2005. The Judge's decision of "Not Guilty"
was handed down today Monday, May 22nd 2006. Pleased with the decision
from the Court, Blackie feels that the Court took into consideration that
the artists have a right to defend themselves in an effort to avoid more
of the recent tragedies that have happened to other performers. He also
hopes that decisions like this will further increase awareness and understanding
by the public that performers can be extremely vulnerable and that this
case will also serve in aiding other performers if and when the time arises
that they are forced to defend themselves in Court cases. Blackie will
also like to thank the many, many fans and associates who have supported
him throughout this trial.- Click

Vet Low Plots Solo CD |
PR reports: Welsh-born singer-guitarist Andy
Fairweather Low is truly a pop-music survivor: you may remember his hits
with the '60s British pop group Amen Corner ("Bend Me Shape Me," "[If Paradise
Is] Half as Nice," "Gin House") or be a fan of his '70s solo LPs on A&M,
which have achieved cult-classic status (1975's Spider Jivin', 1976's La
Booga Rooga and 1978's Be Bop 'n' Holla) and yielded more hits ("Reggae
Tune," "Be Bop 'n' Holla," "Wide Eyed and Legless." More recently he's
been an essential sideman for the Who, Van Morrison, Linda Ronstadt, Bill
Wyman and George Harrison, and, in his longest associations, Eric Clapton
and Pink Floyd's Roger Waters. Now he's back on the solo track with Sweet
Soulful Music (Proper American Recordings), due out in the U.S. on August
15, 2006.
Low was Clapton's second guitarist for
13 years, appearing on Unplugged, From the Cradle, Pilgrim, Riding With
the King, Reptile, One More Rider, Me and Mr. Johnson and Back Home. He
toured with Clapton (reviving "Gin House" for the 1999 shows) until 2003,
and has also toured extensively with Roger Waters. [see full story for

n Women: Lucid Fly |
antiMusic reports: Today's Rock n Woman is
Nikky Payne for Lucid Fly. We'll now turn it over to Morley: I've rarely
heard a stronger debut record from a band than Adapting to Gravity
than Orlando Florida's Lucid Fly. The disc is stuffed full of melodic hard
rock songs that feature the awesome voice of Nikki Payne. Songs like "Collide"
and "Splinter" will stick in your head from her great delivery, augmented
by the tastefully-crunchy guitars. Nikki Payne brought us up to speed on
the band recently.
antiMUSIC: The material you play sets
you apart from most of the other bands I've heard lately. Do you feel this
hard rock style fills a void in the current scene?
Nikki Payne: Most importantly we
play from the heartWe feel our style is unique. Each of us have such a
wide range of musical influences, so when we get together to write, its
always experimental at first and then we compromise until we find a groove
that works best for all of us-its like the songs morph into their own entity.
It has been hard to categorize our music, but we describe it as progressive
hard rock. I think a lot of bands are doing the hard rock style, some more
radio friendly than others, but I definitely feel like our version is refreshing
and edgy, and often times unexpected - a pleasant surprise. [see
