OutKast Return
PR reports: Three years since the release of 5-time Grammy Award-winner OutKast's landmark RIAA diamond-certified #1 double-CD Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, Antwan 'Big Boi' Patton and André '3000' Benjamin return in a BIG way this August with their first appearance together in a motion picture, and the most eagerly anticipated new album of their career, IDLEWILD, set for August 22nd release on LaFace/Zomba Music Group.

Three days after the release of the IDLEWILD album, Universal Pictures and HBO Films will open wide with Idlewild, a Mosaic Media Group and Forensic Films Production starring Antwan Patton and André Benjamin in their first movie together. (They have acted separately, Big Boi in ATL, and Dré in Be Cool and Four Brothers.) Set amidst the backdrop of a 1930s rural Georgia speakeasy known as The Church, the film follows its two lead characters, lifelong friends Percival (Dré), the club's piano player, and Rooster (Big Boi), the club's lead performer and manager, through intersecting stories of love and ambition, in a story fueled by non-stop action, music and showstopping dance numbers. Public Enemy Vs 50 Cent
antiMusic reports: Public Enemy will go down as one of the true pioneers of rap but right now they feel they aren't getting the props they deserve and they don't like what has become of the genre when they look at today's big rap stars. In an interview with E4 Chuck D and Professor Griff discussed their legacy and the current state of rap. "We don't appreciate being written out of history," says Chuck. "We keep hearing about the Who, about Cream. I understand they made a contribution, but sh*t." When asked by the host Rick Edwards about today's mainstream rap, especially 50 Cent, Chuck gave a weary sigh and attacked Fiddy's popularity by saying, "There has to be a way of judging on quality of music, not quantity." Griff had even stronger words about 50 Cent and what the genre he helped pioneer has evolved into. "Rap has become a sad reality," says Griff. "50 Cent comes out with a movie that's a step-by-step instruction in how to be a thug. And sells it to children?" Foxx Song Thief?
TMZ reports: In the suit, first reported by World Entertainment News Network, Michael A. Johnson alleges he was watching "The Oprah Winfrey Show" when he saw Foxx perform the song "Heaven" from his album, "Unpredictable." Johnson claims the song is a "rearranged version" of his song, "One of God's Angels is AWOL."

Johnson claims that "The songs are so similar that if my song was released today people would think I copied Jamie's song." [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Aiken's Accuser Distortions?
antiMusic reports: A quick follow-up to yesterday's story about Clay Aiken's gay accuser John Paulus; In his blog post, Paulus claimed that the day after he told his story of a one-night-stand with the Idol runner-up to the National Enquirer, he had second thoughts and even went as far as having an attorney send a cease-and-desist letter to the paper's parent company. However, the Enquirer remembers it quite differently. MSNBC's The Scoop columnist Jeannette Walls spoke with National Enquirer editor David Perel about Paulus' claims about trying to kill the story and how the story leaked out from there. Here is part of that report: "Our reporter couldn't get him off the phone," Perel told The Scoop. Perel says he doesn't remember Paulus having a legal letter sent, but says even if there was one, Paulus is "completely distorting" the story. "It's not a situation where he told the story one time," Perel said. "He engaged in multiple conversations with our reporter. He couldn't stop talking, and then he talked to reporters after it was out." [see the full story link for yesterday's story] - Click Here for the Full Story
