Gene
Slams Ace |
Blabbermouth reports: Britain's Uncut magazine
recently conducted an interview with KISS mainmen Paul Stanley and Gene
Simmons.
Simmons: "There were problems with drink
and drugs, but I was completely oblivious to it then. I've never been drunk
or high in my life. If you're talking about Peter and Ace, you're talking
about the kind of personalities that are so peculiar you wouldn't know
if they were high or not. Even when he was straight, Ace was unable to
walk in a straight line. Also, he naturally talks in a slurred way. He
was no different when he was high. He had a strange sense of humor, too.
He'd be coming out with stuff like, 'Hey, I f***ed an alien last night.'
He is, without doubt, the laziest, most self-destructive person I've ever
met." [see full story for more from the interview]- Click

MTV reports: Garage rockers are starting a
war or at least a war of words. Underground garage rocker Billy Childish
who has released more than 50 records in his various bands (Pop Rivets,
the Milkshakes, Thee Headcoats) has called out the White Stripes in the
latest issue of GQ magazine, saying of the Detroit duo: "I can't listen
to that stuff. They don't have a good sound. ... Jack's half into the sound
and music, but then he wants to be a pop star as well, so you've got a
big problem." [see full story for Jack's response]- Click

Manifesto
Denied |
punkbands reports: It seems everyone in the
music industry received Victory Records' manifesto about Hawthorne Heights'
new album attempting to save rock music. Although the missive was allegedly
signed by the band, drummer Eron Bucciarelli tell mtvnews.com, that just
isn't the case. "We didn't write it. That was the label trying to rally
the troops. That's the way they like to do things. And once I saw it out
there, I was like, 'Uh oh.'"
"[The manifesto] was supposed to get everyone
together to support independent music," singer J.T. Woodruff said to Mtv.
"And that's all it was supposed to be.[see full story for more]-

Ultimate
Prince |
Special Ops reports: Prince's first-ever two-disc
collection gathers 29 singles and key tracks originally released on Warner
Bros. between 1979 and 1993. Includes such all-time classics as "Kiss,"
"Little Red Corvette," "1999," "When Doves Cry," "Raspberry Beret," and
many more. With each album, Prince blurred boundaries and ventured into
musical territories that other urban artists only hinted at, all the while
chalking up hits and critical acclaim. Combining funky R&B with psychedelic
pop and sensual balladry, Prince not only created a mind-bending, booty-shaking
musical experience, he emerged as a postmodern personification of artistry
and showmanship. Ultimate will be in stores March 14th! - see full story
