Corinne a Hit
Capitol reports: Today Corinne Bailey Rae's self-titled debut album came in at #1 on the U.K. album chart. The strong first-week sales suggest that the public is every bit as enchanted by the singer-songwriter as the U.K. press. "Leeds native Corinne Bailey Rae is a new UK soul singer who, for once, won't be hemmed in by the genre's limitations....by year end, she will be everybody's soul siren of choice, and rightly so," said Q Magazine in its four-star review of the album.

Capitol Records will introduce Corinne Bailey Rae to U.S. audiences via the three-song, digital only EP Like A Star, available beginning tomorrow, and upcoming shows at New York's Mercury Lounge (March 13th), Los Angeles' Hotel Café (March 15th) and at SXSW in Austin (March 16th). "A sublime folk-soul fusion from one of the best voices we've heard in a long time," said Music Week of the EP. It features three songs from Bailey Rae's forthcoming debut album, which is due out June 6th in the States. The EP's title track, "Like A Star," was recently featured in its entirety on "Grey's Anatomy" and the video was just added by VH1 Soul's "Sub Soul," the channel's show for new music. Who the F**k is Mike Skinner?
addVice reports: Remember that picture that said, "Who the F**k is Mike Skinner"? Well here it is. On The Hardest Way to Make an Easy Living, the Streets offer perhaps the most action-packed thirty-seven minutes in the history of pop, rap or rock and roll, hurtling the listener on a voyage to the heart of celebrity darkness. The album starts and ends with a drug and alcohol inspired panic attack.Mike Skinner, battle-hardened by the last two years of trial by tabloid, has decided that attack is the best form of defense. "Me writing the scandals on my own album has got to be better than someone else getting it wrong in the papers. If you just put all the worst things that happened out there, all they can do is repeat what you've said." The Hardest Way to Make an Easy Living is the amazingly true story of a now very famous boy named Mike and the madness of celebrity's fast lane. Featuring star turns by violence, sex, alcohol, gambling, bad behavior, regret and way, way too much prang.

When the record is released on April 25, Mike will revel all. Get the first clue to the madness that is the world according to Skinner with the video to lead track "When You Wasn't Famous" up now at the Streets MySpace page and let the games begin.- Click Here for the Full Story

2 Sides of Ben Harper
Machine Shop reports: Ben Harper is set to release his seventh studio album on March 21st entitled Both Sides of the Gun. It's the first time this talented singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist has ever gone with the double-disc format. At the end of his recording process, he realized that he had chosen nine harder songs and nine ballad-based songs for the album, which conveniently summed up the structure of the album and its eventual title.

This master stylist has taken sole production credit although in normal Ben Harper style, he bounced between recording on his own, with other musicians, and with his long-time partners, the Innocent Criminals. The album raises the bar to new heights for Ben Harper with his newfound sense of "absolute fearlessness- just diving into a song and ripping it wide open, with a lot of one-take vocals and guitar solos that are nasty, loose, raw, immediate." Jacko Recorders Guilty
TMZ reports: TMZ was in Federal court today as Jeffrey Borer and Arvel "Jett" Reeves pled guilty Monday afternoon to conspiracy for illegally taping Michael Jackson as he flew from Las Vegas to Santa Barbara in 2003.

Jackson, who flew on a Gulfstream jet with his attorney, Mark Geragos, was arrested when he landed in Santa Barbara and taken to the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Department where he was booked on charges of child molestation. Jackson was acquitted of those charges last year.

Borer was the owner of XtraJet, a charter jet company that operated the Gulfstream and Reeves owned the company that serviced the XtraJet fleet. The pair installed a videotape (with audio) and intercepted private conversations between Garagos and Jackson.- Click Here for the Full Story

Rocco DeLuca and The Burden
Press Release reports: Ironworks Music, the brand new independent record label owned by Kiefer Sutherland and Jude Cole, will be sending it's first accomplishment into the world from Rocco DeLuca and The Burden on March 21st. The debut album entitled, I Trust You To Kill Me will be a first for both the label and the Long Beach, California band.

In 2004, Sutherland and Cole were introduced to Rocco DeLuca by a friend who saw him perform at The Gypsy Lounge in Orange County where he held a two-year residency. The bar was known more for its local biker crowd than a breeding ground for talented musicians. [Actually the Gypsy is THE place to hear the best up and coming OC and LBC musicians perform -ed]Yet Rocco used the nonchalant stage as a writing and rehearsal space to continue honing his unique craft on the DOBRO® steel guitar and to experiment with his impressively wide vocal range. DeLuca had grown up surrounded by music; first with his father being the touring guitarist for Bo Diddley and then with his friends immersed in the punk scene. As a result, Rocco's sound naturally emerged as a soulful combination of blues and rock with honest, vulnerable lyrics backed with an unsurpassed inner strength.
